This historic reproduction cottage was built by the current owners in 2006. The cottage was built to be compatible with the period home on the property using historic details, antique paneling and mouldings, locally milled pine floors, and hand-wrought ironwork. The cottage sleeps 2 in a beautifully draped reproduction queen sized canopy bed. The main room features a wood burning fireplace, antique and reproduction furnishings and accessories, as well as seating and dining accommodations. An upstairs loft area is accessible by a hand made ladder, a perfect retreat for reading or game playing. The main level includes, a walk-in closet, fully equipped galley kitchen, and lovely bath with marble shower. Beautiful gardens surround the cottage and guests can enjoy a private brick patio with dining table, firepit and gas grill.
My wife and I truly enjoyed our stay. The cottage is beautifully done and is a great getaway. We would strongly recommend this property to anyone visiting the area. Thanks for a wonderful week.
Highly recommended, don't miss this little gem.
My husband and I enjoyed spending Christmas in this blissfully quiet, luxuriously comfortable cottage. Arrangements of fresh roses, a decorated tree, and soft music greeted our arrival. We were impressed by the high level of attention given to every detail inside the cottage, from the design of the tiny kitchen to the stacks of plentiful reading material. Each day of our visit we crossed over the James River on the free ferry service to explore Jamestown, Yorktown, and Williamsburg, then happily returned to the cottage to relax in the evenings. On Christmas day, when the weather turned cold and blustery, we particularly enjoyed having a real log fire in the open fireplace. It is difficult to imagine a nicer place to be, and we definitely would like to return for another stay in the future.
Everything was perfect! We really appreciated the personal touches like the fresh flowers and the music playing when we arrived. When we walked in it was like stepping back in time but with all of the modern conveniences you could hope for. We were only able to stay for a short weekend but I can't wait to come back again and stay longer! We couldn't have been happier with our stay.
A beautifully appointed gem tucked just off an easy accessible road that is only a ferry and short drive from Jamestown and Williamsburg. It is equipped to the last detail in the kitchen with the best appliances and furnished by a pro decorator with period pieces. What a peaceful retreat and plenty of space to unwind and meander the well kept gardens and lawn .... or relax on the patio for a morning coffee, tea, or BBQ amongst the hummingbirds. Also it is just a short trip to Smithfield, another sweet spot for sightseeing, ice cream, and dining.
We wanted something other than a hotel as a change of pace. We had our 2 teenage boys and they really enjoyed the cottage. Just a short 10 minute drive to the ferry that takes you over to Jamestown and Williamsburg. The cottage was clean and well designed. We felt like we stepped back in time. Thanks for a great experience!!
