Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 3 - 4 nights

About the property

Cottage is .9 miles east of the center of Black Mountain.

This charming fully-remodeled cottage will lure you into a peaceful state to make your mountain stay a wonderful memory. Enjoy beautiful hardwood oak floors with furniture and cabinets that were hand-crafted by a local artisan. It has two bedrooms both with queen-sized beds. The master suite has an adjoining huge bathroom with a new washer and dryer. The second bath has a walk-in shower. The unique front porch and long deck along the back of the house will provide outdoor space for relaxing. The spacious kitchen has brand new energy-efficient appliances and is equipped for gourmet cooking including basic supplies. All countertops are high-quality granite.

Finding another area with so much authentic charm and convenience for activities would be very difficult. Resting just outside the hectic pace of the city, your cottage is still only 15 miles away from the Biltmore House in Asheville. The town of Black Mountain (.9 miles west) is full of interesting options for antiquing, gift shopping, and the small-town charm of a local ice cream and chocolate parlor, the old Hardware Store, and outstanding dining throughout the area. Summers offer free musical performances each Thursday evening at Lake Tomahawk sponsored by the town of Black Mountain, where families, children, and pets alike can visit and enjoy the evening. No trip to the Blue Ridge is complete without a picnic on the Parkway and day trips to Mt. Mitchell, Lake Lure and Chimney Rock, Linville Falls and Blowing Rock, Lake James, Fontana Dam, Hendersonville, Waynesville, and many others.

About Karen Groves

This house was my grandmother's house that she built in 1952. I grew up in the house next door for all of the first 18 years of my life. So this is a special property for me. Black Mountain was a wonderful place to grow up. I live in Baton Rouge now and love to spend time in the mountains especially in the summer. I am a certified financial planner and live with six cats. I have traveled all over the world and love cooking, gardening and wildlife.

Karen Groves purchased this cottage in 2010

Why Karen Groves chose Blue Ridge Mountains

The house was in very bad shape following my mother's death. The house has been gutted and totally remade and enlarged as the cottage it was destined to be. From my travel experiences I have tried to incorporate things into the house to make guests feel at home with modern conveniences but still give a flavor of western North Carolina hospitality. I know that you will enjoy your stay in this unique home. The house next door (#432810) where I grew up is also available to rent making this property ideal for extended family or friends.

What makes this cottage unique

Enjoy the large deck that spans the entire back of the house as well as an incredible front porch. Have coffee on the porch in the morning sun and dinner from grill on the deck in evening. Watch the wild young rabbits play in the mornings. See the fireflies at night with their twinkling lights. The large modern kitchen is well-equipped to allow gourmet cooking. The house is located in a nice family neighborhood.

Wonderful Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We all absolutely loved the Craftsman Cottage. The layout was perfect and best of all it was so very CLEAN!!! Also close to the business section of town and all the restaurants we love. Was so convenient and nothing was wanted! We had a busy wedding weekend and I only wished we could have spent more time at the cottage and enjoy the front porch and back deck. A wonderful, inviting place!

It was a wonderful weekend. The cottage exceeded our expectations. There wasn't a need that wasn't met. Black mountain and the cottage welcomed us with open arms.

A black mountain beauty

  • 5 of 5

We love this house. The perfect place to kick back on the front porch or on the huge back deck over looking the large yard. The house is totally updated, I love the owners taste in decor. We were met by a wonderful neighbor lady, Darlene, that gave us a key and warm welcome. Thank you for a memorable stay Karen

What a great place

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect 2 bedroom 2 bath house for 2 couples and one 4-legged family member. The place was really cute and very clean. Everything was in place. We had all we needed to cook in. And a great yard to watch the eclipse. The next door neighbor is great too. And if you can't find something to do in Black Mountain then you aren't looking. For dining, try the Black Mountain Bistro. It is great.

Great House in a great spot!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great weekend with our little family at this house.

The house is perfect for a small family (we stayed with our 3 month old and dog).

It was close to everything and also a great place to relax and hang out.
