Dave and Melissa Shipek are both retired from their careers as a firefighter and teacher. Born and raised in California they decided to live in the wilderness and share their experiences with all who wished to have an extreme contrast from urban life. They live on the same 30 acres and offer a wide variety of activities plus gourmet meals.
Melissa purchased this Cabin in 2012
Why Melissa chose Bondurant
This property is one of a kind with the combination of solitude, nature, a personal chef and access to Jackson Hole to enjoy the towns' many diverse offerings. It was a dream come true for Dave and Melissa and we hope it is for you too.
What makes this Cabin unique
Reflection Cabin is dedicated to Melissa's grandfather who lived during the same time as Geronimo and was a pioneer in every sense of the word. It is also dedicated to her father who passed away at 99 years old. It carries the antique feel of a wood burning stove and ice box and is decorated in western and Native American style.

Beautiful but be aware
The cabin is beautiful and remote. It is very clean and comfortable. There are a few things you should be aware of before you go. The cabin has no electricity or running water. The private shower is outside and if it gets too cold you will need to use the bathroom in the home. The lodge is actually their private home and you will use their master bathroom. So you will need to schedule your showers when they are available. Melissa and Dave are wonderful and very accommodating so it is not a problem as long as you know going in. You should definitely plan on eating at their wonderful restaurant, The Branding Iron. Dave is a fantastic chef. Very quiet and peaceful setting. The wood stove will certainly keep you warm in the coldest weather and the bed is so comfy. Great place to stay as long as you know what to expect!
Beautiful cabin, but not what we expected.
The cabin and its surroundings are stupendously beautiful, however we were not expecting to have no plumbing or running water, and no electricity in the cabin. I also was not aware that the cabin is located approximately fifty feet from the owner's house. Melissa was very accommodating and polite, but if you need to charge your phone or use any electric appliance, the only place to do that is on her front porch.
Ideal quiet mountain setting.
Perfect place for getting away from it all. The cabin is comfortable and beautifully handcrafted. Hosts Dave and Melissa are amazing! Plenty of great hikes nearby, and don't miss the delicious food at the Branding Iron Cafe.
Absolutely gorgeous & peaceful
The cabin was beautiful & immaculate.
Very relaxing cabin
Great place to stay. Really enjoyed all the wildlife. David and Melissa were great. Gave us a lot of ideas on things to do away from the normal tourist stuff. Their restaurant the branding iron was very good. Really enjoyed our time in the cabin. We will be back. Thanks Kevin and Angie
Beautiful and Peaceful!
The cabin and surrounding property is truly unique and beautiful. David and Melissa are gracious and helpful hosts. They have put a great deal of thought and effort into making the cabin functional, yet rustic and private, so that visitors feel comfortable and peaceful. Take a walk or hike and enjoy the surroundings and the beautiful wildflowers, enjoy the drive to Jackson for shopping, explore the wonderful fishing in the nearby rivers, or just enjoy the peace and tranquility of the cabin itself. Thank you, David and Melissa, for your gracious hospitality - we were able to relax and were blessed by the whole experience and look forward to another visit. This property is amazing. Nestled amidst apen and fir trees at the end of a 6 mile dirt road you will experience a beautiful new cabin following an 1800's theme. You can be secluded away from everyone and everything or enjoy the attractions in Jackson Hole. This cabin is not like any other.
