About Melisa Strickland
We are are proud stewards 0f nearly 2500 acres of pristine valley and ridge which creates the protected watershed of Big East Fork Creek. It is located 30 minutes west of Nashville (19 miles west of I-440 and 23 miles from Broadway honkeytonks; and 10 minutes north of historic downtown Franklin). We have been working on the retreat for several years and enjoy entertaining people passing through or staying for a week or two. I am a physician and my partner assists companies with trademark and intellectual property protection. Looking forward to your stay!
Melisa Strickland purchased this Lodge in 2012
Why Melisa Strickland chose Franklin
This unique home was built by its original owner and philanthropist Jim Leason on the Devil's Backbone, the original path of the historic Natchez Trail. Jim also built the charming covered bridge on Big East Fork. I purchased Jim's home and property, not only for their beauty, but to protect the waters and biodiversity of the valley.
What makes this Lodge unique
The Lake Trail house is encircled by a wonderful wrap-around porch which offers fantastic views of the surrounding forest. The house is named for the walking trail which leads down to the 6-acre lake at Big East Fork Retreat. The east wing is specially separated from the west wing offering very private quarters to our guests in each wing. Adjacent to Natchez Trace National Park (with bicycle access) and Big East Fork Retreat (hiking, canoeing, kayaking, sauna, hottub, fireplace socials, theatrical stage, music stage, movie theater). Minutes to historic Franklin and Leipers Fork. Hike through gorgeous forest to hidden pond and organic farm. hiking trails. Horeback riding available by appointment.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Nice cabin in the woods
If your wanting to be in the country and out of the city this place is for you. But if your wanting to see downtown Nashville then stay closer to the city.
Glad you enjoyed your stay and were able to walk down to the lake and take in the Spring. The garden literally sprouted while you were here! Uber and Lyft serves us. 23 miles to Honky Tonks. 5 miles to Franklin.
We love being in the country, but close enough to ride our horseless carriage to the city!
Very secluded and beautiful area. Quaint home and very accommodating.
It was a perfect area for our party since we were doing the TN Whisky Trail.
Great place to relax
A little hard to find but worth the trip. Peaceful and secluded.
Don't miss the open-mic night at Leiper's Fork Puckett's Grocery
