About Dean & Sylvia Molta

We are a couple from Western Mass and have owned on the island for the last 7 years. We first fell in love with the island on our many family vacations previous to our purchasing a home in Vineyard Haven back in 2010.

Dean & Sylvia Molta purchased this cottage in 2016

Why Dean & Sylvia Molta chose Edgartown

After getting to know the island pretty well, we absolutely love Edgartown and when the opportunity to move here came along, we jumped at the chance.

Being able to renovate this beautiful home and be so close to all the amenities we love is very special to us.

What makes this cottage unique

We feel the area we are in is so peaceful and quiet, as well as being so close to the best parts of Edgartown, South Beach, downtown, Morning Glory Farm and the bike path. We get the best of both worlds.

Charming and comfortable with a good location. Clean with comfortable beds.

  • 4 of 5

Our pre-arrival communication was great, and Sylvia made a special call in advance to make sure we were set. Its a half-mile down a dirt road (no big deal), and about 10 minutes from Long Point Beach. We had a couple of suggestions which were appreciated. Thinking about returning next year.

Great house, super location!

We absolutely loved the house and location, close to the town center, and the beach. The house was designed perfectly for families, and the owners have great taste.

Incredibly nice and clean cottage in a quiet area of Edgartown! A very quick drive (or nice bike ride) to town. Cottage has everything you’d need and a great deck! We will be renting again!!

Cozy Cottage !

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a getaway with another couple. It was perfect because the upstairs has one bedroom and full bath and the downstairs has another bedroom and full bath so there was plenty of privacy. The kitchen was adorable decorated and well equipped. We used the grill outside a couple nights and explored different restaurants around the island. Used the bike path off the street to ride into Edgartown some mornings for breakfast. Great, quiet ,secluded location with very short drive to the beach and into town. Dean was also quick to respond with every question we had! Would love to come back!

Perfect beach cottage!

  • 5 of 5

This was the most perfect beach cottage. Great bike ride to South Beach and the cottage had absolutely everything we needed and is so greatly decorated. Nice walk or bike ride to Morning Glory Farm which is wonderful! It was a true treat to stay here! Can’t say enough great things.

quiet, close to town—what else do you need?

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here with my wife and three-year-old daughter. We were initially hesitant because of the no-refund policy. But I understand that any owner would want guaranteed compensation for a desirable property during the summer. So we went for it and were glad we did. Owners Dean and Syl Molta were kind and sensible and easy to work with (e.g., returned security deposit promptly). I had a nice chat with them about a week before our stay, to see if we had questions, etc. The owners seemed eager to please and genuinely cared about whether we had what we needed to make our stay comfortable. There are some lists of rules and policies, etc., which seem forbidding, but these folks have a nice place and want to keep it nice. I can understand that. If you're reasonable and responsible, you shouldn't have trouble. We opted for this place because it is bright and clean and contemporary, as the pictures show, not dank and musty. It also has about everything you need and the owners gracefully received what few minor suggestions we had. There's a lot to like about this property. It has a nice outdoor shower with a big, clean wood stall. The porch is wonderful, though not secluded: see picture. But the house is situated in a broad clearing in the woods down a dirt road—so not much traffic besides landscaping trucks and people walking dogs. Privacy was not an issue for us. Location is peaceful. The kitchen is smallish but modern and well equipped. House layout: the second floor hall looks down on the kitchen, dining, and sitting area. There's one bedroom and bath up and one downstairs. There's also an additional sitting area upstairs. Both sitting areas are somewhat small but suited us fine. The greatest attribute of this house is location. It's close to Edgartown (esp. grocery, liquor store, playground/playing fields) but far enough so that it's quiet, especially at night. We rented bikes from Edgartown Bikes (they deliver and pick up) and got a lot of use out of them, staying here. Trying to be objectively descriptive in order to help other renters, but for us this place was perfect. Would definitely rent again. Liked the people, liked the place. First time back on MV in twenty years and this was a great reintroduction.
