About Anna Edmondson
Peter (energy engineer/sailor in training) had spent many childhood vacations in Inverness. Anna (editor, open water swimmer, yogi) discovered it as a college student at UC Berkeley in the 80's. The wild, romantic beauty of Pt. Reyes' moors and beaches captured our imaginations even before we met. One thing led to another and we were finally able to realize our dream of having a place of our own. Inverness is not for the faint of heart - it's unpredictable - at times foggy, cold and moody, other times sunny and exuberant. Here we find peace and inspiration. Even our young-adult boys look forward to unplugging and chilling out. We currently live in Oakland, California.
Anna Edmondson purchased this House in 2011
Why Anna Edmondson chose Inverness
Whenever we arrive at our place in Inverness from our busy lives in the city, we literally "drop in" to a more relaxed state of mind within minutes. Our house is modern and functional and makes us feel connected to the outside, no matter what room we're in. It lends itself to reading, writing, cooking, listening to music, or just zoning out. We walk 6 minutes and we're at Shell Beach which always makes me want to learn to paint with water colors. The restfulness and quality of light has a big effect on us. One of us is always reaching for the binoculars because the master bedroom and living room both have big expansive views across toward Tomales Bay and we're up high on the bluff so it is easy to see hawks at near-eye level swooping through the trees. I (Anna) love to swim in the open water and Tomales is one of the gentlest, friendliest places to swim around. And for all of the many times we've been here, we often go back to the Light House, or Keyhoe or McClure's Beach, places we always return to and discover something new. After a good nap, we'll improvise a light dinner and I have to say, there's nothing like chopping onions when you have a great view!
What makes this House unique
Multiple bay-windows with views from the living room/kitchen of Tomales Bay through the trunks of Live Oaks on the bluff. Place offers a combined feeling of beach house and tree-house. 8-minute walk from mysterious and beautiful, isolated Shell Beach, 8 minutes to popular Chicken Ranch (fun for kids and cocktails on the beach). NEW ADDITION AS OF MAY 1ST: Fully electric hot water heater and Electric Car Charger if you drive an electric car.

Beautiful location -- comfortable house
Convenient to all things in the area (and literally down the block from easy beach access and hikes), house is clean, comfortable and a great spot to spend some time away. Highly recommend!!
Great place to stay and a wonderful vacation- thank you
House was well appointed and very comfortable. View of Tomales Bay was desirable and delivered ( maybe a little trimming) but a very pleasant experience. Anna super communicative. Would love to return.
Bluffs at Inverness
My overall review of our stay was very good. The house is well kept, clean, with all the amenities you need for your stay. They have a great selection of vinyl records, nice views of the bay and comfortable beds to get plenty of rest if your working stiffs like us. I would most definitely recommend this property to a friend.
Welcoming well-appointed home, serene setting, beautiful views.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 3-day weekend “local getaway”. The house was so inviting and well-equipped. We took full advantage of its ideal location - a base for bike rides, long hikes, neighborhood strolls, backyard book-reading with views of the bay, Open Studio visits with local artists. We are very grateful for this delightful stay.
Christmas in Inverness
Each year we stay at Anna's house for Christmas, and each year we can't wait to return. The house is so well situated for hiking, shopping, and just gazing out the large windows at the water! the ping pong table in the garage is a huge hit with my sons (and me) and we all enjoy the music selection on the turntable. I messed up the key return this time, and Anna was so very gracious about it. she is truly a great hostess....
This lovely rental in the Seahaven district of Inverness is a 7-minute walk to the romantic, wild, yet sheltered Shell Beach, perfect for an afternoon picnic or early morning walk. Hop in your car and you are minutes away from all the beaches and sights of Pt. Reyes National Sea Shore. Kayaking, paddle-board, and sailboat rentals on Tomales Bay are 3 minutes away. An oyster fan? Head to Marshall and buy delicious oysters to eat there or bring home. For meat lovers, excellent choices at Marin Sun Farms in Pt. Reyes Station. Our favorite short hike is the Firetrail from Old Inverness - like walking through a Chinese watercolor of windswept pines and craggy stone walls up to Mt. Vision Road and views of the Pacific Ocean.
