One of the few properties in the one square mile village of Greenport that features a private backyard. The property backs up to nationally protected wetlands. Ospreys continuously are flying overhead and deer are a common site.
On a last-minute whim my family and I booked a long weekend here. The owner was very helpful and informative and emailed me answers to all my questions. We liked the pictures from the site but committing to a place sight unseen can always feel a little daunting. After a three hour car ride-- two tantrums and a diaper change, we arrived.
We loved everything about the place, from morning coffee on the back deck, to the the décor - slightly modern with a beachy vibe - to afternoon BBQ’s. To my surprise, the backyard backs up onto a lake -which you can only catch a glimpse of because of the forest of bamboo - or something that looked like bamboo, but the sense of privacy is AMAZING. The beds were very comfortable, the linens were great, we felt like this was a home away from home.
The other added bonus, was the location. Very central while remaining very private - short walk to a beautiful beach and to town where there was tons of stuff to do — we barely scratched the surface in our abbreviated stay.
We would DEFINITELY stay here again — a truly wonderful spot.
From its two decks (upstairs and downstairs) to the barbecue to the large, private backyard to the ping pong table in the basement--this house was perfect for 20-somethings, their parents, and random aunts and uncles. We stayed there a week and only ate dinner out one time, it was that appealing as a hang-out place! The owner was incredibly responsive from start to finish, including giving recommendations for places to go, things to do, and more. Greenport was a great getaway destination, both for our NYC contingent and their California relatives. Shelter Island is a very short ferry ride away and is beautiful. We loved nearby Orient Beach State Park--great for kids and adults alike--and lots of wineries around--great for adults!
We have rented many places over the years, but this property was our best experience yet. In fact, it's the only one for which I have been compelled to write a review. We spent a whole month here and it was hard to leave at the end. It was very clear that this was not just a rental property, but a home. It was incredibly well outfitted - everything from the furnishings to the kitchenware. On top of that, the owner was as good as it gets. His whole focus was on making our stay wonderful. On top of that, the town is charming and the surrounding area filled with fun activities. Enjoy!
We had a fabulous stay at Michael's house. The house itself is perfect. Spacious, well-decorated, large backyard, cook's kitchen, and ping pong! It's also a great location - walking distance to downtown Greenport (great restaurants, ice cream, carousel), and short drive to the beach and vineyards and farm stands. We highly recommend it. We loved the house so much we didn't want to leave. And Michael made everything easy.
This is a meticulously clean, newly renovated, modern, bright, well-decorated house. It's located within walking distance of downtown Greeenport. Downstairs bedroom makes it easy for those with little kids to have one take a nap away from any noise or distractions. Nice-size yard. Very helpful, involved, and easygoing owner Michael will deal with any problems that arise and supply you with parking passes for all the town beaches.
My family rented this house for five days at the end of July to celebrate my Dad's 70th birthday. There were six of us (three couples) and we absolutely adored the place. Beautifully decorated, clean, quiet, and with a deck that seems to get sunshine all day long! Whether we were enjoying drinks and dinner outside, reading and relaxing on the L-shaped couch in the living room, watching deer roam about in the garden, or playing ping pong and Wii downstairs, this house had exactly what we were looking for in a vacation rental. And it's about a five minute walk to the heart of Greenport and ten minutes to the beach! You really couldn't ask for a better location. Michael was available when we needed him and gave some great tips and recommendations about the area. Easy five stars. We will definitely be back.
We had a group of four couples stay at Michael's place in Greenport and had a wonderful stay. The location is perfect, an easy walk into the main town and a short drive from many of the best activities on the North Fork. Michael was great in recommending some of his favorite places to visit - we went to a couple of his top recommendations being the North Fork Table & Inn and Croteaux Winery and loved both! The house also provides very easy access to Shelter Island - we took a day trip over there via the ferry (which is pretty much at the end of the street!) and had a great time.
The house has four large bedrooms, all with extremely comfortable double/queen/king beds (which I found rare as many houses seemed to have bunk beds which is not suitable for adults/couples travelling together). It is very clean, tastefully and well decorated and the kitchen is large and fully equipped - we were able to cook up breakfast at home each day of our stay easily. There is a decking area which was great for an outdoor meal one day and backyard which the boys were able to throw around a football - we even saw a deer one day in the backyard!
All in all, we had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend it to anyone. We will definitely be returning!
