About Nancy Loomis

We came from south Florida for a vacation here and never left.

We love it here.

Both of us are in Hospitality, so you know you are getting good service.

Nancy Loomis purchased this cabin in 2001

Why Nancy Loomis chose Helen

WE loved the river.

We go in it everyday in the summer and sit by it when water is too cold.

What makes this cabin unique

We are in a quiet area of the river, do not have people going down it all day yelling like in Helen.

So you can enjoy the sounds and wildlife.

Peaceful, tranquil and beautiful. This is the place you can take a long nap on the porch and enjoy the sounds of nature. Or, if you want to go tubing, canoeing or fishing, it''s all there! The cottage is absolutely beautiful! This is the kind of place you dream about. We are looking forward to going back, and staying longer next time!( even saw a bear during there stay!, which is now named Marshmellow)

I have to say we absolutely loved this cabin, it was way beyond our expectations as the pictures just dont do it justice! (and we are VERY picky) The porches were awesome and huge with lots of comfortable sitting areas where we spent literally hours and hours hanging out in the fresh air and talking. My husband loved the fishing and we made a fire in the fire pit and made smores in the evenings after dinner! The beds are amazingly comfortable (which is rare for us to find) and we slept like babies after all that fresh mountain air! Helen was a hop-skip and a jump away, so we were surpised how peaceful and secluded the property was. Truly a pleasure and we can''t wait to go back for another trip! Thank you Nancy for your wonderful hospitatlity and your truly amazing cabin! -Cheryl, Scott, Stephanie and Kevin! Cheryl had written to me (Nancy) in an e-mail the following: We absolutely loved the cabin...it was way beyond my expectations and it was immaculate! The porches were amazing and I loved all your decorator touches and the details

Beautiful home right on the river

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough about our stay! The area was beautiful, the house was perfect, it had more than what we needed. I came out looking for a peaceful weekend in the mountains where I could explore the sights and national parks the area had to offer. We were gone most of the day and had the perfect set up to relax after a long day on the trails. I would love to come back in the warmer months to really take advantage of the river access.

Owner's Response: So glad you had a great time. The best time to come is in the summer for tubing and kayaking. The river behind the home is very quiet without all the tubers and noise in Helen. You can tube or kayak and not see another person sometimes. Hope to have you stay again Nancy

Would definitely stay here again

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was true to all things advertised...clean, nicely decorated, well appointed and well positioned on the river. Was VERY peaceful to sit on the lovely porches, in the hot tub, on the river-front deck. The bed were comfortable and there were ample pillow choices. Looking forward to another visit.

We had a wonderful time staying at the Garden cottage.

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is a wonderful place to

stay near Helen! Finding a cabin that has both a gas grill and gas fireplace with a hot tub is hard to find! There is a wonderful fire circle in the back yard with a creek that runs back there also. It’s a perfect place to bring your children of all ages. This is our second year here . We love to come to see the fall colors! Nancy and Robert are wonderful hosts and the cabin is beautifully decorated.I highly recommend the Garden cottage!

Good relaxing vacation

  • 4 of 5

Very nice property. Clean with everything we needed for a long weekend. Surprisingly very few insects for such a wooded area. We spent a lot of time on the screened in porch, relaxing. The first day I tried to catch trout (which were everywhere) in the river in front the cabin. They didn't like my flies. It rained two inches that night which dirtied up the river and put my fishing on hold for the rest of the trip. I got some advice at a local fishing shop. I hope to try them again some day.

The layout of the cabin is great. Comfortable beds, nice kitchen, plenty of supplies, just a good family long weekend together. I would and some day hope to, stay at this property again.

Evacuated from hurricane to mountain paradise

  • 5 of 5

We were very fortunate to find this private cabin along the Chattahoochee River for our evacuation from hurricane Irma. Nana's cabin has all the amenities of any resort (hot tub, kayaks, fire pit, inner tubs for the river, etc.) but is private so there is more family time. We enjoyed listening to the river and song birds from the back porch and playing board games with the kids (We made them turn off their phones). It is close to Helen, Ga for touristy entertainment and Unicoi State park for hiking and zip-line rides. We really enjoyed our stay and strongly recommend Nana's Cabin to anyone.
