After a day on the beach, water, or wildlife refuge watching birds and ponies, relax at Sans Souci, located on the land where Misty of Chincoteague once grazed and immediately adjacent to what remains of her pasture, where new ponies are boarded.
Sans Souci is French for 'no worries' or 'carefree,' and that's what your vacation will be when you stay in these charming accommodations. Decorated in whimsical Eastern Shore Americana and beachy island living, this home has an open downstairs floorplan and unique upstairs ceiling lines. A large screened front porch is a perfect place to enjoy a cool drink, while watching your children safely play or ride bicycles on the quiet cul-de-sac.
The open first level design includes a living room, dining area with ceiling fan, kitchen, and large island with seating where everyone can hangout while meals are prepared . A separate room on the first level, the Americana room, serves as a television viewing room or sleeping area with two extra-long twin sleeper sofas; just flip the backs up (or leave them as is), and they are ready to use (extra foam toppers for comfort available). This room features a ceiling fan and sliding French doors that open onto the back deck with a view of Misty's pasture. Across the hall is a full bath and the washer/dryer closet.
On the second level, you'll find a full bath, master bedroom (the Dune room), and 2nd bedroom (the Bermuda room). The Dune room features a seating area for two, walk-in closet, and direct bathroom access. Or wake up in the Bermuda room, where you can look out the window to Misty's pasture. Both rooms feature a queen-sized bed, television with streaming Wi-Fi player, ceiling fan, multiple windows, and charming ceiling lines.
The large screened porch features a ceiling fan and light and a table with chairs. Outside enjoy the long drive way with ample parking, the floral plantings, the deck, and the shower with hot and cold water.
Sans Souci is within walking distance to Captain Bob's Marina, Curtis Merritt Harbor (an excellent location to view a rocket launch off Wallops Island), a summer trolley stop, the area where the ponies come ashore after the pony swim, and the route used to herd the Chincoteague ponies to the carnival grounds during pony penning week in July. It's less than a mile from Memorial Park where visitors will find tennis courts, basketball courts, a playground that includes a huge wooden pirate ship, a skate park, a fishing/crabbing pier, ball fields, a boat ramp, a pavilion, and restrooms; about one mile from downtown shops; and about four miles from Assateague Island National Seashore/Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge.
*These accommodations are located on a quiet, family-friendly cul-de-sac. If you are interested in a "party house," this is not the house/location for you.
