A great stay in Lucca
This is a great situation for a relaxing holiday in Tuscany. The property is a short drive from the lovely town of Lucca (with lots of great restaurants to chose from), and close enough for days out to Pisa and Florence or the beach. We stayed in the ground floor of the villa, which managed to stay reasonably cool even without using the air conditioning. We made extensive use of the refreshing pool in the gardens. The villa is very comfortable - the kitchen was a little basic but sufficient for our needs. The property has a rather steep windy driveway up to a remote controlled entrance gate - we always parked outside the gate since the interior parking spaces were occupied by other residents. A car is necessary because I would not be comfortable walking on the local roads after dark. We had a great time and are happy to recommend the villa.
Absolutely incredible, a magical villa experience.
This ground floor residence was more than perfect for our family of four with visitors coming to stay at different times. A wonderful space with two separate living zones, yes, one for adults, the other for kids and believe me, everyone is happy. The kitchen and dining area is perfect to tuck into a Tuscan feast. You want for nothing.
This listing and the photos are absolutely accurate. Its a welcoming home with furnishings collected from a well travelled family. Artwork and books entice you to read up more about this beautiful area.
The layout is perfect for families, bedrooms are well spaced apart, all contained in one wing, whilst the main living areas are in the centre of the home and the kitchen /dining in the other wing. Plentiful amenities.
Property is definitely clean and well maintained given its circa 1600's. Its a villa, not a modern hotel room. Thats what we came here for, a true Tuscan villa experience. And thats what we got plus so much more.
Living through the summer here, we had the pleasure of extremely warm weather for its entirety. The outdoor area was amazing for us. The kids spent their time running around, kicking balls, running through sprinklers and swimming everyday. The pool area is perfect as its a secured area, safely gated away from the home and is of perfect depth for all ages. A very safe and fabulous pool with many sunlounges and shaded areas if desired.
Eating breakfast, lunch or dinner on the outdoor table provides for a magical experience as you overlook the river and the valley. Hearing church bells, watching the sun rise or set and the sky turn from day to night, you will never tire of this view. Blissful and magical. Many apertivo's were had on this table coupled with loads of laughter.
We stayed for 3 months and absolutely loved the different pace of life to that at home. We loved it so much that we will be booking for 3-4 months again next summer.
The owners were more than accommodating. Their directions and assistance before we arrived certainly were accurate. All I can say is that they did more than 'surprise and delight'. They were ever so helpful when we needed something, offered all the tips and hints for the area, with recommendations for schooling the kids to helping with IT and phone matters. Their fluency in English language is of absolute benefit.
What I love most is your privacy. You don't feel you are on top of each other, but if I felt alone, I know the owners are close by. Very comforting.
Lovely place to stay
We stayed a week at this beautiful villa near Lucca (10 minutes drive to the center of Lucca). Our ground floor apartment had a good layout, plenty of room and lovely furnishings. The villa is set up on a hill, so if you want to walk a dog, as we did, be prepared to climb some hills (we didn’t mind). The swimming pool is above ground so there are some rules to follow with its use (no sitting on the sides, for example), but it’s a good size and in a nice location, set in an enclosed area away from the villa. The owners live on site and are lovely people. There’s plenty to see within an hours drive - unfortunately we didn’t manage to see everything we wanted to in one week, so we’ll have to go back again sometime. The only negative thing I can mention is the traffic noise from a road at the base of the hill, but again, this didn’t worry us too much. All in all, a very nice place to spend some time in beautiful Tuscany.
