Why Owner/Property Manager chose North Fork

Everything is close. Short walk to waterfront village. Wineries, golf, beaches are all close.

Our favorite vineyards are:

1) Kontokosta (wine is ok - setting is great. half mile from house)

2) Bedell (10 minute drive at most)

3) Corey Creek (10 minute drive at most)

4) Croteux (great Rose - great intimate outdoor setting - 10 minute drive at most)

5) Shinn

6) Rapheal

7) Paumonok (10 minute drive at most)

The list goes on and on. Plenty of vineyards and they are all fun.

Here are our top five restaurants (all are very good).

1)Noah's (walking - Front St. – less than 10 minute walk)

1A) Blue Canoe (Third St. – less than 10 minute walk)

2)Frisky Oyster (Front St. – less than 10 minute walk)

3)First & South (corner of First St. and South– less than 10 minute walk)

4)North Fork Oyster Company (Main St. – less than 10 minute walk)

5)Scrimshaws (Front St. waterfront dining– less than 10 minute walk

6)Alure (driving - very good seafood - waterfront dining- 8 minute drive- 62300 Main Rd.).

*North Fork Table (Main Rd. – 8 minute drive

What makes this house unique

One of the few properties in the one square mile village of Greenport that features a private backyard. The property backs up to nationally protected wetlands. Ospreys continuously are flying overhead and deer are a common site.

Guestbook comments from the owner

On a last-minute whim my family and I booked a long weekend here. The owner was very helpful and informative and emailed me answers to all my questions. We liked the pictures from the site but committing to a place sight unseen can always feel a little daunting. After a three hour car ride-- two tantrums and a diaper change, we arrived.

We loved everything about the place, from morning coffee on the back deck, to the the décor - slightly modern with a beachy vibe - to afternoon BBQ’s. To my surprise, the backyard backs up onto a lake -which you can only catch a glimpse of because of the forest of bamboo - or something that looked like bamboo, but the sense of privacy is AMAZING. The beds were very comfortable, the linens were great, we felt like this was a home away from home.

The other added bonus, was the location. Very central while remaining very private - short walk to a beautiful beach and to town where there was tons of stuff to do — we barely scratched the surface in our abbreviated stay.

We would DEFINITELY stay here again — a truly wonderful spot.

Felt like a second home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 6 weeks last summer. The owner was incredibly quick to respond to any questions we had, and the house was absolutely wonderful. The kitchen was great, as was eating meals on both of the lovely porches. The house has a nice ability to let everyone come together or find their own space. The downstairs bedroom was super quiet, we had friends stay over who had a one year old and we didn't hear them all night, and they said they couldn't hear us at all. Sadly, we didn't get to use the ping pong table as our 2 month old wouldn't have put up much of a challenge. We've rented a number of places over the years and this was one of the easiest stays we ever had. The house had everything we needed when we arrived so there was no panicked rush to go out to the store and buy basic amenities. There's even a decent spice collection. Overall, just a really great house that gave us some much needed rest after a very hectic spring.

Great family-friendly home!

  • 5 of 5

From its two decks (upstairs and downstairs) to the barbecue to the large, private backyard to the ping pong table in the basement--this house was perfect for 20-somethings, their parents, and random aunts and uncles. We stayed there a week and only ate dinner out one time, it was that appealing as a hang-out place! The owner was incredibly responsive from start to finish, including giving recommendations for places to go, things to do, and more. Greenport was a great getaway destination, both for our NYC contingent and their California relatives. Shelter Island is a very short ferry ride away and is beautiful. We loved nearby Orient Beach State Park--great for kids and adults alike--and lots of wineries around--great for adults!

Amazing month in Greenport

  • 5 of 5

We have rented many places over the years, but this property was our best experience yet. In fact, it's the only one for which I have been compelled to write a review. We spent a whole month here and it was hard to leave at the end. It was very clear that this was not just a rental property, but a home. It was incredibly well outfitted - everything from the furnishings to the kitchenware. On top of that, the owner was as good as it gets. His whole focus was on making our stay wonderful. On top of that, the town is charming and the surrounding area filled with fun activities. Enjoy!

Fantastic house!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous stay at Michael's house. The house itself is perfect. Spacious, well-decorated, large backyard, cook's kitchen, and ping pong! It's also a great location - walking distance to downtown Greenport (great restaurants, ice cream, carousel), and short drive to the beach and vineyards and farm stands. We highly recommend it. We loved the house so much we didn't want to leave. And Michael made everything easy.

Super modern, clean, well-located house with very helpful owner

  • 4 of 5

This is a meticulously clean, newly renovated, modern, bright, well-decorated house. It's located within walking distance of downtown Greeenport. Downstairs bedroom makes it easy for those with little kids to have one take a nap away from any noise or distractions. Nice-size yard. Very helpful, involved, and easygoing owner Michael will deal with any problems that arise and supply you with parking passes for all the town beaches.

Beautiful. Comfortable. Everything we could have wished for!

  • 5 of 5

My family rented this house for five days at the end of July to celebrate my Dad's 70th birthday. There were six of us (three couples) and we absolutely adored the place. Beautifully decorated, clean, quiet, and with a deck that seems to get sunshine all day long! Whether we were enjoying drinks and dinner outside, reading and relaxing on the L-shaped couch in the living room, watching deer roam about in the garden, or playing ping pong and Wii downstairs, this house had exactly what we were looking for in a vacation rental. And it's about a five minute walk to the heart of Greenport and ten minutes to the beach! You really couldn't ask for a better location. Michael was available when we needed him and gave some great tips and recommendations about the area. Easy five stars. We will definitely be back.
