Quaint, Adorable, Prestine

  • 5 of 5

A beautifully appointed gem tucked just off an easy accessible road that is only a ferry and short drive from Jamestown and Williamsburg. It is equipped to the last detail in the kitchen with the best appliances and furnished by a pro decorator with period pieces. What a peaceful retreat and plenty of space to unwind and meander the well kept gardens and lawn .... or relax on the patio for a morning coffee, tea, or BBQ amongst the hummingbirds. Also it is just a short trip to Smithfield, another sweet spot for sightseeing, ice cream, and dining.

Very Quiet and Relaxing location close to Williamsburg.

  • 5 of 5

We wanted something other than a hotel as a change of pace. We had our 2 teenage boys and they really enjoyed the cottage. Just a short 10 minute drive to the ferry that takes you over to Jamestown and Williamsburg. The cottage was clean and well designed. We felt like we stepped back in time. Thanks for a great experience!!

Picturesque

As one of the J. Austen's characters would say, "I am excessively fond of a cottage" and with whom I could not agree more in this case. The cottage and surrounding property was the perfect alternative to the over-populated tourist traps closer to Williamsburg proper. It has a nice historic and intimate feel but still has most of the modern amenities. I was at first skeptical about having to take a ferry to reach Williamsburg, but my husband and I both actually ended up enjoying that part of the trip immensely. This isn't a place for a big family with a rigid non-stop schedule, but it is a great place for a couple who is looking for a relaxing and peaceful experience that is only a ferry ride away from the excitement. The only thing I would say we missed is wifi. Some people may like to unplug completely, but I always use a mobile device to look up restaurants, map things out, etc. when we travel and I do not have unlimited data (or the strongest cell signal) to always call upon. Otherwise it was perfect and I would definitely recommend.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for the lovely review. Regarding the wifi. There is wifi in the cottage. Unfortunately, in our haste to ready the cottage for your arrival we neglected to turn on the device. Sorry.

Amazing old world cottage - Like stepping back in time

  • 5 of 5

Beautifully decorated cottage with special care paid to every detail to make you feel like you have stepped back in time. This property is beautiful to walk through with lovely gardens and views of the pastures at sunset. We truly enjoyed the peace and quiet! We can definitely see us coming back and recommending to family & friends.

Fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

This historical replication is not to be missed-many many details from the door locks to the herb garden and "pewter" dishes. Out-of-the-way but convenient. Great hiking and biking nearby. Enjoy the free ferry-good schedule even on the holidays. We didn't even use the wifi over Christmas. The little kitchen was just right-just ask for more cooking pots if you are not a microwaver. Full size oven & fridge and everything you could need. Thanks guys for the luxury. We will return-hopefully longer term.

Lovely Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the guest cottage. The bed was very comfortable, and furnishings were beautiful. The unexpected "luxury" features were neat too... concealed appliances were wonderful in the kitchen and the marble shower was so pretty! The property is very serene. Our only snafus were getting check in/out instructions and we were told their would be wifi and wasn't (certainly not a big deal though... cell service is adequate once you are there... although we had little on the drive up).

It was wonderful to have coffee and a Keurig provided at the house for us... we stocked up on breakfast items and were able to have leisurely mornings before venturing out.

This cottage is a perfect retreat from a busy day of touring, but don't expect to pop back for a mid-afternoon nap (if you're touring Williamsburg/Jamestown/Yorktown, it's not that far, but a little cumbersome with the ferry to make it easy to come back mid-day. However, it's perfectly positioned if you're visiting Bacon's Castle, Smiths Fort or Chippoaks!

Highly recommend this little gem!

Owner's Response: Not too sure what happened here. We do have wifi. Wish the guests would have mentioned this to us on the beginning of their stay.
