Everyone in your group must be physically able to walk 30 seconds along a stone path to the bathhouse!
The rental will accommodate up to 8 guests. We charge a flat rate for the full rental regardless of the number of people in you party.
About the space
This is the Old Country Store Guest Quarters, which once served as the local country store for the Terlingua Ranch area. It is located on HYW 118, 20 minutes from the entrance of Big Bend National Park.
It is on a fully fenced acre surrounded by beautiful desert mountains.
It has heating and air conditioning, WiFi and a local & emergency calls only landline. It is one bedroom with a Queen sized bed, and a large open living space/dining area which has three additional full sizes sofa sleepers with 8 inch thick mattresses. We provide you with linens and pillows for all beds. We welcome you and your pets.
We supply complimentary breakfast food & snacks (such as cereal and ice pops) and lots of cold drinks and drinking water to enjoy during your stay. We also have a full sized refrigerator/freezer, a 2 burner cooktop, microwave, pop-up toaster and toaster oven for use during your stay. There is also a propane grill out back in the covered barn.
There is a covered/shaded little barn in the back with a picnic table, grill and hammock for hanging out, relaxing and enjoying the desert mountain views.
The solar powered bath house is a separate building that is just out back, within the fenced yard. There you will find a hot shower, fresh towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner and the toilet room. There is also a large utility sink on the bathhouse deck. The shower, toilet and sinks are all normal standard fixtures and appliances.
We also have a selection of books, games & puzzles for you to enjoy.
Also, just down the road is a pool at Terlingua Ranch headquarters that you may use for a fee.
A great base for visiting the Big Bend area. Just 15 minutes south down HWY 118 is the town of Study Butte/Terlingua where you can get gas and any other supplies that you may need during your stay.

Interaction with guests
This is a self check-in and self check-out rental. After booking you will be provided with detailed directions and the door electronic lock access code, as well as the WiFi password other rental information.
There is no cell phone reception here but you will have access to WiFi and a landline phone that makes local & emergency calls only. You can use this phone to contact us as well.

This is a private vacation rental, for your part only, it is NOT a house! If you have any questions as to the accommodations offered please let us know, we are happy to answer any questions that you may have.
This is an owner operated rental. It is our top priority to make sure that your stay is comfortable, clean and as expected.
Checkout is strictly before 11:00AM. PLEASE UNDERSTAND that someone will arrive at 11AM to prepare for the next guests and must have the house vacant in order to do so properly.
It is against house rules, illegal and prohibited to download any copyrighted material over our WiFi via file sharing programs or otherwise. We are required by law to report you if our ISP contacts us and requests that we do so.
There is no cell phone reception, we provide free WiFi and a landline phone that makes local and emergency calls only.
We provide 5 gallons of drinking water per stay. We are very water conservative in the desert and run off of rainwater catchment. If you require more than 5 gallons of drinking water or need water for hiking, etc please bring additional or you may purchase more at any of our local stores.
Please clean up food waste / messy stuff after yourself, there are trash bags and trash cans provided. Put your trash bag in the dumpster when you checkout.
This is the desert. There are common natural dangers around - things that can bite, sting and prick you. Always be careful and respectful of nature when outdoors.
It's also rocky, we recommend that you bring sensible clothing and footwear. Sunscreen is also a good idea.
This rental is not a childproof space. If you have children with you, you are responsible for them at all times.
We welcome pets, please supervise them when outside, as there are common desert dangers and the fence is a little high in areas and some animals may be able to go under it.
Lock the door and close the gate when you leave.

A direct 15 minute drive down HWY 118 south to the Big Bend National Park entrance and to Study Butte/Terlingua. Big Bend ranch state park and the famous Terlingua ghost town are a short drive down the highway.
Marfa Alpine and Fort Davis are a little over an hour north. Also Mc Donald observatory and lake Balmorhea state park .
Just 2 miles north up HWY 118 is the Little Burro Country Store where you can get groceries, supplies for the grill and any other odds and ends that you may need during your stay. 15 minutes south of town is Study Butte where you can purchase gasoline.
