We were treated to the best hospitality by Dragan, our host. Thank you again for the flowers, the lobster dinner, the fishing trips & attention to our comfort. This place is spectacular - we were greeted the very first morning to the sight of a dolphin, just maybe 200ft from the casita. While lazing about on the shaded verandah we saw rays, fish, squid, even a nurse shark when enticed by some fish entrails. It was like sitting on top of a coral aquarium, never a dull moment. We snorkeled and kayaked daily, ate fresh fish caught by my partner and Dragan. We paddled all the way to 'Monkey Island' and silently slid under the mangrove trees in the kayak to within 8 feet of a sloth.
The casita is an easy 20 min paddle to the nearest little restaurant which is a hub of snorkeling activity, so if you need some stimulation & want to chat with local travelers it is an option. We preferred the blissful quiet of our casita & exploring the shoreline by kayak. From our deck my partner would cast out to jumping fish while I read in the hammock or did yoga. Dragan's well behaved sweet dogs were furry company when wanted & added to the feeling of being at home. The bed was comfortable, nights were warm but the ceiling fan made for restful sleeps.
The fishing was a highlight for my partner - he caught snapper, a small shark, jack fish (all of which were delicious), barracuda and needle fish were released back. For me it was the deep relaxation of being so far removed from urban zones... the untouched nature A hummingbird visited our deck a few times, the birds were often calling, a fish would leap, a wave would break. The sun was hot and the environment pristine. This was a treasured pause in our lives and we are grateful to have had the good fortune of staying at Carribean Blue.
The house was beautifu,l exactly like the pictures. My husband and Ispent an amazing week at Carribean Blue. We had a great time snorkeling, kayaking and just watching the water, the stars and the porpoises!!
Dragan was the perfect host. He took on excursions to the Zapatillas and fishing. He also made sure to take us along to town whenever he was going. He made a delicious duck lunch and gave us duck eggs for breakfast.
We were more than happy to chip in for gas. Hopefully we will make it back one day.
The property was beautiful. It was exactly the way it looks in the pictures.
We snorkeled and swam everyday. We used the kayaks to go to the local restaurants and pick up a few supplies.
There were more stars than seemed possible and porpoises swimming a few feet off the porch lit by the full moon.
Dragan was a great host. He took on excursions to the Zapatillas, fishing and brought us come along when he was heading into town. He made sure we were well taken care of. He made an amazing duck lunch and gave us duck eggs for breakfast.
I can't say enough about how lovely the week was.
Overall, I.would not recommend staying at this house.
Beautiful it may seem there are a lot if negatives.
We were asked to switch off the gas every time we wanted to use the stove. The house smells of eggs at night. The water pump makes a horrible sound when you use the toilet or any of the taps. They advertise WiFi but there is none. The bed is uncomfortable and the mosquito net has gaps in it. Sandflies are a problem and could cause a lot of discomfort.
The owner offered to pick us up from Bocas Town and charged us $60(the price of his day trips) for the trip at the end of our stay. Also, we told him we wanted to leave in the morning at 8am but came to us 30min early bothering us to leave. And charged us $60 again to take us back. $60 for a 30min boat ride is ludicrous. There is no other way of getting other water taxis to come around to pick you up so this is somewhat a trap to make you pay for his $60 tours he offers.
The owner likes to voice his own opinion about a lot of things as he has done his 'research'. So be careful for what he says as he might offend you.
The scenery is beautiful but in my opinion it is not worth the fuss.
Host (Draga) is the most wonderful, helpful, entertaining, and pleasant dude out there - and what a dude he is.
The property is much nicer then the pictures project - we should all be so lucky to spend some time there.
We stayed there for 3 nights and had a great time on the deck watching rays (some dolphins too!), snorkeling, boating, checking out the other islands, and enjoying the restaurants nearby.
Because Draga's property is a good 25 minutes from the island it takes time to get anywhere (by boat) and that costs gas which is expensive there, so keep in mind that the cost of going places must be put into the equation.
This is a late post, but thank you Draga, you are a good man and I hope to see you again soon.
Mosh, Barish/Chana (and the baby, who asked about you :)
