Beautiful view of the lake
We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. It was very spacious and had a large kitchen.
Everything we needed was at the cottage, but bring your own chairs for the outside and watch the boats and beautiful stars at night, and all your paper products, but everything else was included.
If we had any problems we called Chris and Pam, it was fixed or completed the same day or next day by Dave, who was very helpful, they were minor things and we were happy with the response.
Also rent the pontoon and you get to enjoy the chain of lakes, Marble lake has a wonderful petting farm that our grandchildren really enjoyed it is on Corn Island. We also went there for the boat races and listened to the band, it made a great day of fun.
Thanks Pam, Chris and Dave for a wonderful week.
Filthy and the lake is too! Very dissappointing!
We arrived and the door combination wouldn't work. Called the owner and he let us in and left. Before we were five steps in the door you could see white cat hair covering everything. We tried to clean it up, but the vacuum was broken. We looked around and noticed bloody meat juice on the kitchen floor, wall and frig. Both toilets were filthy with urine. We called the owner and he came back, apologized, and said he was having trouble with his cleaning person. He said he would get help, a vacuum and supplies and clean it himself. We left to go visit family and returned three hours later. They were gone. Both floors were cleaner. There was still cat hair all over the beds. The table was covered with sticky stuff, the toilets, sinks, and beds were still dirty. Hair in the tub. We left and bought our own cleaning supplies and cleaned it. We also bought our own bedding so we didn't have to sleep in the cat hair. As has been mentioned the softener doesn't work & everything is covered in rust. The kitchen ceiling has a large black water spot from leaking as does the bathroom ceiling. The shower curtain was broken. The patio umbrella was broken. There is a hot electrical wire sticking out of the ground in the backyard. The grill has no igniter & there are no matches. All the ceiling fans & exhaust fans were covered/plugged with dirt. The house is sparsely supplied. There was one dish rag and it was covered in food & a dead bug. On a good note the AC worked. To make it even worse, we stayed here so our kids (10-11) could get some swimming in. When we inquired about the house we specifically asked the owner "Is the lake good for swimming OFF SHORE?" The reply was "Yes, the lake is nice for swimming but it has no beach". I took that to mean "Yes, it was good to swim, just no sandy beach to play on". That is not the case. The access area has a black bottom of loose mud/dirt/leaves. I tried to stand up in the water and sank up to my knees in muck. We went back to town and bought floats for the kids but after two days of washing the black off of them & picking off leaches we went go-carting instead. We did explain our dissatisfaction to the owners and they did refund us $200.00, which did not cover the cleaning supplies or the bedding we had to go buy, or the time cleaning. We have stayed in VRBO homes before and never had a problem. Wish the 7-11 review would have been posted before we booked, would never had booked it!
Filthy and poorly maintained
Everything was dirty. Floors unswept and carpets not vacuumed. Told the kids to keep their shoes on while in the house. Mattress pads in the beds and the pillows were stained yellow. Had to wash them before we made the beds. Countertops, cabinets and refrigerator were dirty and needed to be cleaned before we could use them. One of the comforters had stains all over it too. Shower heads were so blocked that only a third of the holes had water coming out and it was shooting like laser beams. The house is on well water with a softener, but there is no salt in it. The softener did wake us up in the middle of the night though by cycling. The toilets were very old and everything below the water line was dark brown from the well water. There were only two glasses in the house and a few coffee cups. The cups were stained. Needless to say, we didn’t eat in the house at all like we had planned. The outside of the house was filthy as well. Needed to be power washed. There was a patio out back but no furniture to sit on. The WiFi didn’t work and we were given another WiFi to use (the neighbors) but we couldn’t connect to that either.
Despite the strong review above, I’m not a very picky person. I can tolerate things that are not even close to ideal. However, I have never been as dissatisfied with a place I have ever stayed.
Quaint 3 bedroom, 2 bath cottage w/ lake view
We liked the cottage, Everything we expected w/ a lake view. It could have been cleaner, we had to clean the bathrooms, and there was no TV reception or HDMI port on the TV. The Wi-Fi did not work until it was reset.... by us
Thank you for the review. All comments help us as we strive to improve the experience of our guests.
Prior to your arrival, we had a renter there for 2 months, during which time the water softener broke down and we were not made aware. Just be for your arrival we replaced the softener but it has taken some time to get the hard water stains off the shower. We have worked hard to get the last residue off.
We also replaced the TV during your stay and Wi-Fi in the area can be temperamental but power cycling your device usually fixes the problem.
We are continuing to make improvements and upgrades to property for the comfort and enjoyment of all our guests.
