About Jochen Liesche

Hi, my name is Jochen and I am the owner of Landhaus Quilcene. Originally from Germany, I have called the Seattle area home for over twenty years now. I have created this private forest retreat for my family and friends in the German Landhaus ('country house') tradition. When time allows, we come here to relax, talk, play games, sit by the fire, watch a movie, go hiking, explore nearby towns, and, above all, forget the stress of the work week. Since my family and I are using the Landhaus frequently ourselves, we have taken great care of maintaining and decorating it to make everyone feel welcome and create a great experience in the country.

Jochen Liesche purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Jochen Liesche chose Quilcene

Everybody who has stayed here always had a great time and mentions how relaxed they felt afterwards due to the serene forest setting and fresh air. Many of our guests have come back year after year and our guest book is full with nothing but compliments and people's fond memories of the time they spent here.

What makes this cabin unique

All guests love our screened and covered sun porch that allows them to sit outside and enjoy the nature views of the surrounding forest and Dabob valley even if it should rain. A quartz heater provides warmth outside when the temperatures drop. The two adjacent heated guest cabins are very cozy and afford their residents a lot of privacy while being only steps away from the main house.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This retreat is wonderful. It is decorated with a designer's touch, but in a very cozy and inviting way. All amenities that you need such as fridge, stove, etc... The grounds are beautiful, easy access to some nearby shops for supplies and central access to other fun activities on the peninsula. We stayed in the house comfortably with 4 adults and a toddler.

Perfect for a multi-generation family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay. The house and cabins were clean, well maintained and comfortable. The beds were comfortable and I loved the quilts. The two separate sleeping cabins were perfect for our adult son and daughter in law as well as our 16 year old daughter. I was impressed by the kitchen. I am used to VRBO’s having minimal pots and pans, utensils and dishes. This kitchen had nice pots and pans, utensils, dishes and serving bowls. The dining room table was beautiful wood and comfortable chairs. We sat and played games for hours. The only thing I can think of to make this place better would be an additional bathroom, but we made it work, so don’t let it hold you back from renting this gem of a vacation home.

A wonderful 2017 Thanksgiving

  • 5 of 5

Kids and dogs loved romping around the surroundings, inside was a perfect size and very comfy. Appliances were all good (exception being dryer, which we were notified about ahead of time). We didn't need make use of the two separate/detached sleeping structures, but they looked amazing - I wish the kids were a bit older and had opted for them. Peaceful area, very relaxing.

Kicked myself for not bringing a TV antenna as trying to stream the "mandatory" Macy's day parade. Provided TV and disc player were excellent otherwise.

Kids thought the water tasted a bit off, so a Brita would've been nice to have.

A retreat in the woods

  • 5 of 5

We recently had a lovely stay in the Quilcene Landhaus. The cabin is tucked away in the quiet woods but is still a convenient home base location for exploring the area. It is an enchanting place: comfortable, beautifully decorated and complete with a well supplied kitchen. We will definitely return.

The host, Jochen, was very prompt in responding to our initial inquiry and in answering questions. Staying at the Landhaus was a wonderful experience from beginning to end.

Very comfortable, charming home.

  • 5 of 5

This cozy, well-equipped home is located within short drives to many beaches, hikes, and sights of Hood Canal and the Olympic Penninsula. The home is nicely decorated and has lots of "special" room to relax and enjoy, from the sun deck to the extended open deck to the extra cabins. Plenty of room for us to play games, visit, and recover after a full day of activities.
