We are a family that loves to be get together with friends and realized that having a place large enough to accommodate us would be a dream come true. After building these homes we wanted to share there beauty and allow others to come and enjoy their time with family and friends.
Ruth Smith purchased this house in 2007
D'Hart Ranch is very secluded. We are bordered by several ranches that are either untouched or used for cattle to graze. Our place allows you to bring all your friends and family and just relax. We don't count the number of cars you bring, so if you have several people coming from different areas, you do not need to shuttle them in. We have plenty of parking!
When you walk into the D'Hart Ranch homes you feel that 'awww' feeling - that, everything is right in the world feeling. You can truly relax and be at peace. When you step out on the back porch and see the view of the lake and the cows mooing in the background - you know life is good.
Don't forget - you can bring your dogs and know that they will have fun too!
We gathered for a family and friend vacation and had an amazing time! The pictures do not do this place justice!! The place is easy to relax in. They have good beds, comfortable couches, and nice outdoor seating. The kitchen had all we needed for the big meals we cooked together!
I think we enjoyed the fire pit the most!! (Don't forget to bring wood.) A couple brought guitars so we could stargaze while listening to great music. We also went over to Lake Nacimiento and rented a pontoon boat for the day and had so much fun. The kids loved jumping off it!
This place has plenty of outdoor activities to keep you busy if that's what you want.
We hope to make this place a yearly tradition!
We rented the house for a family reunion and truly enjoyed the space. Our large group never felt cramped in the well layed out home and we loved hanging out on the spacious patio. I would definitely stay here again.
We had the good fortune of staying at D'Hart ranch earlier this Septmeber (2015). From the beginning Ruth the owner graciously answered any/all questions and helped us with relevant information.
The ranch itself is a 2.5 hour drive from San Jose (160 miles south) and abuts lake nacimiento and lake san antonio. We were six families in all. The ranch is on a large secluded property in the mountains yet easily accessible from Hwy 101. The main house has 4 bedrooms and enough bathrooms. The guest house a few yards away on the property has the other 3 bed rooms for a total of 7 bedrooms.
The property, the house and the rooms were all spacious. The design was well thought out. The amenities clearly to delight the guest. Bedrooms were equipped with not just plush beds but also bunk beds (clearly they had thought of everything).
Another fantastic piece to the property is the back porch. Equipped with lawn furnishings including swings, recline chairs, a fire pit a telescope, ping pong tables (you name it), this 2000 sqft piece (yes the back porch is finished and 2000 sq ft in size) is simply amazing. grab your favorite drink, lie down on the reclining chairs, get the fire going, and become a star gazer. On 2 nights with nary a city light to disturb our calm, the 'milky way' soared across the sky and the universe revealed here splendorous persona to us. To say it was heavenly would be an understatement.
The kitchen is very well stocked and you find whatever you need. The area is well connected. we spent time by lake nacimiento. But honestly the house is so fantastic you could spend days just relaxing and getting away from it all.
All in all, an A+++ property, fantastic views, quiet country charm, mountains and vista to yourself, and a great host. Highly recommend this to anyone thinking about having a great time with family and/or friends.
Awesome weekend with some college friends. This place is incredible. We arrived at night and when we woke up the first morning, we thought we were looking at a painting when we looked out the window. The speaker system - indoor/outdoor - is on point. The house is beautiful. Wished I used the fireplace but the fire pit was going on the porch all night. Plenty of wood. Don't forget to chop before the sun goes down! The weather was perfect. A lot of fun to be had on the turf, ping pong table, driveway hoop and horseshoe court. Sit in the sun under the misters or in the jacuzzi in the shade. I did not take one shower inside because of how sweet the outdoor shower was. Did I mention the views?
D'Hart Ranch is an awesome venue to gather with family. The houses were perfect for our group of 20+ whose ages ran from 62 to an infant, including someone in a wheelchair. There was enough space to have quiet time even while the young adults and children were playing. The platform and area to hold events was perfect for renewing our wedding vows. The views were spectacular! The houses were stocked with everything we needed. Ruth and Mark provided a wealth of information. They were accommodating and gracious. The fire pit was heaven for people from Hawaii! It was a very memorable trip for all. Thank you Ruth and Mark for creating such a haven to reunite families that live hundreds of miles apart!
Great estate for a large group. Well maintained homes with stocked kitchen and other activities for the kinds and adults to have fun during the trip. Outdoor shower was a nice experience.
Ruth was great in her correspondence and even took time to ship back an item which one of our group member left behind.
Great experience overall.
During the day you can set your boat out on Nacimiento Lake for wake boarding, water skiing, tubing, fishing or just relaxing.
There are also over 200 wineries in the area for a fun filled day and less then an hour away is the Pacific Ocean and Hearst Castle.
Downtown Paso Robles, just 25 minutes away has a quaint downtown with wonderful restaurants and great shopping. They also have music in the park and host the Mid State Fair in July.
