Nestled deep in the heart of the south Jersey shore, lies the Eagle Manor estate which dates back to the early 1700’s. The estate is located in total seclusion on the Cohansey River, the deepest river in New Jersey, just a 15 minute boat ride away from the Delaware Bay.

The 12 acre estate is surrounded by more than 6000 acres of preserved land which provides some of the best hunting and fishing New Jersey has to offer. Bird watching at Eagle Manor is unparalleled in the continental United States due to its central location on the eastern migratory flyway and it’s large concentration of bald eagles, ospreys, and other raptors unmatched anywhere else in New Jersey.

The manor house can accommodate the largest of groups with 10 classically appointed bedrooms, 8 1/2 marble bathrooms and 6 fireplaces. The estate grounds also boast a large river lodge with a kitchen and dining hall, expansive multi-tiered 2400 sq. ft. deck overlooking the Cohansey, large private boat ramp, dock, billiard/game house, trap/skeet shed with automatic clay launcher, 5600 sq. ft. historic dairy barn, corn crib, and several other buildings of historic interest.

Eagle Manor has a long and colorful history which includes the revolutionary war, the underground railroad, pirates, bootleggers, smugglers, and ghosts. The historic manor home, known previously as the Sheppard Brick House, was built in 1736 by English settlers and is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. It features extremely rare and historic classic brick patterns and Flemish bond brickwork. It has been completely renovated to provide all necessary modern amenities while still preserving its original charm.

Amazing Property, Absolutely Beautiful!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 14 stayed at Eagle Manor for a week and had a wonderful time!! The house is recently updated and in good shape, easily large enough for everyone and lots of character. A larger kitchen / fridge would have been nice but the boathouse has another fridge for storage that helped. It was very warm during our stay and the AC held up pretty well. The property itself is amazing...hard to give it justice in a few words. Stunning scenery and not another house or property in sight. We played games on the lawn, bonfires at night, fished off the dock, the kids used the game house regularly, and all of us are already hoping we can return sometime.

Chuck was very helpful and responsive to anything we needed. For us it was the perfect place to get away and spend time together. If you like old houses , relaxing , and nature it's the place to go!!

Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

Our family got together for a week at Eagle Manor. Chuck was very helpful from the beginning, answering all our questions and even gave us a FaceTime tour of the property before we got there since we couldn't make it there in person. The house was large enough for our whole family. The views were beautiful especially the sunrise and sunset. The grounds were great. We fished both at the river and the pond. The whole family agreed that this getaway was one of the best ones we ever had. We look forward to going back at some time in the future.

Eagle Manor is a wild, secluded place in the middle of 6000 preserved acres. This means that there are no shopping malls or city centers right next door. However, there are many attractions within a short drive. The following amenities are a short distance from Eagle Manor:

Husted’s Landing - Marina providing full service maintenance for your boat and boat-engines

Sunoco - Closest convenience store with all the basics that you can grab in a pinch.

ShopRite - Grocery Store - there's one in Millville (see below) and Vineland, both about 20 minutes away

Shopping Mall - Millville shopping mall district. Has all the modern stores you would expect – Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, Target, Old Navy, Kohls, Staples, Dicks Sporting Goods, Best Buy, CVS, Bank of America, Joe Canals Discount Liquor, etc. Also has chain restaurants like Starbucks, Buffalo Wild Wings, Texas Road House, Chilis, Applebees, Red Lobster, Red Robin, LongHorn Steakhouse, Arby’s, Chick-fil-A, etc.

River Cruises Trips up and down the Maurice river. BTW – We may be biased, but you can see more eagles from our front lawn than you will see on this river cruise. It’s still fun for the family though.

NJ Motorsports Park - Park is the premier motorsports entertainment complex in the Northeast. Ton’s of motorsports, and other activities, such as paintball. There’s too much there to describe, you really need to visit the web site.

Motovation - Cool motocross park and instruction. Great for beginners. Also has ATV rentals. Note that ATVs, dirt bikes, and any other motor vehicles are prohibited in the wildlife management area surrounding Eagle Manor.

NJMP Field of Dreams - Another great motosports park on 85 acres. Open Weds-Sun.

Cedar Creek Sporting Clays - If you like clay shooting, then you have to visit this place! There are several hundred acres in the woods with multiple separate stations with multiple launchers at each. $39 for visitors.

Old Oar House Irish Pub - My favorite! – Irish pub with 50 draft beers and excellent menu. The beer is great and the food is even better.

Winfield’s - European-American cuisine in a contemporary, brick-walled dining room inside a former retail store.

Levoy Theatre - Old time theatre which has regular shows every weekend. Right across from the Old Oar.

Southwind Vineyard & Winery - Wine tasting, picnicking, and even yoga at this charming little winery

Hand & Stone Massage & Facial - The Millville, NJ Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa provides professional spa experiences at affordable prices seven days a week.

Cohanzick Zoo - I’m not a huge Bridgeton fan, but this is one good reason to go into Bridgeton. The kids will love the zoo.

Gallery 50 - Bridgeton art gallery. It has showings monthly. Not open every day.

Olive Tree - Pretty decent food with a bar with deserts from Cheesecake factory.

The Red Knot Gastropub - Interesting place with very large bottled beer selection and very interesting tasty menu.

Delsea Drive-In Theatre - A throw-back to the old days of drive-in movies. Put the kids in the back seat and celebrate some nostalgia with modern movies.

Fairfield Inn - The Fairfield Inn is not the nicest bar in the world, but it has the best cheese steaks and cheese burgers you will ever taste.

Historic Greenwich - Greenwich is a historic town on the other side of the river about 5 minutes downstream. It’s a throwback to a gentler time. Locals say “green-witch”, not grenich. The country store has good soups and sandwiches.

Sea Breeze - Seabreeze is a beach town that was under development, then abandoned. NJ has a plan to restore the breakwater at the beach to its natural state. In the meantime, if you go down the end of the breakwater you can have your own private beach where Ospreys and Eagles abound.
