Several of the logs have unique chain saw carvings done by a local master, for example, the Bear!

Property Layout:

Log Retreat at Fish Creek

Main Floor: You’ll enter into the foyer of this beautiful log home. Immediately to your right lies the master bedroom, complete with King-sized bed, its own walk-out patio, and master bath. The master bathroom has his & her sinks and a large walk in shower stall with five shower heads that can be used in three different settings. To your left from the entrance, you’ll find the great room, where there is a dining table with seating for 9-11, the kitchen (open concept: only counters and beams divide this area) with four stools at the counter for kitchen socializing or informal dining, and a breakfast nook with seating for four. There is a gas fireplace in the comfy “northwoods-style” seating area, but no TV in the great room, to ensure socializing and family time. Also located on the main floor are the laundry room and a powder room. The great room has patio doors to the spacious wrap-around deck.

Lower Level: Heading downstairs from the main floor, there are two main areas, one to the left and one to the right. To the left, you’ll find a game room with pool table and a couch. There is also a bedroom located off this room, with double bed. To the right, you’ll find another social area, with wet bar, a second full-sized refrigerator, and microwave. There is a large flatscreen TV and a stereo tower (bring your MP3 player!). There are nine barstools in this room, with one large island for seating and two smaller tables along the wall. There is a bedroom with Queen-sized bed and a full bathroom with shower/tub combo located off this room.

Upper Level: Upstairs, there is an open-air loft looking over the great room, with a sofa sleeper, a second couch, and a flatscreen TV with blu-ray player. Or, turn the other way when you reach the top of the stairs, and you’ll find a bedroom with Queen-sized bed (with a walk-out patio), a full bath with oversized shower stall, a bedroom with twin trundle bed (shares patio with upper Queen bedroom), and the “bunk room” with its own walk-out patio and an assortment of double and twin beds to round out the sleeping arrangements.

Guestbook comments from the manager

I just wanted to send you a note that we left the house yesterday following the full instructions that were in the binder.

We had an absolutely amazing time in your lodge, as it was beautiful and well kept.

I look forward to renting this home again, and doing business with you all in the future.

If you like living in the great outdoors then this house is for you including an infestation of flies living throughout the home. The flies were literally "coming out of the woodwork" in this home by the hundreds. Spraying an insecticide did not prove efficient enough in eradicating the problem, rather creating a larger problem as thousands of dead flies ended up everywhere, including the beds. While the architecture is beautiful, the condition of the home is unsuitable and unsanitary, at least until a professional extermination is performed. Please be advised the property management team was aware of this problem and withheld this information from us prior to our stay even though we specifically asked if there was any insect/rodent problem before signing the contract.

Owner's Response: We're so sorry to hear about the problem with the flies! We actually were not aware that there would be a problem with your stay; if we knew there would be a problem, we wouldn’t have allowed you to stay here. We try to do everything we can to ensure our guests' comfort! When you say we were aware of the problem and withheld the information; we DO know that flies can emerge when heat gets turned on at a property for the first time in the fall (please note the dates of the reviewer’s stay), but we don't know when or where it will happen, and we certainly did not know that it would happen here, as this is the first season we are managing this property. We do ask owners we work with to hire professionals to correct these types of problems once we are aware of them, and we have of course already contacted this owner as soon as we were informed about the pests, to ensure future renters don't encounter this pest problem. We also do have a 24 hour on call number for renters to contact us during their stay if any problems such as this arise, which this reviewer did not choose to use, so we sadly could not do anything to address this issue while they were here. We want all of our renters to have positive experiences at our rentals and are very disappointed that this reviewer’s stay did not meet his/her expectations, nor our standards.

Glad you are available as rental again

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at the retreat a few years ago when it was known as the lodge. So glad to see you are taking renters again. I had a large group for a family reunion and we were all very comfortable. The pictures do not do this special place justice. The detail in the log construction is spectacular, it also helps with noise control which is a huge plus when staying with a group that ranges from infant threw senior citizens that would rather not hear the teens listening to music and playing games. Looking forward to getting everyone together again for some family time at this great retreat.
