A Great Place To Plan A Vacation!
This lovely property and home were all that we were hoping for. The house was clean, comfortable and welcoming. The owners were not present upon arrival but there was a
welcoming message along with a goody bag to enjoy during our stay. Although not the norm
when renting a house for vacation every bed was comfortable and you woke up feeling refreshed and ready to start the day. A day canoeing and fishing on Cranberry Lake met all
our expectations. The water was like glass and the fish plentiful. My two grandchildren were
in seventh heaven with all the fish they caught and the water level by the pier was clear and friendly enough for a five and seven year old to enjoy and keep them busy. Also there are many activities to enjoy in the surrounding areas. Dinner at the Ranch in Hayward was exceptional. My family and I are always looking for good supper clubs to eat at and dinner
at the Ranch in Hayward is at the top of our list. The food and service rendered were excellent. I would highly recommend this fine eating establishment while spending time
in the area. The only complaint that I may have concerning this rental is that the time spent was way too short. None of us wanted to leave! Would I rent this property again? In a heart beat! So if one is looking for comfort, the amenities of home along with the beauty and seclusion of the north woods....this is the place to consider. A heart felt thanks to Ken and his lovely wife for a wonderful vacation.

Family cabin retreat!
We just got back from a week at this lake home. It was like staying at a friend's cabin! Everything you need is there...just bring food and clothes! Literally. Everything! The owners were beyond friendly and accommodating, even with tips on baby proofing the cabin! The family room downstairs was great for a movie night for the little kids while the parents were right out the doors at the campfire. The dock area was great for wading and swimming, with a table area by the water that we turned into our play and sand area. The deck was so relaxing with comfy patio seating...lots of cookouts and drinks!! There's 2 bedrooms on the main level-one with bunk beds that's filled with toys, so that was our official toy room! We had 4 little ones from 9mo to 5 years old, and everyone was very occupied! Lots of water and sand toys provided outside too. We spent a couple days at sand island, one day at the county park beach, and other days playing at the cabin with kayaks and paddle boats. There isn't much for parking, but we made 2 trucks, 2 boat trailers, and an SUV all fit in front. We really felt at home and comfortable here. There isn't a laundry list of rules like other places. The owner was really easy to contact through texts while we were there, and notes like "help yourself to anything" was refreshing and we appreciated the trust! Thanks again!!
Everything you need in a beautiful setting.
Shangri-Lodge is a fantastic cabin in a great northwoods setting. Our family enjoyed all the amenities and our grandchildren loved their room with all the games and the stuffed animals. You don't need to bring anything, the cabin has it all. The Minong Flowage is a beautiful place and Shangri-lodge is a great place to enjoy it. Ken contacted us on the day we arrived and made sure everything was going well. If the weather turns bad or you just want to stay inside the cabin has plenty of games, books, DVD's, TV etc to keep you occupied. I recommend Shangri-lodge for the perfect northwoods getaway.
Best of times.
All I can say is WOW. I went to Shangri Lodge with 7 of my friends and we all had such a great time. We were welcomed to the home with cookies, s'mores, and a bowl full of all the information you need. The place is beautiful and has everything you will ever need for a vacation on the lake. We brought up 2 boats and caught lots of fish. I have to give credit to the owner as he was more than happy to answer every question I had in a timely manner, was extremely friendly, and wanted to do his all to make sure we had the best time at his place. I would recommend this place to everyone who needs a weekend getaway to a lake. Thanks for everything!
Excellent canoeing on Namekagon River just 15 minutes away (St, Croix National Scenic Riverway), several golf courses less than 20 minutes away (Black Bear is 10 minutes away), great fishing on the flowage and
surrounding lakes, wildlife viewing (eagles, deer, bear, loons, geese, etc, ), boating on Lake Superior just an hour away, 4-Wheeling, lots of local festivals/activities including the Birkebeiner cross-country ski race, Hayward Muskyfest and Lumberjack festivals, Spooner Rodeo, Minong Summerdays and Gordon Good Neighbor Days.
