About Robin Masion

Hello I am Robin (or Chelle, if you prefer). I am a US Southern girl living in France at present with my husband and two dogs. I was born in Florida then spent the majority of my life in good old South Carolina. Chance brought my husband to the US and the rest was fate. Now I am an old pro at living overseas (16 years) but my true home will always be the US. We are hoping to retire to Summerville one day but that is still many years off.

I work at home but love being outdoors. I spend all my spare time at my dog club teaching agility and competing in agility and obedience with my Aussies. We also dabble in Treibball, Dog Dancing, Frisbee and Cavage (that's truffle hunting). Well, enough about me.

Robin Masion purchased this house in 2009

Why Robin Masion chose Charleston Area

My father left me this lovely home a few years back and I could not part with it seeing as how it mean so much to him. Since I am unable to use the home I have decided to make it available for guests visiting our wonderful Summerville and Charleston area. I hope you will enjoy my home.

What makes this house unique

My love for this house is not only due to the memories that it brings me of my father but also due to its quaint style. It has a lovely garden full of birds and squirrels. I have been told there is even a bunny around sometimes. Also the cute little picket fences and trellis simply made me adore this house. It truly stands out among the others in the neighborhood. Inside it is bright and spacious. I have tried to decorate it with taste and comfort. All this makes me love this house. Believe me when I tell you I would love to live here full time but I cannot so I will let you enjoy it for me.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My husband and I traveled to SC with our 4 children to visit our in-laws and found this house to be absolutely PERFECT in every way. The office had a futon in it, so it functioned as a 3rd bedroom for us, and the house easily fit all six of us with room to spare. The home is impeccably clean, beautifully decorated, and is quite spacious with an open floor plan and high ceilings. A cute porch sits off the dining room, and every morning my older boys (age 8 and 10) would go outside and sit and hold the lizards (anoles) they had caught. The master bedroom has an enormous walk-in closet and a whirl-pool tub in the master bath. The home comes equipped with a washer and dryer, which is very convenient, especially for someone like me traveling with a bunch of kids! The back yard is well-groomed and fenced in and provided a beautiful place to sit and a safe place for the kids to play. My family absolutely loved this house we found both the owner and caretaker to be extremely pleasant people and easy to work with. We feel blessed to have found this home for our trip and hope to return to it the next time we head south. I would recommend this house to anyone visiting the area!

Nice place, but had some issues.

  • 3 of 5

We had a good and bad experience with this rental. The process of the booking and communication with Robin was very smooth. Actually so smooth I was worried if it was too good to be true. The house itself is very nice, spacious and fully furnished. It was clean to the eye, but when you look closer it was dusty and a little dirty. Our issue came about after the stay. We had opted for the clean yourself instead of acquiring the cleaning fee. They left detailed information on the cleaning requirements which we followed. We had several adults that took over an hour to clean as requested, then after we left we were accused of not cleaning throughly. They sent pictures of a dirty tub, which I couldn't see in pictures. It was a tub that I personally cleaned myself. They stated we left shampoo bottles on counter, but we used and took our own product. The stated We didn't clean toilet and there was mold under toilet lid. We asked how mold could grow in 2 days and maybe that was a sign that it wasn't previously cleaned. Needless to say they kept the cleaning deposit and we had done a lot of work. I was fine with them keeping partial if they felt like it wasn't good enough, but not the whole deposit. The emails back and forth got a little nasty. Since I am an honest, fair, Chrsitian person I would recommend to rent this place to others, but I would not recommend taking the cleaning yourself. I would pay the cleaning fee to avoid the aggravation. We were also accused of breaking the washing machine. I don't know how they would know if it was us or the renters before. So if you do rent, call the caretaker immediately if one thing is out of place or off.

Owner's Response: All my thanks to these guests for having written a review. I always appreciate feedback. It helps me improve our guests experiences at the home. I am sorry that these guests had issues with my cleaning policy but I feel it is my responsibility to keep my cleaning standards high. I think that my review record shows how many people appreciate my home, it's cleanliness and my self-cleaning option. Unfortunately due to the multiple cleaning issues (10) with these guests they lost their cleaning deposit in full since my caretaker had to do a full cleaning after they left the home. Also, you can be assured I have already spoken with my caretaker to be sure to verify, in the future, the home is spotless before my guests arrivals. My caretaker and I pride ourselves on this point! Concerning the washer repair, I did not charge these guests for the repair. I realize these types of things happen and try to be understanding. I do ask my guests to please notify us immediately if they have trouble with the home so we may take care of these matter right away. This way the problem will not be passed on to the next guests. I did wish to clarify, I can assure everyone that all my correspondences with these guests were always very professional and respectful. I will be very happy to discuss this reviewer's comments with any person interested. That way I may clear up any concerns about my policies or the cleanliness of my home.

A home away from home

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I recently returned from a two week vacation spent in Robin's beautiful Summerville home. We could not have been happier with our stay, and highly recommend it to others traveling to the area. The home is conveniently located in a safe, quiet area near enough to Main Street restaurants and shopping. It is immaculately clean, well maintained and beautifully decorated. The home's owner, Robin and her assistant/caretaker Cindy, have gone to great lengths to fully equip and completely sock the rental with most everything necessary to accommodate their guests. In arranging our stay, Robin was a pleasure to work with. Her assistant/caretaker Cindy, lives nearby, and was prepared to help us with anything that might arise. Cindy is friendly, accommodating, and efficient. When our cable box went out unexpectedly, she was easy to reach and resolved the issue with a new, upgraded box within a few short hours. Thank you, Cindy!

We make a trip to the Charleston area each summer to visit our family. We will definitely spend our next visit at Robin's home away from home.

Beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

First of all my experience with Robin, the owner, was excellent. Once arriving at Summerville as soon as you walked in the house you felt like you were home, beautifully furnished, extremely clean and had everything you needed. You can tell Robin loves this house. The town of Summerville is very quaint with a variety of unusual shops. The drive to Charleston was a breeze, only 20 minutes away and the Plantations about 10 minutes. Cindy, the housekeeper is easy to get hold off and very pleasant.

If we are ever in that area again we would stay again.

Better then Better

First of all the web page does not give this home justice. The minute you enter the home you see that it is a well kept, comfort in mind place to stay. Everything that you could possibly need or want is in the home. The only thing that is needed are the food items you will be needing for your stay. The back yard is fenced for your pets safety and enjoyment. The location is also great because all stores are within 5 miles of the home. To get to Charleston SC you just need to get on RT26 west just 3 miles from the home.

It takes 20 miles to get to Charleston. HAVE FUN!!!!!!
