About Sam Dyer
As fate would have it, Sam and Stephanie first met as neighbors in Southeast Portland. Sam, from rural Wisconsin with a degree in film and photography from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, met Stephanie who was about to embark on a design career in 2003. With a passion for music, architecture, and the arts, the pair sought to create a home for themselves in the dynamic city of Portland. Eager to start their lives together and willing to invest sweat equity, Stephanie and Sam purchased the main house at 705 North Humboldt Street in fixer condition before tying the knot in 2005. After a comprehensive DIY renovation and the birth of their first child in 2010, the ever-optimistic couple embarked on yet another project- employing Harding Construction, they demolished what was an unsalvageable garage to build an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU). Stephanie, with her design background, originally envisioned the building to comfortably accommodate her parents and inlaws. It was only in time that the project intentions expanded to accommodate visitors to the city they had come to love- specifically a short-term vacation rental. Among many personal touches, this project showcases two of Stephanie's product lines: the Topo Collection for Clayhaus Ceramics (the 3D ceramic wall tile used in the kitchen, fireplace surround, and stair risers), and Archipelago Tile- the patterned cement tile flooring installed throughout the first floor and exterior stoops.

Wonderful house, Amazing Location
One of the best locations in Portland, easy to walk to everything you will ever need and a cozy place to call Home for the time being. Great owners, would totally recommend!
Perfect for a couple!
Sam met us as we drove up and showed us the property. Everything was very clean and well-maintained. My husband and I were able to walk to the grocery store and a fabulous restaurant, Sweedeedee's, for breakfast twice. The loft bedroom was super comfortable. We would definitely stay there again should the opportunity arrive.
A perfect place for our stay - all too brief - in Portland. Well laid out with everything to make your time in the city easy. We did use public transport (No 4 to downtown from around the corner and back on the yellow line train). Lots of restaurants within easy walking distance. Wonderful place to stay.
S T A Y H E R E - Perfect basecamp spot for your next PDX trip
This was the best little pad and in a quiet neighborhood. Easy walk to the Mississippi District and just a minute or two's walk to Victoria Bar and Cullen's (corner store so you have access to beverage, fried chicken, and grocery if you want something in the mini fridge).
Sam was the best! Super nice host. The place is well-geared with housewares, etc.
TriMet Route 4 is your friend! Get a HOP/day pass from a MAX kiosk (we got one as soon as we landed and ended up getting a few days worth of unvalidated passes at the TriMet Office which covered all our travel needs). Redline to/from the airport was soooooo convenient.
Not to dog on Voodoo... but dang, Blue Star! ♥♥
Can't wait to come back!
This rental was perfect for our 4-night stay; it was beautiful, clean, and comfortable! The Mississippi area is a cool neighbourhood to walk around and the restaurant suggestions were awesome!
