About Tricia Long

I first visited the Outer Banks and specifically Hatteras Island in February 2008. I was hooked immediately. I loved the natural wildness of HI and the quaint non-commercialized tri-cities area (Rodanthe/Waves/Salvo). I walked by Lost at Sea and fell in love immediatly. I signed the contract purchasing Lost at Sea before I even left the island that same week.

The photo is of my Belgian Malinois - Dakota. She was with me that week I found LAS and she continues to enjoy her visits to the beach catching the frisbie on the beach and swimming in the ocean.

I hope you enjoy LAS and the local area as much as we do on our visits.

Tricia Long purchased this cottage in 2008

Perfect place for relaxation!

  • 4 of 5

The house was perfect for our small family. We were close to the beach which was the best part! The house was stocked with pretty much everything we needed which was nice. Nice quiet neighborhood but a little bit of a drive to all the major attractions. Other then that we had a great time and would recommend this house to friends and family!

Great beach house

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Lost at Sea. The house is perfect for a small family. The owner is great to deal with and made sure we had everything we needed for a great stay on Hatteras Island. The only small inconvenience was that the refrigerator in the kitchen is too small and we had to run downstairs to the full size refrigerator every time we wanted a cold drink. The beach is great and is a short walk over a nice path over the dunes which has a wooden walk and stairs. We would definitely stay in this house again.

Perfect size and super cute

  • 4 of 5

Our family had a lovely stay at Lost at Sea. The property was just right for our family of four (2 kids ages 6 and 8). The beach was just a short walk from the house and it was gorgeous. Not overly crowded and just amazing to be on the beach and not see anything but the beach! We actully got brave with our CRV and purchased a beach driving permit and went down to the beach access ramp #25 just a few miles south which was a huge hit with the kids. Aside from spending time on the beach, we enjoyed having the wifi at the house and my husband and I especially enjoyed the top level deck for star gazing after the kids were in bed. My two minor complaints about Lost at Sea were 1) there weren't really enough bath/hand towels for all of us but we made it work 2) there is only a mini fridge in the kitchen. A full-size fridge is located in the laundry room off the carport, one level down. Not a huge deal for a not *that* old yet person like myself, but slightly inconvenient. This information is in the property description but I guess I missed it. Not a big deal. All in all Lost at Sea is a great little place and we would definitley stay again if we come back to Salvo, which I hope we do!

Another fantastic stay at LAS

  • 5 of 5

For the third year we enjoyed a wonderful week at LAS. We love the quiet neighborhood, the placement of the house, and the sparsely populated beach. LAS is perfect for the two of us and our dog. The house is bright and comfortable, and we appreciate how it accommodates our dog--the gated deck, under house dog run, and the extended shower head in the outdoor shower that allows us to easy wash salt and sand from our surf-loving GSP.

Beautiful vacation home

  • 5 of 5

Lost at Sea is situated just off the ocean and a small walk to the beach. It is perfect for a small family get a way and for a family that doesn't necessarily want to vacation with extended family to afford the get away in one of the larger beach houses. The owner makes sure all needs are met and more. Love love

Great vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Lost at Sea for a week and had a great time! The house was beautiful and is located in a very peaceful neighborhood. Tricia was very accommodating and checked in part way through the week to make sure all was ok. We would definitely rent again.
