Quaint, romantic beach cottage located in the heart of Rehoboth Beach; a block from Rehoboth Avenue and 5 blocks to the beach. 2 Bedrooms with Queens, 1 Full BA + outdoor shower, and attic loft bedroom with pull down stairs suitable for teens and young adults. Very well equipped kitchen. Take advantage of off-street parking and walk to restaurants, shopping and the farmers' market. AC window units, washer/dryer, wi-fi, cable TV, HBO. Ideal for two couples or small family.
My husband and I grew up in Delaware and have many fond memories of Rehoboth in the '60's and '70's. This place is the perfect example of what we have in mind when we think of a beach cottage--small and quaint, but with everything one needs for a comfortable stay. The kitchen is fully equipped, although we mainly patronized the many restaurants in the area. We enjoyed the easy walk to the boardwalk area each evening, and the outlet stores are a short drive if that interests you. Two minor suggestions: we found the cable reception kept fading in and out, which made watching an Orioles game a bit of a challenge:-/. Also, supplying towels and bed linens would have made things easier. But these things were minor, and we would definitely stay here again.
The Little Cottage was great for our family's beach vacation. The in-town house allowed us to walk wherever we liked, and was very comfortable for hanging out and relaxing, day or night. Frankly, it offered more space and comfort than we were expecting from the photos and past reviews. This was great for six of us.
Our daughters, ages 5 and 4, loved the upstairs bedroom, which they deemed their "clubhouse." The queen beds in the other rooms were lush and comfortable, with closets and furniture in those bedrooms providing enough storage space for us.
The kitchen was large, with plenty of room for multiple people to move and cook and prepare meals. And the kitchen had everything you could need.
While the house has no deck or porch, the surprise for us was the garage, which is furnished with a table and chairs and plenty of room for relaxing and socializing outside in the evening.
There are more than enough beach chairs (really nice ones) and other beach gear.
We had read some previous reviews from years past that mentioned a musty smell. So we were prepared to grin and bear some of that. But we can honestly say there was NO smell at all. It was pleasant upon arrival and throughout the week.
If there was one thing that caught us off guard it was that there are a couple smaller cottages behind The Little Cottage, and the residents of those units must walk up The Little Cottage driveway and right along the side of the house in order to reach their units. Until we figured all that out, we thought people were trespassing right outside. ... But once we realized what was happening, it was never an issue.
We found the landlord to be very responsive and in-touch throughout the rental process.
And for being one block off Rehoboth Ave., it was remarkably quiet. All in all, we'd recommend this house for groups of six or less, for anyone looking to be in town but without the high price point of the first few beach blocks.
We stayed at the little cottage for a week's vacation with five adults and a baby. This house had everything we needed and it was a great stay. We found the location to be very convenient, with the restaurants and the beach within reasonable walking distance. We really appreciated the use of the beach chairs, umbrella, the extra parking pass, and the use of the washer and dryer. The kitchen is well stocked, including all cookware, utensils, and lots of different glasses for any cocktail you might wish to make. It's unfortunate that some other reviewers here did not read the description provided by the owner. He honestly and accurately describes the property, and it was a great and affordable time for our family.
Although it's called The Little Cottage it was the perfect size! We fit perfectly as two small families each with a 14 yo boy (who stayed in the attic.) We all loved it! The kitchen was perfect for cooking and the house was close enough to go out for a bite to eat in or go out and listen to live music. The place was very clean and very comfortable and everyone seemed to enjoy the outside shower more than the inside one! We are ready to make this our annual summer rental and hope to come back again in the fall! Thank you so much!
For over 35 years we would spend much of August staying at a family owned cottage in The Pines. In 2008 it was sold, torn down, and replaced by a mega house that just doesn't fit. The Little Cottage's location, design, and quaint charm rekindled our memories of how this town used to be and we loved it. We walked everywhere except for the beach. The parking pass and the quick ride down Columbia Ave. made driving to the beach a breeze. Our dog loved the fenced in yard too. The kitchen was extra large and well stocked and the beach equipment was first rate. It is a wonderful bargain. We have already contacted the owners to reserve time for next year. There were 5 of us (including one 4 month old) and a dog and there was lots of space. I peeked up into the second floor and was amazed at the room up there if needed. 3 beds and 2 air conditioners with a slanted ceiling. The only down side is the single bathroom. We had no problems with just the 4 of us and the baby. However the house can sleep up to 7 and that could cause a bathroom back up at times. Although the additional outdoor shower was preferred by the guys. With the drive way and the parking pass we were able to park our 2 cars directly next to the cottage and easily unpack at all times. We liked the washer and dryer which came in handy when when needed.
The owners were quick to respond to our Internet questions and we appreciated that too.
The house was clean and well appointed - the owner was pleasant and responsive. All the info we needed was written in the instructions by the fridge - but we missed a few details and called. The owner responded quickly and pleasantly. Several reviewers mentioned mildew - which is not uncommon for a beach house - we could smell some mildew, but the surfaces were all clean and dry and it was quite tolerable - we stopped noticing after a few minutes in the house. We were able to walk to shops and the beach - a bit of a walk to the beach, but a parking pass is included, so if you want to carry chairs, etc. to the beach, you're covered.
