Vintage Hawaiian home, built in 1947 and completely renovated in 2006 in old Hawaii style but with modern conveniences. We retaining the original charm and character, but updated and/or replaced the kitchen, the 2 bathrooms, all electrical, all plumbing, lighting, internet, and floors. This house was well planned when build to maximize the wonderful Hawaiian trade winds. We have installed a 23-foot floor to ceiling folding glass wall between the kitchen/living room and the large yard. This window/wall/door is the first thing we open and the last thing we close every day....if we close it at all.
The kitchen is fully furnished with new, full size, and top quality appliances. A 5'X8" kitchen island contains the sink, garbage disposal, dishwasher, and drawers containing William Samona dinnerware and many fine kitchen accessories. 5 burner glass top electric range and stainless steel refrigerator with ice maker.
BBQ--The kitchen island and the refrigerator and range are all within 3 feet of the outside lawn through the opening wall. The BBQ can be placed within your turning radius.
All rooms are big and accessible. All furniture is vintage and/or antique Hawaiian tropical style. All rooms have ceiling fans and a large percentage of the walls are opening windows.
We have fiber optic WIFI internet connections and TV service connections to each room. We don't watch TV, so no TV-- until it is requested. (Let us know what you want so we can get it/them purchased before your arrival.)
The north bedroom has a firm KING size bed, rattan sitting chair, antique Tansu closet/dresser and lots of windows. This room is away from the direct sunlight but facing the tropical trade winds and sounds of the ocean. (And some street noise.)
The South West bedroom has a bamboo frame QUEEN size bed, bamboo and vintage bedside tables and lamps, vintage wardrobe and dresser, and a ceiling fan. This bedroom is probably 50% windows on two sides and catches the trade winds nicely. The winter sunrise and stars rise come through the full wall of windows, giving warmth and early morning views. (Some street noise.)
The bathroom is between the two bedrooms (bathroom and bedrooms are separated from the living room/kitchen by a small hall with doors. The bathroom is all modern with a very large walk-in shower, a vintage built-in vanity, a large pedestal sink, and a roomie toilet area. We have lots of towels and bathroom supplies.
