About Annemarie de Vries
Dutch-born, living mostly in London but citizen of the world really. I like to make my apartment as inviting as possible for you to have a home-away-from-home experience! Photography and art are big hobbies of mine. Other hobbies include nature and reading and if able to combine these, I'm in paradise!
Annemarie de Vries purchased this Apartment in 2007
Why Annemarie de Vries chose South Camberwell
The street. The people. The peace and quiet. The village feel. The quick bus or train journey into central London.
What makes this Apartment unique
A very homely and quiet garden apartment in one of the most beautiful areas of Southeast London. A home-away-from-home in the 'Big Smoke'.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Very clear instruction about the surroundings and transportation from the owner. Easy to communicate. Overall, a pleasant stay for us.
Cosy and cute
We had a pleasant stay. A short walk to the Overground station and you’re off to London!
Close to a number of shopping areas including cafes and restaurants. Also close to railway stn and access to many areas of London. Good facilities for our stay.
Jederzeit wieder willkommen! Herzliche Grüße, Annemarie
A so pleasent place to stay for visiting London
Annemarie's place is a lovely appartement to live. We have been visiting London for a week and after a long and crouwdy day, Denmark Hill is exactly what we needed to calm down. Bus and train are quite close (5 minutes walking) and there are also markets and Restaurant nearby.
The apartment is situated on a tree-lined street on top of a hill between East Dulwich, Camberwell and Peckham Rye. East Dulwich is locally nicknamed Nappy Valley with independent shops abound and where you'll find French pastry cafe's, delis, organic butcher and fish mongers as well as 'Yummie Mommies' pushing prams. Furthermore the area is full of pubs and restaurants and other places to hang out. Walking to diverse Camberwell along historic Camberwell Grove you will pass the Grand Union pub with its armchairs and chandeliers and onto Camberwell where you will have many economic ethnic eating options, an excellent tapas and unusual Chinese restaurant and many buses heading in all directions.
A short walk in yet another direction from the apartment will take you to Bellenden Road in Peckham Rye with restaurants such as Ganapati (South Indian cuisine), the Victoria Pub and Melange Chocolate, a quirky shop with a French owner selling hand-made chocolate in all varieties. You may have to shove some cats off the seats before you can sit down. Both Peckham and Camberwell are excellent places to see art and creativity in London. There are numerous galleries and in the apartment you will find an excellent map with some walking tours to get you to interesting bits in the area. Off-the-beaten-track examples are Dulwich Village and Nunhead Cemetary (which does have the 'Thriller' video look about it)
There are also convenient stores and a large supermarket nearby the apartment.
From the apartment, an 8 minute walk takes you to Denmark Hill station, zone 2 (with pub The Phoenix next door where locals amass after work), which is both a station on the London overground as well as a British Rail station linking you to Victoria in 9 minutes or to the City, St. Paul's and St Pancras International (Eurostar) in between 9-15 minutes . Furthermore there are many direct buses serving central London from near the property (bus 185, 176, 40) with the 176 functioning both as a day and a night bus taking you back 'home' throughout the day and night from the West End (stops near Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square, Soho, Covent Garden, South Bank) in under half an hour.
