About Linda Hurd

This picture is of my daughter and myself. I grew up in Orinda in the Bay Area and haven't left. I know a good thing when I see it!!

Linda Hurd purchased this house in 1999

Why Linda Hurd chose Arnold

When I was looking for a mountain home, I chose Arnold because of the quaint beautiful area with the friendliest people on earth. The drive to Arnold is fun and non-stressful (unlike Highway 80 to Tahoe) and the area hosts a variety of things to enjoy throughout the year from local concerts in town, to concerts at the winery, to music festivals at Bear Valley, Kajaking in the lake, parades, frog jumps, skiing at Bear Valley, white water rafting trips, golfing and more too numerous to name!

What makes this house unique

The area is so peaceful, one can come from the busy Bay Area and immediately relax. I love the Arnold area. It's a short drive but you feel as if you are in a different world!! While you are in a small mountain town with very tall trees, you still have the convenience of nice restaurants, wineries, and a terrific super market to buy your food. There are numerous areas where you can hike, go to the lake, ski or just hang out and do nothing. There is wireless internet in the home, air conditioning and heating plus the huge dog run which connects to the upper deck is terrific and safe for your pooches to run freely.

I have rented many of cabins over the years. This was the best one I have ever rented. Very accommodating, heart warming and beautiful. We are already planning our next trip. I highly recommend this cabin to anyone who wants to have a beautiful, relaxing time.

Perfect for Girls Weekend

  • 4 of 5

This place has it all. It was clean, plenty of space & updated. We ran out off time to use the amenities. But that’s a reason to come back.

Great for large group

  • 5 of 5

We loved this house, the bedroom arrangements and the close proximity to so many

great places to hike and sightsee. Ideal for anyone traveling with small children, with the

new pack n play and new high chair. We used the laundry room as the nursery, so that

the 6 month old would not be woke up by the rest of us. If you are not an expert at backing up, try and park on the street, instead of the steep driveway. The large deck and swing chairs were a hit with our group too.

A wonderful place to gather!

  • 5 of 5

I recently stayed in Linda's cozy and clean home with my family. There were 7 adults and 2 children and we fit there perfectly. The hot tub was awesome - we had a perfect view of the stars at night. The downstairs den and pool table allowed some of us to hang out while others used the living room and kitchen upstairs. The beds were very comfortable and there were plenty of towels and blankets for our needs. Everything in the house worked perfectly and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Be aware that the driveway is very steep and it was hard to fit all 3 of our cars there, so two of us chose to park on the street (which is not allowed in the winter). You can fit 3 cars in a row, but it was so steep, we didn't feel comfortable putting them there. Still, though, this was a great place to stay and we hope to return again soon! Thank you, Linda!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your nice review. I am glad everything worked out for your family. The driveway sometimes takes a little practice but after you do it once or twice, it's not too difficult. The view from the top deck is worth having the home on a hill!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. I am happy to hear you loved my house and had a great time. I apologize for the fact that VRBO did not immediately refund your deposit. My account is set up for automatic refund for all my guests, but VRBO's system failed to return yours. I never ever see the security deposits because VRBO keeps them. I'm happy I could get the refund expedited once it was brought to my attention. Come back again!

This house was amazing to stay at. My friends and I have a great time. We are already talking about renting it out again next year. Linda was also great too, she was very easy to get ahold of and had great instructions for her house. Can't wait for the next time we can stay at her place!

Zip lining for the brave is provided at the caverns between Murphys and Sonora and there are local activities scheduled throughout the year, i.e: St. Patty's Day parade in Murphys, Frog Jump in Angels Camp, Fourth of July Parade, Bear Valley Music Festival in August and concerts at Ironstone Wineries throughout the summer. There are also numerous hiking trails available Columbia is a great old gold mining town between Arnold and Sonora and spending the day watching the fascination on your children's faces while they gold pan is really fun. If it's just the adults, the old 1800's saloon is a real trip.
