Wonderful pre-wedding vacation in lovely home!

  • 5 of 5

This lovely home created the perfect atmosphere for spending time with the parents of our future daughter-in-law, two of their dear friends who were visiting from France, and our son and his bride-to-be! We had five wonderful days of sightseeing and walks and visits to the beach and five nights of cooking fish on the gas grill on the deck or steaming lobster and corn in the well-equipped kitchen. We are all "foodies" and were very happy with the selelction of pots and pans and equipment.

The house is large enough so that we were never in each other's way and yet had spaces big enough for us all 8 of us to congregate. Hal, the owner, was cheerful and helpful and made us feel right at home.

The house is an easy walk to the village and a perfect jog to the harbor beach. It is also a quick drive from an excellent Hannaford's Supermarket. We really enjoyed both the atmosphere and the location.

What a great place to stay in Southern Maine!

  • 5 of 5

My family traveled to York to attend my granddaughter's wedding at the York Harbor Inn, located on the beach, about a half mile and a nice walk away. Parking a car at the beach is a challenge in summer in York and that the young adults could walk there was a bonus not available everywhere. The owner, Hal, is very helpful and congenial. He made us feel at home. The house and lovely, landscaped grounds are his old family home (going back five generations) and it is large, well-kept, clean and utterly charming. We filled the house with 10 young and old adults, comfortably, and had room for other wedding participants to come visit us in the afternoon and evening for games and drinks. We had a great time, and much fun and laughter. Hal is a nice guy; he treated us as his friends. What more can I say? I would recommend this rental highly.

Amazing Property without all the Crowds!!

  • 5 of 5

This home is in the perfect location, away from the cramped tourist houses jammed along the beaches of York. Just walking distance the quaint York Village, the property is spacious, well appointed and is capable of lodging a very large family without being on top of each other. Plenty of rooms and beds to accommodate adults and kids alike with a great yard. No need to go Long or Short Sands beaches, the York Harbor Beach is just down the street and the best around. You will not be disappointed in this house. My wife and kids had an amazing time there on our last trip from Denver.

Perfect Farm House

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful property in York Village! My family recently rented this home and it was the perfect fit! We had a large extended family celebration in Maine and everyone from 2 years old to 65 had a fantastic time. This house is a lovely old farm house with additions here and there and overall is plenty large. Our party had 11 in it and we had plenty of room to play games, ride bikes, read books, sit and chat, etc. We learned from the owner the house has been passed down through generations and has lots of great history, which we loved! But it is also being updated so it is modern in all its functions. There was another review about air conditioners and they were, as stated by the owner's response, brought to the house the following week because our family enjoyed them in the very warm NE temperatures.

The photos do not do this house justice. It is a home that has a lot of charm! Another thing that was important to our family was the house we rented needed to be clean and it was. Plus we found all the sheets and towels easily assessable (which was really nice since we all traveled in from around the country) and the kitchen was stocked with just about everything one could need including fun plastic plates for lobster!

The York Harbor beach was a 15 minute walk or 3 minute drive and was a great gem to find. It really is the best beach in the area! It is a cove and mostly only used by locals so it wasn't overcrowded. Yay!

We also easily drove up scenic roads to Perkins Cove for a harbor tour which was really nice. We picked blueberries at The Friendly Blueberry patch in York-highly recommend. We made our way to Freeport which was about an hour and we walked around this town enjoying York Beach downtown with yummy popcorn and taffy.

And the owner was quick to respond to our few requests which we are always thankful when doing vrbo.

This house is on our list of favorites and we hope to come back as soon as we can. It was a great relaxing place to spend a week!

Thanks for listing it!

Fantastic Rental for a family reunion!

  • 5 of 5

This home is in the perfect spot for a family vacation. It's close enough to all the charming eateries in York (walk to get fresh bagels at the Bagel Basket, or grab pizza from the York House of Pizza), within comfortable walking distance to the York Harbor Beach and easy driving distance to any of the fantastic sights the York area has to offer. We made a point of having adult time at Chapman Cottage (newly opened) and York Harbor Inn, Karen is a gem and you can find her at both places!!

We rented the home with other family members, so we had folks of all ages. The little ones (6 and 9) were thrilled to take over the family room downstairs along with the teenagers (14 and 17); the adults had their own living room (tv too!) for comfortable gathering. The enclosed front porch was the perfect spot in the evenings to relax and rock away while enjoying lively conversations. The property was very clean and we were surprised on how well stocked the house came. No need to purchase any cleaning supplies or trash bags here! The kitchen came with alot of staples already provided (we had two lobster dinners there and had no problem having enough pots and plates) And having laundry available right off the kitchen was a luxury! Hal, the owner, went through the house with us upon arrival and did a check in with us upon departure - very easy going and very relaxed. If there was any complaint at all - it was how hot it was during our trip; and only one air conditioner to fight over!

I absolutely would recommend this property for any family (families) to rent and enjoy.
