The Fifth Element was designed around the idea that when on vacation, stress should melt away. At this unbelievable destination, you will find everything you need for that relaxing getaway. Most every room in the house offers stunning views of Lake Michigan, and the inviting interior will make everyone feel right at home. Sit out on the front porch with a cup of coffee and enjoy stunning sunrises over Lake Michigan. Or escape to the private, secluded back yard enclosed by mature cedar and pine trees for a campfire and marshmallow roast with the kids. If it rains, retreat to the large covered deck or gaze out at Lake Michigan from the comforts of the cottage while flames blaze in the living room's fireplace. Our cottage is perfect for a couples' anniversary weekend or for families looking to spend time on the pristine beaches of Lake Michigan.
Located across the boulevard from dog-friendly beaches of Lake Michigan in Two Rivers, you are steps away from a day of sun tanning and kite flying on the beach or a short jaunt away from a Snowcoaster pizza at Port Sandy Bay. For biking enthusiasts, the 6 mile paved Mariner's Trail is across the boulevard along Lake Michigan, connecting Two Rivers and Manitowoc and Rawley Point Trail. The cottage is less than a mile from Woodland Dunes Nature Center and Preserve, which provides sanctuary for watching an array of migratory and resident birds. Two Rivers provides the best sport fishing on Lake Michigan.
Centrally located and less than an hour from Lambeau Field, Door County, Oneida Casino, Road America, Whistling Straits and Black Wolf Run golf courses, the Fifth Element is the perfect affordable home base for a variety of day trips.
The house offers 3 bedrooms on the upper level: a kids bedroom with a twin bed, a guest room with a double bed, and a master room with a queen bed. The upper level has a full bathroom with shower and bathtub. The main level features an open spacious kitchen, a living room, half bathroom and dining room. The living room features a queen hide-a-bed, gas fireplace, flat screen TV, free WiFi and a book and DVD library.

We purchased this home as a future retirement home and decided in the mean time to let others enjoy the wonderful access to Lake Michigan!
McKensie purchased this cottage in 2011
Lake Michigan in the front yard, cedar/pine wooded backyard!
Convenient location on Lake Michigan and Mariner's Trail. Complimentary hybrid bikes and helmets. Complimentary X-country skis and boots.
My family chose this home to be where we stayed while vacationing in the Two Rivers region in August. We liked that it was reasonably priced and had enough bedrooms for us each to have our own (a master and two additional bedrooms). But once we were actually in the home, there was so much more to like and love than just that! The home itself is from the early 1900s, but the inside has clearly been updated and carefully maintained. The house itself is on a four lane pseudo highway, but beyond the road is nothing but lake. There is only a neighbor on one side: the back of the house backs up to a field, and the other side neighbors a credit union (meaning that it closes at the end of business hours at which point it is quiet). The backyard is flanked by big, old evergreens for privacy, and has an extraordinary covered deck area with lots of furniture and grills and fire pit. There is a garage that contains fire starting materials and a space in the garage for guests' use.
The house itself is beautifully decorated: the furniture is sturdy and timeless and there are lots of pillows and blankets strategically placed about for curling up near the big windows, or the gas fireplace in the evening (our dog loved laying on the carpet as close as he could to the hearth each evening after the kids went to sleep). The floor plan of the main level is quite open, the dining room, living room and spacious kitchen each pouring into one another. There is a little powder room off the kitchen, and a french door that leads down to the basement or the backyard door (providing nice noise-dampening for nighttime laundry). The basement itself is semi-finished, with some tables for adults and kids and some board games on shelves, and a laundry set for guests' use. The bedrooms have incredibly comfortable beds, ample storage, and cute decor. The master has a queen bed, the first guest room has what appears to be a double/full, and the third a twin. The upstairs bath has a shower/tub combo.
The house is located very well to major roads, so trips into door county and appleton were easy. The local beaches (particularly Nashota) are meticulously maintained and near lots of good food/fun options.
All in all, this was a wonderful home, and a nice area. We would definitely return.
We spent six nights at The Fifth Element and had gorgeous days for all of them. My family enjoyed being close to many activities and having about a one hour drive to Door County. The house was clean and had everything you could possibly think of that you might have needed. The views from the windows in the house were magnificent. Walking along the beach was also a great plus. I had one complaint--getting used to the noise in the evening when you are trying to sleep. However, after the first night, I tuned it all out. I guess being from the suburbs in Illinois where everything is quiet was a change.
The house has a huge backyard. We grilled one of the nights and enjoyed Smores in the firepit.
The owners answered questions quickly and made sure our stay was just as planned. The owner recommended a great restaurant "Gibs on the Lake" for our anniversary dinner. Great place, steaks wonderful, and the view was gorgeous.
If I am ever in the Two Lakes/Manitowac area again, I would stay at the house again. It was also great that the owner allowed pets and my dog was able to enjoy the vacation with us.
Everyone in our family enjoyed staying at the Fifth Element. The kids both enjoyed the setting, the backyard & the basement options (numerous board games, a fire pit, complete with 1 night's fire wood supplied). My husband and I loved the cleanliness, modern appliances and general condition of the home. The location was perfect - great view of the Lake from the front porch and easy access to both Two Rivers & Manitowoc. We would not hesitate to rent the home again and will recommend it to friends. We toured the Hamilton Wood Print factory, the Sand Dunes State Park and of course, the Washington House in Two Rivers for an original ice cream sundae. Also loved Connie's Diner for hearty portions, simple fare and old fashioned, diner style eating. Our ever hungry teenagers loved it! We also toured the Maritime Museum and enjoyed the beach in Manitowoc and twice went to Bernsteens across the street from the Maritime museum; once for a huge lunch and again the next day for (more) ice cream sundaes and some sweets for our drive back home. It was a perfect week in small town America!
The house is very comfortable, clean and in a great location. Waking up in the morning and watching the many Pelicans on the Lake from the bed was a real treat. With two dogs it was great to walk along he Lake shore whenever
we wanted to. The front porch was a wonderful place to sit, enjoy a cup of coffee and delicious pastries from Hartman's Bakery while Lake Michigan provided a feast for the eyes. Door County with it's beautiful scenery and well maintained small towns is not too far away to spend a day there. We hope to visit again next year.
We completely enjoyed our stay at The Fifth Element! The cottage had everything we could possibly need and more than we had time for. The kitchen was the best equipped of any rental we have stayed in. Any questions we had were quickly answered and instructions were already there for everything else.
I was a bit concerned about the road noise after reading some other reviews, but we really didn't notice it much when we were inside and my father in law very much enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching both boats on the water and cars on the road. We did not have any difficulties getting across the road to the bike path, and the 2 cruiser bikes were a joy to have use of! We would definitely stay again if we we were going back to the area.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us.
We drove all the way from Nashville TN and was totally taken back by all the comforts of home. My husband grew up in Manitowoc but we were unprepared for the daily view of Lake Michigan. It was literally right across the street and could be seen easily from the kitchen, living room, and the upstairs bedroom. A sheer delight!!! The property was clean, accurately listed, and well maintained.
Thank you for providing those little things like paper towels, bathroom tissue, bath soap, ample towels, and coffee!
My husband is a cyclist and road his recumbent bike everyday on the beautiful trails. Thank you for providing bikes but I couldn't tear myself away from the front porch.
The Fifth Element is really Wisconsin's best kept secret!
We will definitely return again next year :-)
