About Kari Barker
My name is Kari, as a girl I spent my summers here with my grandparents, enjoying the beauty of Northern Michigan while I worked with my grandpa around the homestead. Almost 30 years ago my grandparents were unable to keep the property due to health reasons and sold it to another family member, although I was glad it was still in the family I had always thought of it as mine. Then in 2006 my dream came true and I came home again! During the last year I have completely renovated the cottage and am excited about sharing the love I have for this place with others.
Kari Barker purchased this Cottage in 2006
Why Kari Barker chose Frankfort
My grandparents purchased this property in 1975, at that time is was in rough shape, yet they had a vision of what could be and turned their homestead into a Benzie County landmark. Before the new boat launch went in and the road was reconfigured, all anyone would have to say is 'the V property' and it was immediately recognized.
What makes this Cottage unique
The cottage is newly remodeled and is cozy, comfortable, quiet and beautiful. Although it is located just of of M-115 it is very quiet and almost remote feeling, except that you are centrally located in Benzie county and close to so many activities(boat launch, beaches, trails, fishing, skiing, and snowmobiling). As I furnished the cottage I put a lot of thought into what families or friends would want and need in a vacation home, and I wanted it to truly be a home away from home. With that in mind, all linens and towels are provided, there is a full kitchen with all dishware, pots and pans and utensils available. Paper products such as toilet paper, paper towels, napkins and food storage have been provided as well as charcoal for the grill. Pets are welcome! I believe this would be a comfortable place to stay for couples, families, skiers, fisherman and those who love the fall colors...all are welcome.

Even Better than Expected!
Wow, Kari and Ed truly have an amazing little cottage. We needed something for two people and two dogs, and we are so glad that we found this cottage. It is more spacious than it looks in photos, is incredibly home-y, and very comfortable.
We came in late Friday night to fresh flowers and muffins on the table (yum!), and even a bag of dog treats! The next morning, we got to explore the yard, and saw a beautiful bench swing, a nice firepit, and a table and four chairs for outdoor eating. If it weren't so cold (and we weren't so tired!) we definitely would have used it.
We needed to come to Frankfort for a family reunion, and it took us roughly 6 minutes to hit Frankfort, and 10 to the beach. It is the perfect location, easy to get to, and perfect.
Id6totally recommend staying here, you won't be disappointed!
Cozy. Clean.Comfortable. Cupcakes
Will definitely rent this cottage again. Excellent hospitality. So clean and comfortable. Weather didn't cooperate and the power had gone out for a couple of hours one evening in the whole area but there were board games, gas heat and a lantern to get us through. Made the weekend even more memorable. And there were the biggest cupcakes we'd ever seen waiting for us upon our arrival!!! Kari and Ed were Class A hosts.
Cozy home away from home
We loved our stay at Kari and Ed’s little cottage. The cottage was clean and filled with many personal touches that make it a lovely place for a getaway, with a host that has made a great effort to make you feel welcomed, relaxed and taken care of. The bonfire pit was wonderful for a night to enjoy star-gazing. We would surely stay here again.
Cabin was clean with all the necessary items for the week stay.
Really enjoyed our stay in the Beulah/Benzonia/Frankfort area. Guys were fishing and this was in a great location for all of our endeavors. Will stay there again if we plan another long vacation!
Thank you so much for everything! Our stay was very pleasant and it was a pleasure meeting you. We will most definitely try and come back again. 😁
Cozy and Very Welcoming
The owners made it very clear how much they want people to enjoy their stay by there every action/word. Great experience!
Fifty yards from the new Crystal Lake boat launch, near the Platte and Betsie Rivers, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, Frankfort/Elberta and Lake Michigan, Empire, Interlochen, Manistee and Traverse City. Surrounded by biking/hiking trails that provide access to the surrounding towns. Northern Michigan's famous Cherry Bowl Drive-in is within 6 miles and a terrific family experience!
