This historic reproduction cottage was built by the current owners in 2006. The cottage was built to be compatible with the period home on the property using historic details, antique paneling and mouldings, locally milled pine floors, and hand-wrought ironwork. The cottage sleeps 2 in a beautifully draped reproduction queen sized canopy bed. The main room features a wood burning fireplace, antique and reproduction furnishings and accessories, as well as seating and dining accommodations. An upstairs loft area is accessible by a hand made ladder, a perfect retreat for reading or game playing. The main level includes, a walk-in closet, fully equipped galley kitchen, and lovely bath with marble shower. Beautiful gardens surround the cottage and guests can enjoy a private brick patio with dining table, firepit and gas grill.

Simply the best
What a great getaway from traffic, noise, and crowds. We feel rejuvenated from the sanctuary of the cottage. Thank you for the time to unwind!
Quite simply the most idyllic, lovely cottage and garden. It was a joy to return to every evening and our mornings were sweeter for being spent there. Kendall and Kent are gracious, helpful and communicable hosts who take wonderful care of this beautiful home. Our only complaint is that we didn’t stay longer! I hope for a return visit. Thank you!
Thank you for the lovely review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay.
Wonderful time despite the rain. The whole property is period specific with modern charm. Worth every cent. Why spend the same amount in a hotel when you can stay in a place like this.
The only things missing were period clothing and a horse drawn carriage. But I am sure we could have gotten that too. Thanks
My wife and I truly enjoyed our stay. The cottage is beautifully done and is a great getaway. We would strongly recommend this property to anyone visiting the area. Thanks for a wonderful week.
Thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed your stay. It was a pleasure.
Extremely well kept and thoughtfully decorated little getaway
Highly recommended, don't miss this little gem.
18th century charm with 21st century mod cons
My husband and I enjoyed spending Christmas in this blissfully quiet, luxuriously comfortable cottage. Arrangements of fresh roses, a decorated tree, and soft music greeted our arrival. We were impressed by the high level of attention given to every detail inside the cottage, from the design of the tiny kitchen to the stacks of plentiful reading material. Each day of our visit we crossed over the James River on the free ferry service to explore Jamestown, Yorktown, and Williamsburg, then happily returned to the cottage to relax in the evenings. On Christmas day, when the weather turned cold and blustery, we particularly enjoyed having a real log fire in the open fireplace. It is difficult to imagine a nicer place to be, and we definitely would like to return for another stay in the future.
This property is located in rural Surry County, just a short free car ferry ride from historic Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. This property is also within 45 minutes of other historic sites including Smithfield, Petersburg, and the famous James River Plantations. Easily accessible by car and convenient to both Richmond International Airport and Newport News Regional Airport. Surry County attractions include tours of Bacon's Castle, Smith's Fort Plantation and Chippokes Plantation and State Park. This rural area provides access to great local seasonal produce at numerous farm stands and markets. Several restaurants are located in the Village of Surry as well as a charming gift and garden shop.
