We spent a long weekend and found the house to be everything we wanted: clean, comfortable and easy access to sites in and around Portland. Further, the owner was very accommodating when our plans changed at the last minute. We would definitely stay there on our next trip to Portland and highly recommend it to others.

better than the average

  • 5 of 5

I have never before written a review for much of anything, but in this case it seems deserved, if only because this place is so well equipped. And it's really peaceful and cozy. And the location is great (short walk to bus and/or light rail for a quick ride downtown. Light rail every 15 minutes). The Ladd Addition is a beautiful old neighborhood with quiet narrow streets. Parking was never a problem in front of the house. Yet not far to any of the restaurants, stores, etc, of an urban location, many within walking distance. Definitely an above average vrbo experience.

Very cute house, just hot

  • 3 of 5

It is a very cute house with plenty of parking, comfy bedrooms and living room. Great back patio and kitchen is well equipped. Also in a good area.

The two upstairs bedrooms have window ac units but if it's really hot like it was the 2 days we were in Portland and you want to stay cool this is not your place to stay. The basement room wasn't even cool enough.

I have MS and can not get overheated. I had to stay in the bedroom with ice packs until it cooled off enough to go out back to the patio.

Linda was easy to get a hold of also.

If we go again and it is a cooler time of year I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Owner's Response: Portland has traditionally not been very hot in summer, most homes do not have AC as the really hot days were rare. The global warming trend has given us more hot days in the last couple of years. We lived here for 26 years and only last summer put window ACs at our home and rental. It now seems this change may be permanent so we are looking into central air for our homes. This is the first review with a complaint about heat at the home.

Beautiful, quiet tree lined street welcomed us. Clean, charming home was exactly what we expected.

My family and I could not have been more pleased with this property. It was surrounded by local pubs, eateries, coffee shops and proximity to city center was outstanding. Furnishings, bedding and the cleanliness were all top notch. Quaint backyard seating area will get more use the next time we return.....and we will! Thank you for such a fantastic experience.

Cute little cottage

  • 3 of 5

This cottage is in a quiet neighborhood with very narrow streets. The house is older but with some upgrades. The day we arrived Portland was 100 degrees and the cottage does not have air conditioning, only 2 fans. The 2 main bedrooms and bath were fine, good shower pressure. I would not recommend staying in the basement bedroom as there was a musty smell. Using the bathroom was fine. It is also kind of dingy and dark. We did not stay long enough to get the lay of the land as far as convenience. Overall it was ok. Linda was very nice and helped us get settled.

Owner's Response: We have air-conditioning in both of the bedrooms on the main floor, the lower level is naturally cool. When this guest arrived the weather had made a sudden change to warm and air-conditioners were immediately installed. We have a dehumidifier on at all times in the lower level to keep the air fresh. This is the first review in the entire 3,5 years of renting that mentioned a musty smell. The lower level does not have the same light as above but is clean and nicely decorated and offers a value for families and groups of 6 with the extra beds and bath.

Great location for my visit. Nicely appointed house with a sweet patio to enjoy mornings and evening

  • 4 of 5

Biggest downside was that we were there on a very hot weekend, no air conditioning, not unusual for Portland, but all the windows in the living room and dining room are unopenable due to installed storm windows making these common rooms uncomfortably warm.
