About the property

A 2 bedroom & 2 bathroom condo on the mountain top in the middle of Asheville

On the ridgetop of Beaucatcher Mountain, overlooking and just moments away from Asheville's unique downtown are the Windswept Views condominiums. Our condo is sumptuously furnished setting for 1 to 4 persons and ready to move-in for 6 months or a years stay in Asheville style and comfort. Artistic and uniquely decorated, the condo has all the modern appliances, a fully furnished kitchen to create masterful cuisine or a simple meal with lavish furnishings which to relax and enjoy your stay.

This pet-friendly stay is perfect for long walks along the ridge top while soaking in the surrounding mountains vistas. It truly is mountain views at their best along the quiet road and Asheville spreading out on both sides of the mountain. Come sit outside your room on the second-floor deck and enjoy the breeze and on a clear day with Mount Pisgah in the distance.

Inside, each room's decor is an excursion into another time and place.

Did I also say we were close to downtown, or almost anywhere else in Asheville? It's true.

Beaucatcher mountain where the condo is built is in the middle of Asheville.

Why Alan van de Kamp Grau chose Asheville

Asheville is a gem. If you lived here, like most people you would want to live with a view of the surrounding mountains and the cool and quiet of the elevations. Windswept View condos were the last to be built on the ridge top of Beaucatcher Mountain which sits in the middle of the town of Asheville.

Up here we have spectacular views of both sides of the city and the surrounding scenery made even nicer from this second floor location.

What makes this condo unique

This property has two unique experiences: quite mountain tranquility and immediate access to vibrant downtown Asheville. For those who want to rest and feel like they are in the mountains but don't want to far from the fun of live music, restaurants, trendy bars and great shopping, this is the perfect spot.

A Wonderful Get-Away!

  • 5 of 5

This condo is lovely – a beautiful, private location yet very close to town, very welcoming, comfortable, well-furnished and includes all amenities. The beds are amazingly comfortable. We very much enjoyed our stay. Alan is a wonderful host –he is friendly, attentive and very responsive to any needs that might arise. We would highly recommend this condo and plan on returning very soon.

Owner's Response: Thank You! A delightful person as yourself would offer such a delightful review and you were so appreciated as a guest. Asheville deserves the credit as it is a lovely place to be anytime. It is the reason why we came and stayed. Of course, I would want you to have all the amenities you would have at home to enhance your stay, and present it in a unique package. It was a pleasure to host you and I am looking forward to your return!

A Delightful Home Base

  • 4 of 5

This condo served us well as home base for a ladies' getaway weekend. The location in Asheville was ideal, close to shopping and restaurants but in a quiet (well, except for the sirens--what's with all the sirens?) hilltop setting with spectacular views. Alan was a gracious host, meeting us after arrival to show us the place, answer any questions, and assure us he was just a phone call away if we had any problems. The decor and appointments were funky and functional. It was all just what we needed! Our first VRBO experience was a success.

We didn't realize until our last day that minor league baseball is just at the bottom of the hill! Next time, we'll be sure to catch a game.

Owner's Response: Thank You, and it was equally a pleasure to serve the four of you. We do look forward to your return visit and have a discount for every guest that does. Please feel free to contact me anytime, and I will also send you the Asheville Tourist Baseball teams schedule. You will LOVE the fireworks at the end of the game which is usually visible from the condo even if you don't go to the game! All My Best.

Owner's Response: Thank You! It is a precious spot and I too loved living there. One of the benefits for me is getting to meet exceptional travelers that can see the opportunity of being there while visiting Asheville. It was my experience and I enjoy continuing to work on the condo to refine and maintain it. I am looking forward to your next Yoga Retreat! My Best.

BentleysMom

We had a fabulous stay in October. The owner met us on our arrival and welcomed us warmly into the condo. He was very helpful and answered all our questions before leaving us to enjoy our stay. The condo was clean and extremely well-equipped with everything you could possibly need for a pleasant stay. Superb location in the middle of Asheville, literally just minutes to everything in the city, yet very private and quiet. The sunsets were absolutely gorgeous and we so enjoyed the west-facing deck looking out at the mountains. I look forward to staying again and would highly recommend this condo to anyone visiting the beautiful city of Asheville.

Owner's Response: It is always a treat to meet all the two and four legged guests that come to stay at the condo! Each person is away from their usual daily stress which gives us the opportunity to help in creating an environment that will add to their enjoyment potential. This doesn't happen everyday which is what makes it so special to serve. Asheville is a "foodies" town with sooo many choices of excellent food and drink venues, but from my experience I want to eat a "home cooked" meal even when traveling. Because of that, we have provided a modern kitchen with all the needs and more to make sure that you can do just that and not be missing something for preparation. But in case you are not in the mood, we always have the “condo binder” with all our favorite eatery’s and drinking holes and some maps to make it easier to get there. Thank You for staying with us, and we do look forward to seeing you again with a discount for our return guests! All My Best!

Highly Recommended

  • 5 of 5

This condo was everything we expected and more. A great place to stay on your next visit to Asheville. Location was perfect for exploring downtown Asheville and surrounding areas. The view from the balcony was awesome. The furnishings were great, and yes the red leather sofa was mighty fine. The weird guy/ owner (joking because of first review) was a great guy and very helpful with any concerns. It was a pleasure meeting Alan and staying in this great condo. This would be my first choice for any return trip to the area.

Owner flaky, but cool condo

  • 3 of 5

4 conversations and messages that never really materialized into much info, got the dates wrong, forgot to send details on location & how to access, we called and emailed all day on day of rental and finally got a response at 7:PM.

Once we got in, the place is cool, clean, unique. Good amenities, and comfortable place. Maybe the owner will get a better grasp of this VRBO concept and get the 4 or 5 stars the place deserves.

Owner's Response: Greetings with My Thanks and Apologies, Not typical, but I dropped the ball. I should have but didn't send you the information directly by personal email. No an excuses. We have a written automatic response that is send out from the VRBO website which I customize for each guest. The VRBO website was off line for upgrade when I logged in and your auto-response with information fell off my radar. We were out of town all week working on a very complex event and I didn't remember. Many Thanks for taking the time to help me get better at these new web systems… and Especially for the 4 or 5 star rating that you gave the condo!!!

Map

Asheville has been a tourist destination since the railroad came in 1864.George Vanderbuilt built the largest home in the western hemisphere here. It is always listed as one of the best places to live in the US. Known for it's arts, food, rafting/kayaking, fishing, climbing, birthplace of mountain biking and shopping in a vibrant downtown almost devoid of chain stores. It's most unusual here!
