Minimum 2 night stay! Preference given to inquiries of longer stays. The calendar here at VRBO IS UP TO DATE, you do NOT need to email to ask if available. ONLY email if you are interested in more information or a reservation. No smoking. No dogs, (small clean cats ok)

SAFETY -- You must be VERY careful with small children due to cliff & beach in back yard !!! (In response to many questions... The cliff behind the house is 'lined' with boulders. Access to the private beach is by walking down on the top of these boulders. You can also do a 5 minute walk around the block to access the beach from a lower point. but the moral of the story is... ACCESS TO THE PRIVATE BEACH IS AT YOUR OWN RISK! Please watch the video.)

CHECK-OUT/IN -- If reserved before or after your stay, regular check-out/in times are 11am/3pm for cleaning purposes. (Please check VRBO's calendar here just before your arrival to see any updates.) If there is no one before/after your stay then we WILL be flexible with these times.

SECURITY DEPOSIT -- We just paid A LOT of money for a FANTASTIC (luxury feel) remodel, so we only want SERIOUSLY NEAT & consciencous renters! We are SERIOUS about the security deposit.

PARTY-ERS -- Yes, this is a beach house and we want everyone to HAVE FUN! we do NOT want to turn it into a Frat House! Parties that are respectful to our super-nice neighbors are certainly understood and encouraged, but NOTHING out of hand.

About Shurong

A professional couple with our primary residence only a 20 minute drive away. This is our dream 'getaway' from the fast pace of SF & Silicon Valley. We hope to use the beach house one to two weeks a month, and rent it the others.

Shurong purchased this house in 2012

Why Shurong chose Pacifica

It has the most incredible views we've ever seen! This is the closest house on the beach to San Francisco!

The secret is there are maybe less than a hundred beach front properties like this along the Pacific coast south of SF down towards the LA area, and they surely won't be building any more.

What makes this house unique

Did we mention it is Beach Front! The literally unobstructed 180 degree views of the ocean are amazing!

Stunning View

  • 4 of 5

It was such a beautiful house with stunning view. The house has an open floor plan and we (group of 7 adults) all feel very spacious. We enjoyed the view the most and the sound of waves. We do bring sleeping bags to sleep on the couch though as the rooms can only accommodate 4. The garage room is too cold and noisy (with the wind pounding the door sound) to be used in sleeping. The kitchen is very functional. But it would be great if some of the dinner plates are not broken. The dish washer doesn't work very well either. Overall, we had a great time.

Beautiful! Just as described.

  • 5 of 5

This was a lovely location for a family getaway and reunion. Open the front door and the view was breathtaking. The kitchen was amazing, and the beds comfortable. I chose to sleep in the living room to not miss a single, relaxing and gentle roar of the waves. Outdoor seating added to the enjoyment. Thank you, Home Away, for an excellent recommendation.

Best Relaxation/View Ever

  • 5 of 5

I am giving this property 5 stars SOLELY based on the view/the ocean being so close. I have never experienced such relaxation. Sitting in the living room of this house with the doors and windows open is nothing short of amazing. It's worth every penny they charge. The house was newly remodeled and was nice and clean. The outdoor area was phenomenal. It got a little chilly at night with the wind coming off of the Pacific literally right in front of you but still extremely enjoyable, and obviously you cannot control the weather. The neighborhood is nice and quiet. The location is prime to SFO and anywhere on HWY 1. The house is very bare. It doesn't take long to figure out why- the wind carrying that salty pacific water through the air RUSTS everything. The house was in great condition, but you could definitely see the wear of the mighty Pacific. Seemed like a small price to pay for the location. There are only a few things I would suggest to INCREASE your experience while here...

1. Print & leave the instructions on the counter. It was hard for me to sort back through all of my emails to find it constantly looking for how to adjust the thermostat or turn on the gas fireplace (which didn't work for us- but thats ok).

2. Add a welcome bag/basket for each check in. In ALL of the VRBO's I have stayed in across the country, there has always been a welcome bag. Include house rules, sparkling water, coffee, coffee filters, and other very very basic items. Only costs a few dollars and it will go MILES with your renters.

