NOTE; THERE IS A NEW DOCK JUST INSTALLED. CAN SWIM OFF OF IT, SWIM LADDER, OR SIT AND ENJOY THE RIVER. SORRY NO PHOTO YET. This property is located on the Annapolis River, at it's widest point, therefore the name Lake View as it appears to be a huge lake. (Annapolis Royal is ten minutes away.). This is a beautiful country setting. total peace and quiet.
There are seals, birds, fish, an ocasional whale. You can swim off the property. You can rent kayaks and canoes locally.
The grounds are lovely, tree shaded with numerous roses and wildflowers. Eagles on the river. Birdsong is wonderful. At night you can often hear owls hooting.
The bullfrogs at the pond are great fun to watch and listen to. There is a lobster buoy swing on a tree at the water and a garden swing at ground level under the deck. There is a firepit but must check on whether fires are banned for that day.
Lovely quiet space to wander. Dog friendly. No smoking.
This is a one bedroom cottage that has a queen bed and sitting area. Brand new kitchen appliances. Dining room table seats six. Always something interesting happening on the river.
We purchased this property because of it's natural beauty. It has total privacy but is only about ten minutes from the lovely historically preserved town of Annapolis Royal. So you have the best of both country and town.
We have remodeled the two story barn buiding into a lovely brand new one bedroom property with decks and fantastic views to the water. You need to climb one set of steps so not handicap accessible.
Ruth McCarty or Gladys Johnson purchased this cottage in 2007
We fell in love with the river flowing by, the constant breeze, the birds and seals, the wild roses, the peace, tranquility, and the wonderful little frog pond.
You take a dirt road thru wild roses and trees and marsh to the property which is located on the Annapolis River at it's widest point. It is therefore called a lake and the address is Lake View Avenue.
You have easy access to Annapolis Royal, Bear River, Digby,Wolfville, Grand Pre, Kedjimikujik National Park, the French Shore, Whale Watching on Digby Neck and many other things too numerous to mention. This is the perfect hideaway but close to everything. The moon over the river at night is magic.
We enjoyed the location of the place. The apt was clean and comfortable. The owners were quick to respond to any question we had.
I was visiting from British Columbia. My son lives in Halifax. We had a wonderful weekend getaway. My only complaint was that it wasn't longer! We will return!
We loved how private it was. It was great for my son's dog.
We spent a fair bit of time swimming in the River. We also biked into Annapolis Royal-a lovely spot!
The cabin was perfect-everything we needed. We went to Parkers Cove for seafood and enjoyed dinners at the cabin. It was well equipped and very clean!
Everything was as stated on the website. Ruth was very helpful when I called her about a couple of things.
We will return!
I would recommend this retreat to any of my friends.
Thanks for sharing it.
We enjoyed a wonderful weekend here. The cottage was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The location on the river is beautiful and serene. The location is not far from amenities in Annapolis Royal, while still offering the quiet getaway we were looking for. Morning coffee on the deck was perfect. The fall foliage in the area was stunning, and we had a wonderful hike at Delap's Cove. Ruth provided wonderful customer service, answering all my questions in a timely and friendly manner. It is very obvious they aim to please. We will certainly recommend this property, and are planning to come again next summer.
Gorgeous property. We have a lovely stay. Our dogs were able to run free with no fear of cars. Swimming in the river was fantastic, numerous things to do and eat nearby. Highly recommend it .
This is a nice quiet apartment a few minutes drive from the quaint and lovely little town of Annapolis Royal. The garden stretches down to the river, and is private. There is minor road noise from the main road, but otherwise it is a place to enjoy peace and quiet.
There is a lot of information about visitor attractions nearby for you to browse through, which was very helpful.
We rented this cottage in Aug 2015 and I am already thinking about going back there to stay!! We wanted a get away from our work and the city with our two dogs and this cottage was more than we ever asked for! We enjoyed swimming/floating in the river, the waves were never bad and the water was warm. I tied my river tube right on the dock and just floated with sun in my face and beer in my hand. Ruth was amazing at getting whatever we needed! We requested a BBQ because we cook a lot and when we checked in the cottage we found a brand new little BBQ with a bag of charcoal, a pack of lighters and even lighter fluids! The kitchen is stocked with everything you would need, we felt like we never left home! There was even tin foils and plastic wraps! The place is super clean and cosy. I was surprised to see they even offered all kinds of books and magazines for you to read! There was no TV or Internet, and we are NOT complaining! We had the whole place all to ourselves and I don't think I can ever stay in another cottage where I can see other people! We were absolutely spoiled!
Both Ruth and Gladys were very friendly, helpful and easy to get a hold of. It was a quiet, romantic stay for both of us and the dogs absolutely loved the free run, smells of nature and endless swimming in the river. We even had camp fire on couple of nights after checking with Environment Canada for the fire rating and got a go ahead. The cottage provided a nice metal fire pit, we bought fire wood from a campground down the road (about 5 min drive) and the quality was superb!
Annapolis Royal town is a very short drive away, have some nice little restaurants and shops. Highly recommend the graveyard Tour! We also visited Digby and had amazing scallops there as well as soft serve ice creams! There is also an adventure park close by with fun rides and ziplines.
We recommend this cottage to everyone who wants to get away from the city/visiting the great bay of fundy area! Cannot wait for our next stay! Thank you for everything!
Annapolis Royal is the second oldest permanent settlement in North America, settled in 1605. St. Augustine, Florida, is first (Spanish). The English built Fort Anne and the French built Port Royal, both National HIstoric Sites that can be visited. It's fun to roll down the ramparts at Fort Anne. Nearby is an old graveyard and the Graveyard Tour by Lantern is fun and educational as well. One of Champlain's men is buried here. At the time the French owned all the way to Philadelphia. Strolling thru town you will see beautiful preserved Victorian homes and inns. Wonderful restaurants in all price ranges are all within the walking area. The boardwalk along the river from Fort Anne to the lighthouse and King's Theater is a wonderful spot to meander. The Farmers Market is on Saturdays and Wednesdays, featuring not only locally grown produce but also many fine craftsmen, potters, artists, weavers, jewelry makers. Across from the market is the working boat haulout. Further along is O'Dell House a historic house of the l800's. Across Parker Mountain are the various working lobster wharfs. Here you can buy fresh lobsters, scallops, fish, dulse. or purchase cooked lobsters to take on a picnic. I own a Victorian home overlooking the wharf where you can picnic. Digby is nearby with it's famous scallop fleet. Bear River, featured in New York Times, is built on stilts and has a fantastic nationally known gallery with huge collection of artists. Retaurants here also are built on stilts due to the tidal surges in the river. Further south is the French shore and you are welcomed to try their famous Rappie Pie, which takes 24 hours to make. The Dewlaps Wilderness Trail and the Historic Gardens are both nationally famous and worth a visit.
Upper Clements Park is an old time amusement park, wooden roller coaster, lots of grass and water, rides for all ages, music every day. This year they've added an adventure park with zip line designed by a French expert. Swimming and canoeing and kayaking are available at all the many lakes. Better yet, just relax at home and enjoy the gardens and river.

So far everyone has been quite happy without it. We look forward to your stay and will do all we can to make your vacation totally enjoyable and stress free..thank you.
