About the property

Exotic High End Unique Off-The-Grid Treehouse, steps away from the Mopan River!

WOW! We made it! Our Home, a True Labor of Love, from the start of construction, over 3 years ago, to its completion, a few days ago, is finally ready for rental! Thank you to all those that made this amazing piece of art possible!

We are located in Bullet Tree Falls, a jungle village along the Mopan River in the Cayo District of Belize. It lies approximately three miles northwest of San Ignacio, a city that serves as the cultural-economic hub of the Cayo District. It has become the fastest growing city in Belize, with its own weekly must-see market, casino, and top rated restaurants and hotels.

This stunning 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom Treehouse sleeps 6 people, rises 16 feet off the ground, sits on close to 2 acres of fully landscaped land, and is steps away from the Mopan river with a 360 degree view over the Guatemalan valley. If you are lucky, you will hear the roar of the howler monkeys at a distance. However, they will never come and disturb your peace, they will stay in their own corner of the jungle. Also, on the ground level of The Treehouse, you can enjoy an incredibly relaxing private pool, with its fountain, that could have you daydreaming in no time, if you are caught off guard...!!

The dine-in kitchen is truly inviting, and is equipped with state-of-the-art stainless steel appliances, professional cooking range, full size fridge and freezer, wine cooler, top-of-the line pots, pans, dish-ware, utensils, and accessories (Le Creuset among others).

Open the door of The Treehouse, and you come into an extremely well appointed office, with an iMac computer and an AirPrint printer, or you can bring your own laptop, as The Treehouse is connected to high speed internet via satellite. There is also WiFi throughout the house.

The 2 bedrooms have both their en-suite bathrooms. Enjoy unrestricted views of the Guatemalan valley from the bathtub in the master bedroom. Both bedrooms are equipped with internet Tv's for your enjoyment.

Sleep (daybed, sleeps 2), relax, watch TV, or read a book from our library in the adorable breezeway, that adjoins the master bedroom.

Come for a night, a week, or a month, and you will never want to leave! You can cut yourself from the world, and just enjoy the Treehouse, day-in, day-out, as there is enough entertainment, to satisfy the most discerning traveler, or you can enjoy the many attractions that Belize, and The Cayo district have to offer.

You'll be lured by the rugged beauty of the region, with its jagged limestone hills, low green mountains where tapirs, peccaries, and jaguars still roam free, and its boulder-strewn rivers and creeks. You'll also appreciate its diversity, in a compact and accessible package. Even on a short stay, you can canoe, kayak or go tubbing down the rivers, hike remote mountain trails, visit a Mayan ruin, explore underground cave systems, go birding or wildlife-spotting, shop at a busy local market, chill out at a sidewalk café, and dine in style at a good restaurant or by lamplight at a jungle lodge.

The best home away from home EVER!

  • 5 of 5

The Treehouse is the best home rental we have ever stayed in! The home, property and pool were beautiful, immaculate, in incredibly unique. Although the Treehouse was awesome, the owner, Catherine and caretaker, Tito really made us feel at home and welcome!

Catherine was kind and patient in answering my questions and giving us advice. Tito, picked us up at the airport, brought us to the zoo and lunch at Cheers, and instantly made us feel at ease! My favorite part of the experience was getting to know Tito and our guides for our adventures.

My only regret was that we didn't stay an extra night. Because we were busy seeing the sites, we didn't really get to hangout on the property as much as we wanted to.

The home is well laid out, has plenty of privacy and probably to most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. The kitchen was well appointed and we were able to grill each night on the deck. The pool was perfect and clean.

We found the location to be great as well. We were able to easily get to San Ignacio for groceries, a culinary class at Marie Sharp's and the best dark chocolate at AJAW.

Cave tubing (coolest cave experience ever!), ziplining and the Xunantunich ruins were and easy hour or so drive away. We used Belize Nature Travel. Kevin, our guide, picked us up and dropped us off at the Treehouse. So easy and fun. Loved him and the tours.

Guatemala is also just a short drive away and we were able to visit Tikal with a private guide. The trip although a longer drive (2-2 1/2 hours) to the ruins was so worth it! So different than Xunantunich and huge!

The last morning I was up bright and early listening to and watching the crazy birds. I really wished we would have planned an extra day to chill at the Treehouse, tube the river, and relax on the pool. But it was time for the second half of our adventure on the island to dive and fish.

I would highly recommend the Treehouse to anyone! It was perfect for our family of Mom, Dad, 21 year old daughter and 18 year old son. It would be great for a couple or two couples as well as the rooms are totally private and separate.