3. Upgrade the dishes- specifically coffee cups & wine glasses. They were entirely too small for my liking!

Overall, when we come back to spend a week sightseeing ALL of Hwy 1- I would definitely stop back through here and stay again.

vacation with renovations

  • 3 of 5

This was a very beautiful location for my mother daughter trip. Views of the ocean are unbelievable and resulted in some amazing pictures of my 8 month old daughter and her glam'ma! The one tragic issue is that the place is under some renovations. The owner contacted me on our way to the house in the morning and let me know that there is some work being done but it is on the outside of the house by the garage. The owner even offered a discount for the inconvenient. When we arrived, there was some work being completed on the inside, however was finished shortly after we checked in. Unfortunately there was constant work being completed on the outside and would cause the workers to be walking around the house or blocking off the front door. We did our best to enjoy the trip while we could however on our last morning the painter arrived at 8 am and started sanding down the garage door which could be heard through out the house. I was able to ask him to wait to finish that work until later and he was very understanding. Other than the construction the house was a dream. The owner was also very responsive to my concerns. Had the fireplace worked and no construction this would have been a 10/10 experience.

Amazing view and location! Although the house has some flaws, it suited our needs perfectly.

  • 4 of 5

To properly set the scene, we were a group of two married couples celebrating ten years of marriage in the Bay area.

We had a good idea of what we wanted to see and do. This location provided a perfect, relaxing setting outside of San Francisco with easy access to every part of the city. With mid-week, morning traffic we were able to reach the northern part of the city (Golden Gate Bridge) in 45 minutes. The evening commute was closer to 25 minutes.

Our itinerary included day trips to Napa and Monterey. The location south of the city made it feasible to have a rich and diverse trip with plenty of time in San Francisco.

Although the location and amazing ocean view are perfect, I'd be lying if I didn't say we were a bit underwhelmed by a few things regarding the house. It is clear that an effort has been made to update the place but there are still signs of age here and there as well as a few head-scratching features included.

The frosted glass in the bathrooms allowing other guests to see silhouetted figures as well as the fireplace that looks through to the master bedroom left us to assume privacy was not atop the priority list. There is a screen in the master bedroom to cover the fireplace but still a bit awkward.

Cooking utensils, spices, and other things standard to a home kitchen were a bit sparse. We had to get creative a few times when we were making meals to find enough larger dishes and baking pans. We also had to buy other basics like coffee filters, salt, and pepper. We left what we bought and hopefully pieces will be added over time.

There were also a few understandable things like corrosion on doors and lamps due to salty sea air after prolonged periods with the back door open, which is the best way to experience the place by the way. Other signs of wear and tear that don't really show in the photos become evident upon inspection. The dishwasher cleaned well but never cycled off on its own. Had to stop it manually.

One final rub was that we had a dumpster and discarded mattress in our driveway for the entirety of our stay. It wasn't truly a problem but we found it a bit odd and unsightly for a vacation property. I assume this isn't a permanent fixture.

Now that I have beaten the place up, I would have to say the location is perfect and the view is breathtaking! With a few touch ups, this house would be perfect!

The owner was flexible and easy to work with. We received our full deposit and had no issues.

View can NOT be beat!

  • 5 of 5

With family visiting from Michigan, this was a perfect getaway. We really thought that the picture online of this home with the ocean view must have somehow been staged--because it looked SO close; however, there was no "staging". The beautiful ocean was truly that close--and the waves were much bigger than we were used to, so the crashing of the waves were more loud then what we were used to, but it was GREAT! None of us could believe it. The house was perfect for the 4 adults and 2 children. The extra/bonus room was perfect as a play room for the 7 & 9 year olds. (We all even put on a talent show in that bonus room.) The openess of the home was perfect for visiting. We could be in the kitchen or living room and all still be able to see and talk to each other. (We do wish the fire place was working, but, we did do just fine without it.) Highly recommend!
