About Wayne & Kimberly Pitts

The owners, Kim and Wayne, moved to Albuquerque for graduate school at UNM and fell in love with the Southwest. They built the house when their boys, Forrest and Walker, were little. Kim decorated it with furniture, handicrafts and art from their travels throughout Latin America. Wayne's job moved them away from Albuquerque, but they kept the house and hope to return to live there one day. Forrest and Walker also attended UNM. Walker is now in the Army and Forrest is working full-time. The Land of Enchantment has captured our hearts.

Wayne & Kimberly Pitts purchased this house in 2000

Why Wayne & Kimberly Pitts chose Albuquerque

This house is perfectly situated with easy access to I-40. The owners invested in this part of town because they enjoyed the appeal of living in the southwestern quadrant of Albuquerque. The house is close to Old Town and there are a lot of nearby attractions for children including the world-class zoo, the aquarium and biopark, the Children's Museum, and the Museum of Natural History. There are also some fantastic New Mexican restaurants nearby.

What makes this house unique

Because we built the home using a custom builder, we were able to add some special features. From the moment you enter the hand-carved front gate in the courtyard to the carved posts on the pergola on the back patio, you will notice the special details of this house. All of the furnishings have a unique history and many were made by Mexican artisans.

In the fall, the smell of roasted green chile fills the air and the home is perfectly situated to enjoy the sights of the Sandia Mountains. Don't be surpised to see a hot air balloon fly directly over the house.

There's no better place to call home when visiting Albuquerque.

We were so pleased to pull into this quiet, gated community in Southwest Albuquerque and found that the house was just around the corner from the entrance - it was so inviting! We walked through the lovely front garden, and into the entrance, finding it perfectly air-conditioned, which as a furry bear is quite important. The spacious living room with gas fireplace, comfy couches, and a well-stocked bookshelf (including DVDs) were just what we needed to relax before heading out on our adventures. We hiked the Sandia Mountains, took the train to Santa Fe, visited our bear family in Los Lunas, and took in the general loveliness that characterizes New Mexico. Each night, we enjoyed the evening air out on the back patio. We felt like we were in our own backyard oasis getaway with plenty of privacy. We were delighted by the oversized garage for the car as well. I highly recommend making this casita your home base next time you’re in Albuquerque.

Safe, clean home that is close to the major places in the city.

  • 5 of 5

Clean house in a nice neighborhood. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of towels. Nice backyard to drink coffee in the morning. The decor was Southwestern but not over the top. Powerful airconditioner kept things cool in the summer heat. The Pitts were on call and very helpful when we had questions about some of the controls on the house. All in all we had enjoyable stay for five days for four people.

Absolutely perfect for our needs!!!

  • 5 of 5

Five ladies from church in El dorado AR rented it for a week while we were doing a VBS at To’hajiiee Indian Reservation. It was perfect for us!! We had been staying in a hotel in Albuquerque for the last 6 years and decided to try VRBBO. The owners were very gracious, the house was immaculate and decorated beautifully. We want to rent it again next year!!!

A Great Family Week on Albuquerque!

  • 5 of 5

This lovely quiet neighborhood is just the place for a family or friends reunion. The home is so comfortable....inside and out! We enjoyed the outside as much as the very well appointed inside. Decorations inside are so interesting and very nicely done. We had plenty of everything to work with in the kitchen and so enjoyed the openness. Most evenings we had fire in the outside fireplace and, of course, s’mores! All in all, our stay was great and made me look like a Queen because I made the arrangements!!

100% happy

  • 5 of 5

The photos and descriptions are accurate. This is a quiet, charming home with plenty of room to not be tripping over ones traveling companions. The covered back patio was an amazing place for morning coffee--and afternoon cocktails (and dinner). Lovely to look at the pergola and back yard from the covered patio--which is so cozy that we didn't venture into the other areas of the back yard where one could easily sit and relax. I highly recommend this lovely home. Also--the owners were very easy to work with and were in close contact, making our stay worry-free.
