The cabin is nestled in nature with views of mountain scenery. Relax in front of a stone fronted wood fireplace. Enjoy the outdoors by grilling lunch on the deck with a view of the mountains. This two bedroom(1 queen & 2 twins), one bath cabin is located central to Highlands, Franklin and Cashiers. Vacationers love to take pontoon rides on Lake Glenville. The cabin is located halfway between Franklin and Highlands, which is close to several beautiful waterfalls and gem mining. We are 22 minutes from Franklin, 30 minutes to Highlands, 20 minutes to Lake Glenville, 35 minutes to Cashiers and less than an hour to Cherokee-All pretty drives.
Len and Lucy grew up in Minnesota and having lived a number of post graduation years in southwest Florida, decided they missed having seasons and decided they wanted a more moderate climate than where they grew up and to escape the rat race.. They discovered the beauty and peacefulness of western North Caroline and fell in love with the mountains.
Lucy or Len Myers purchased this cabin in 2012
The opportunity presented itself for aquiring this charming cabin and we couldn't pass it up.
This cabin has it all. Privacy. Charm. Cozy and Comfortable. Close to many attractions.
This is what was written in the guest book. When we booked our stay at your cabin, we had no idea we would feel so at home. The view is spectacular and the cabin is absolutely beautiful. It was a great escape from the south Mississippi heat. Thank you so much for the blackberry jam. It was a huge hit with my family. We are already planning our next trip! Thank you so very much for your kindness and hospitality.
Great hidden cabin on top of mountain .... friendly neighborhood... Lucy and Len very helpful every step of the way from booking to arriving and made us feel very welcome with a jar or the cherry jelly ... definitely two thumbs up 5 out of 5
With only three full days in the mountains, every day was spent out exploring. However, it was nice to have a quiet and secluded retreat to go to at the end of the day. Myers Snuggery provided that and more. The cabin was well-stocked, clean and relaxing! A note and a delicious jar of jam were waiting for us when we arrived. The drive up the gravel one-lane road was a little scary for this city girl, but I got used to it. (I drive a Nissan Altima and it made it up the road just fine.) There were no surprises as the cabin's description were on target. The cabin has a bookcase full of movies and books and there's a nice porch overlooking the mountains with two rocking chairs. A gas grill is supplied, but we didn't get a chance to cookout because of our limited time there. We did enjoy sitting out and looking at the stars in the evening.
I would highly recommend getting your own copy of The Wayward Traveler's Guide to Waterfalls and Backroads of Franklin & Highlands. There is a copy in the cabin, but we had our own. We took Highway 64 from Franklin to Highlands and stopped at all of the waterfalls along the side of the road. There is a page in the book that tells you how far each one is. We mapped it ahead of time. Make sure to walk down behind Dry Falls - especially if there's a lot of water from recent rain. Parking is limited so a weekday visit is better than a weekend. But it was awesome. For dinner, try Caffe Rel in Franklin. It may be attached to a gas station but the food is great and the price is very reasonable. We also drove to Bryson City and rode the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad and drove The Road to Nowhere.
There is so much more I could say, but as you can tell, I had a great time! Thank you Len and Lucy for a great cabin to call home at the end of the day! (Oh, and I've already provided the contact information to someone I know who was asking!)
Me an my wife enjoyed a wonderful honeymoon in this cabin! It was everything we wanted. We loved grilling and looking out at the view on the back porch. And the cabin was even great distance away from fun activities. Thank you Len and Lucy for sharing your home with us.
The Myers Snuggery is a good blend of simple and comfortable. Clean and well maintained. At 3,500 feet elevation, it has cool nights and clean mountain air. It is isolated and quiet with abundant bird life. We had a barred owl serenade us for two nights and wild turkeys are abundant. The cabin is comfortable with up to date amenities, but nothing ostentatious. Poor cell phone reception ... another plus! The region is spectacular with scenery, waterfalls, noisy creeks, full reservoirs. Highlands is a 20 minute drive if you feel compelled to retreat to civilization. I would recommend this cabin strongly. David G
We truly enjoyed our week here at your cozy cabin in the mountains. It was perfect for us, had everything we needed and the view was spectacular! The location was perfect for our daytime adventures out sight-seeing, hiking & waterfall viewing. Our evenings by the fireplace were so relaxing & memorable! We would love to have Len & Lucy as are neighbors. We loved it there so much, I'm sure we will be back!
Fun Factory is a wonderful retreat for kids of all ages on a rainy day. Also the Cherokee Museum. Gem mining, waterfalls, Smokey Mountain Center For the Performing Arts. Biltmore House/Asheville great day trip(over 1 million visitors per yr). Cabin is close to Cliff Side Park, which includes walking trails, picnic area/beach and lake for swimming.
