About Amanda Hooper

My name is Amanda. I am originally from the Outer Banks, but I grew up in Virginia Beach. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to travel in my youth, yet the style in our home reflects the old Outer Banks. I am a single mother of two. This home is our actual home. We are offering to other travelers who would like to enjoy what we have everyday.

Amanda Hooper purchased this house in 2002

Why Amanda Hooper chose Northern Coast & Outer Banks

The Outer Banks is a unique place. If you are reading this, than you probably already know. Intense weather patterns, shipwrecks and pirates lace the history. Only hard workers could make their way on this beautiful barrier reef in the early days. Today, relaxation and play is what the Outer Banks is all about. This was the first piece of property my parents bought in their youth, around 1963. Together, they cut a path to the lot and cleared only what they had to. Although the area has grown, there has always been something special about this spot for my family. We built the house in 2002 and have loved the simple, playful nature found within ever since.

What makes this house unique

Whether playing corn hole after a long day at the beach is your thing or dozing in the hammock is more your speed, our house offers both. The quiet location mixed with playful nature of our home allows for the best of both. Wooded views with more than you need to enjoy your time away.

Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful experience at this house. It was very clean and felt like home.

The fenced in backyard was a great addition to keeping the dogs occupied while we lounged. The fire pit was great for making smores.

The location was great to be away from busy streets and not near tourtist type areas but also a very quick drive to the beach or any other attractions.

The price was the best for the area and definitely got out money's worth of this awesome trip and home.

Would definitely recommend anyone to stay here that is looking to get away either short term or long term!

Family friendly

  • 5 of 5

My whole family came including the dogs. The kitchens has lots of amenities, the house AC kept us cools, the walks to the beach were quick enjoyable excercise, the local dining was all fantastic, ans the owner was super friendly. The property is clean and did not see a single bug inside the house 😃. My only suggestion is to lather up on the bug spray if you hang outdoors because they are hungry. The location is great.

Owner's Response: Thank you Jamie! I'm so glad you and your family had a greet vacation. Yes, the mosquitos can be a little over zealous at times. :)

Great home to relax at.

  • 5 of 5

I was very pleased with the stay we had. The house was beautiful and very well maintained, well stocked. The backyard was fantastic. One of our favorite parts. Easy to find. Not on the water but still convenient unless you want to be able to walk to the beach. Quiet, safe, relaxing. I would highly recommend.

First time to visit the OBX

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a blast at the beach! This home is delightful! It is perfect for families of all stages, and friends that come along thoroughly enjoyed the home as well. The home is spacious, clean, well organized, and the fully stocked kitchen made it easy to eat in to save money.

Great owner, great house

  • 5 of 5

The owner is a very nice and welcoming person who was very flexible regarding a partial week rental off season. The house is in a quiet spot with a lovely fenced backyard (great for pets), complete with a fire pit. The house is spacious with a well-stocked kitchen. It is an easy walk to the beach and good food.

Home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

I'll admit I had to play phone tag with Amanda for a few days before connecting up to get a bit more info about the house and the check-in process. That was only just a little disconcerting because this was my husband's and my first VRBO experience and we didn't want to worry that the whole thing would prove to be a flop. Once I got to speak with Amanda though, any worry went right away with her very helpful and friendly demeanor and happy, positive tone of voice.

The house was as nice as the pictures and then some. It was beautiful and comfortable. Truly a home away from home. It was also one of the best stocked kitchens of a rental I've ever seen, in terms of the amount of cooking pots/pans/utensils available - which was very helpful for avid cooks like us.

My family has gone to the outer banks annually for a number of years now and always rented from realty companies in the off season to get cheaper rates. Not only did Amanda offer a great price for the time of year we were going, but she was extremely generous about letting us bring our dogs with us too.

We had been debating whether to take our vacation this year at the beach or go get a cabin in the woods somewhere, but with Amanda's house it is the best of both worlds. It was nice to be tucked back away from the sounds and business of others, backing up to a woodland preserve where tree frogs visited us on the back deck almost every night. Plus, the dogs appreciated having a back yard to roam freely in.

If this house stays up for rent we would certainly come back again. If it doesn't stay up for rent past this season then I encourage others to enjoy this little gem while they can.
