We originally built this retreat for family and friends but warmly extend you an invitation to enjoy the privacy and warmth that we intended for our extended family.
Linda purchased this apartment in 2012
Since job duties required that we be closer to Los Angeles, we decided to convert the west side of our lovely home into a retreat that our family could enjoy. We love the neighbors who are always willing to help but respect privacy and we plan to move back here some day. Until then, we hope you can enjoy what we will miss until then.
2 blocks from local Stone Steps beach just down from newly renovated Moonlight Beach. The best part of California can be found in Encinitas. One of the last of the state's quiet beach towns, there is a town sign stretching over the main street, which is the Pacific Coast Highway. There are not even any parking meters downtown. Our little retreat is located 2 blocks west of PCH and 2 blocks from the Pacific Ocean. Walk to the Coaster, a popular train that runs between Downtown San Diego and Oceanside with stops in Little Italy, Old Town, Solana Beach, Encinitas and Carlsbad. The closest station is a 5-minute drive or a 12-minute walk from the beach house. If you're headed to the Del Mar Races, the coaster takes you to the Solana Beach station where the red Double Decker bus delivers you right to the main entrance of Del Mar Race Track.
Legoland is a quick 10 minute drive north and the posh town of La Jolla is 10 minutes south. You don't even have to get on the freeway! Pacific Coast Highway also known as Highway 101 is the coastal road going north and south through some of the coolest beach towns in Southern California!! Encinitas is the perfect spot to enjoy the legendary California beach lifestyle. Don't miss this unforgettable experience at the coast.
We have nothing but good things to say about our stay at this property. The owner was very gracious and accommodating. She gave us all the information we needed for our stay including how to reach her if we had any problems or questions. The property is very clean and well-maintained. All the information we were given before our stay was very accurate. We would definitely recommend this property for anyone wanting to stay in Encinatis.
We just returned from a trip to Encinitas and a stay at this apartment. The description and the pictures are very accurate and legitimate. We went to the beach a lot, moonlight mostly, and did some day trips. I ran most mornings and this apartment is only 2-3 blocks from the street that runs along the ocean. Going to the beach is easy and a short distance. We usually walked with the (backpack) beach chairs that were provided. We took the boogie boards to the state park north of laguna beach (which was beautiful) for a great day trip. There is lots to do and lots of outside places to visit. Encinitas is one of the best beach towns, if not the best, that we discovered. There is a flight of stairs to the apartment so make sure you are good with that if you rent. The kitchen and bathroom are very nice and you won't need anything extra. Wifi was very good. There were beach towels provided and bikes and locks and even a small cooler. Lighting is good in all the rooms. it was a little cool at night outside when we visited and so the ventilation was fine. It might be a little warm in the summer with just windows, not so sure about their temps in the summer. It was fine for us. The neighborhood is fairly quiet for a neighborhood and appears very safe. The rest of the house is very quiet. Probably the only thing I would say on the "maybe needs replacement" list was the mattress. I thought it was soft and a little lumpy, just my opinion. Overall, five out of five stars and a wonderful place. I hope we can come back. This is undoubtedly one of the very best places we have rented. Thanks so much!
Excellent location because you can walk to the beach or to town...lovely, quiet neighborhood. The apartment is small but comfortable for two people.
We so enjoyed our short week (5 days/4 nights) at Linda's home. Encinitas is such a lovely community, and the apartment is in such a nice neighborhood. Furnished and decorated so perfectly There are even bikes to ride! We enjoyed everything about our time there. We would recommend this to anyone, and hope to be back again soon!

Great apartment in a perfect location. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the whole week. Everything that we needed was provided.
Linda has created a perfect space for a couple to spend a few days or a month. We stayed for a month and everything we needed was thoughtfully available. The location is perfect for walks to Moonlight Beach (3-4 blocks) then north on the beach to the Stone Steps and back to the retreat (3-4 blocks). It is close to downtown Encinitas and to Leucadia restaurants and shopping. The Encinitas and Leucadia farmers markets are close by too. Perfect for us was that our daughter's place was within a few minutes drive. It's small and cozy but so well done with upgraded amenities and super clean with nice private outdoor space. We will definitely book again. Thanks Linda for making it easy.
Beyond Encinitas, you're only 20-25 minutes from Sea World, San Diego's famous Old Town, downtown San Diego's Gas Lamp District, Little Italy, the Embarcadero and it's floating museums, quaint SeaPort Village, and the San Diego International Airport. Just a 30 minute drive will place you at the World Famous San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park, and fine shopping at San Diego's Fashion Valley. About 15 minutes away you can enjoy Legoland, Knott's Soak City or the Wild Animal Safari Park. And although not recommend, going to Tijuana, Mexico is only 55 minutes south if you have a passport with you. You can explore the historical gold rush town of Julian in San Diego's mountains or go north a little over an hour to Disneyland.
Enjoy all San Diego and Southern California have to offer from this great location!