My advise - Plan an extra day. You won't regret it!

Beyond what we had imagined!

  • 5 of 5

The pictures of this gorgeous home do not do it justice. Everything about this home was perfect for our first trip to San Ignacio.

We were greeted by Tito, the keeper of the house/grounds. Tito was very helpful with everything and anything we needed. The road into the Tree House is quite bumpy and feels like it might take forever to get down, but trust me, the bumpy road is worth it! Once you see that house and where you'll be vacationing for the next several days, you forget all about the bumpy road!

Highly suggest taking up the private chef for at least one of the nights (if not all) while you stay here. Chef Ennel is amazing and gave us a brilliant Belizean meal that we are still raving about.

While here we did some cave tubbing with PACS tour, very easy to find, and very fun. We also checked out the local ruins, and found out when howler monkeys are all about! shocking!!! but cool. We also checked out the Iguana Sanctuary, very awesome if you're into large lizards! We also walked down the drive way and hoped into the Mopan River with a cooler and floated it down to Mohogany Hall where dinner and drinks were waiting for us when we got out of the river. Its about a 2 hr float; its not a fast moving river, and requires a bit of arm paddling, especially during our stay.

Saturday Market is worth the trip into town for some delicious Belizean Breakfast.

And our favorite restaurant in San Ignacio was hands down the Guava Limb. Excellent food and some very refreshing frozen mojitos.

Awesome, beautiful, wonderful!!!

  • 5 of 5

The property is more beautiful than the pictures. The pictures do not do it justice. Every detail was thought out. Our family of 2 adults and 2 children enjoyed the house, the pool, and the pool table immensely. The caretaker, Tito, was super attentive and just wonderful. There's nothing negative I can comment on. We had such a wonderful time, we didn't want to leave!

The location is also central to shopping and restaurants so it was very convenient.

Thank you, Catherine, for extending your lovely home to us!

Unique, comfortable piece of a jungle paradise

  • 5 of 5

We were so excited to stay at a tree house in the jungle and we weren't disappointed! The bedrooms are enormous, as is the kitchen. The pool is the perfect temperature to cool off after a hot day. Our boys spent quite a bit of time playing pool in the shade of the house. Tito, the caretaker, blew up inner tubes for us to float down the Mopan river (watch out for the prickly bamboo!!!). The grounds are immaculate and immense. The only things to be aware of is that there is no immediate access to the river. It is across the road and to the left about a 3-5 minute walk. If the caretaker asks if you mind his dogs staying there (2 very friendly, wonderful dogs) be aware that they bark at night. We would highly recommend this place to anyone considering it.

This Place Is One of a Kind!

  • 5 of 5

If you care about design, then this is the place for you! It is very well designed and decorated. The furnishings are high-end and thoughtfully chosen, as are the kitchen and bathroom fixtures. It really is more of a private home than a rental. This is a unique and special place.

It is hard to get a feel for it from the pictures: It is a series of three circular rooms each connected by breezeways, opening through multiple French doors, onto an elevated deck, surrounding a large tree, and overlooking a private pool and yard. The circular rooms on each end are bedrooms with French doors opening to the deck and beautifully designed private bathrooms. The master bedroom also has an elegant soaking tub in front of a window (with secure wooden blinds if you want privacy!) The middle circular room is an oversized kitchen with a dining area that also opens to the deck with French doors. The kitchen is very big and has plenty of storage and counter space as well as great appliances. One breezeway is the entrance and office , with a desktop computer and printer,; the other breezeway has a day bed and can double as an extra bedroom.

The lower deck has a private pool with a waterfall and fun color changing lights. The deck has plenty of nice seating and there is a separate bathroom for the pool as well as an outdoor pool table. The pool is generously deep (4-4.5 ft??) and has a seat along one end. The drop from the seat to the bottom of the pool is substantial and might be a concern if you have little kids.

The caretaker, Tito lives nearby. He also doubled as our driver and guide. He was very nice and did everything he could to make our stay pleasant. Many of the roads in Belize are rough and require a sturdy FWD vehicle. For us, it made sense to hire Tito rather than rent and drive ourselves. Also, some guided tours , like Pacz Tours, will pick you up at the treehouse for no additional charge. The treehouse is about a 10-15 minute bumpy drive off the main road.

I have few negative comments about this place, it really Is cool. However, the Internet was a little spotty ( satellite) and the hot water, while plentiful, took a long time to flow. But these are easily compensated for by the quality of this rental.
