About Linda Hurd
This picture is of my daughter and myself. I grew up in Orinda in the Bay Area and haven't left. I know a good thing when I see it!!
Linda Hurd purchased this House in 1999
Why Linda Hurd chose Arnold
When I was looking for a mountain home, I chose Arnold because of the quaint beautiful area with the friendliest people on earth. The drive to Arnold is fun and non-stressful (unlike Highway 80 to Tahoe) and the area hosts a variety of things to enjoy throughout the year from local concerts in town, to concerts at the winery, to music festivals at Bear Valley, Kajaking in the lake, parades, frog jumps, skiing at Bear Valley, white water rafting trips, golfing and more too numerous to name!
What makes this House unique
The area is so peaceful, one can come from the busy Bay Area and immediately relax. I love the Arnold area. It's a short drive but you feel as if you are in a different world!! While you are in a small mountain town with very tall trees, you still have the convenience of nice restaurants, wineries, and a terrific super market to buy your food. There are numerous areas where you can hike, go to the lake, ski or just hang out and do nothing. There is wireless internet in the home, air conditioning and heating plus the huge dog run which connects to the upper deck is terrific and safe for your pooches to run freely.

Gorgeous home, great for our fur babies
Linda’s home is absolutely gorgeous. We had a wonderful relaxing time. The deck is wonderful hanging swings, down stairs a great game room with a pool table. The hot tub was a great plus after a day of shopping and wine tasting. Our fur babies loved the huge dog run. Thank you Linda, beautiful home❤️
Beautiful furnished. Owner thought of everything you could need. Hot tub and very comfortable beds
Beautiful house. Good location. TV in every room. Nice downstairs with pool table. Comfort beds with high end bedding. Stocked well. Owner really put a lot of effort in making stay excellent. Hot tub definitely a plus as well. Stayed at many properties in that area. This one was by far the best.
Lovely, well-equipped cabin with everything you could want or need including hot tub and pool table. Lots of deck space for enjoying the outdoors. Good location with lots of attractions nearby as well as grocery store and restaurants. Good for multi-generations. Living room upstairs and family room/game room downstairs, both with TVs provided two places to “hang out.” (Plus two more TVs in the upstairs bedrooms.) Digital door lock made getting in a breeze without worrying about where to pick up a key.
Comfortable, well equipped house
Our group (5 adults, 2 kids + 2 dogs) really enjoyed our stay. The house is comfortable, pretty spacious, and extremely well equipped. Seriously, I've never stayed in a rental with endless supplies of toilet paper, bar soap, ziploc bags, etc as well as easy-to-find basic tools like screwdrivers, pliers, and duct tape. My kids were excited for the jungle gym in the yard, and we enjoyed the hot tub as well. The location is great, as it's close to the main grocery store in Arnold, and we found a great spot 10 mins away to hike part of the Arnold Rim Trail. I would rent this house again. Thanks Linda!
Thanks so much for your review. As always I am so happy your family enjoyed the house and loved the area. As far as the toilet paper and supplies are concerned, nothing irritates me more than finding one roll of toilet paper when I rent a house. I try to stock up for months so no one will go without. Glad you appreciated it. Come back when you can. I enjoyed having you as my guest.
Wonderful home for retreat from the city!
We really loved the home! Thanks Linda! We had a terrific time during our recent 4 day getaway from San Francisco. Linda was very proactive by contacting us to let us know that there was snow in the forecast the weekend we arrived. We prepared ourselves with winter clothes, and lo and behold, it snowed for the first two days. We haven’t seen snow all season, so really happy we had the chance too. The home itself was big and spacious. Only our family made it to the mountains this time, but it could certainly hold up to three families comfortably. The dog area on the side of the home was great too for coco, our cocker, who was happy to explore in the snow! For me, I’m a huge pool player, and discovering there was a pool table in the home when we arrived, was a serendipitous moment! The hot tub too was great to use on the warmer days. The home is close to the big trees supermarket and other restaurants. Also, it is easy to get to hwy 4 from the home, and whether heading for the slopes or wineries, the home is convenient to all activities. We’ll certainly look to stay here again on our next visit to Arnold!
Thank you Mark for having a great time at my home. I try very hard to make it "your home away from home". It will be my pleasure to have you return in the future.
Absolutely Beautiful and Cozy Cabin
My family and I just enjoyed an amazing 5 days in this little piece of heaven. From the luxurious sheets and deliciously comfortable beds to the comfy couches and gorgeous views from the deck, it is very clear that Linda puts great effort into making this a home away from home. Linda was absolutely fabulous- she was extremely responsive in answering questions and she really seems to care that her guests have an enjoyable experience in her home. We’ve stayed in many cabins in Arnold over the years and this is by far our favorite. We can’t wait to come back! Thank you Linda for your graciousness and hospitality; we were honored to be your guests in your lovely home! ❤️
Big Trees State Park, Columbia, Bear Valley Ski Resort, Murphys and Sonora are near by. White Pine Lake is in Arnold which has a small beach and Malones Lake and Lake Alpine are great for fishing. Zip lining for the brave is provided at the caverns between Murphys and Sonora and there are local activities scheduled throughout the year, i.e: St. Patty's Day parade in Murphys, Frog Jump in Angels Camp, Fourth of July Parade, Bear Valley Music Festival in August and concerts at Ironstone Wineries throughout the summer. There are also numerous hiking trails available Columbia is a great old gold mining town between Arnold and Sonora and spending the day watching the fascination on your children's faces while they gold pan is really fun. If it's just the adults, the old 1800's saloon is a real trip.
