Overview

About the property

Enjoy the perfect, cozy little getaway a bit removed from the hustle and bustle of town, yet just 2 miles away. It is just the right place for parents visiting their kids who live, work and play in Crested Butte, as mine do. You can be close to them, but not in their space!!

From your 3rd floor deck view the majesty of 12,162' Mt. Crested Butte, wake to the sunrise over the screefields, sip cocktails while watching the Alpine Glow on the mountains, listen to the calls of the coyotes & fox, enjoy the antics of the mulititude of hummingbirds at the summer feeder and the other song birds throughout the year, and then there is the peaceful sky full of stars to end your day!

Lake Grant, it's Pavilion and hiking trails are just a 5 minute walk and a wonderful asset available for your use, especially with the stocked lake for the fishermen and women!

Our 600sq ft condo is just right for a single or couple with a queen sized bed, pull out couch, TV & DVD, full bath, kitchenette with all appliances needed to cook what you need. With all of the great restaurants in town, I tend to keep cooking to a minimum, but have also cooked gourmet meals for 8 in my little kitchen.

There is a large hot tub and deck with another wonderful view for the Skyland Lodge residents as well as a coin op laundry downstairs.

About Noreen Driscoll

This is our vacation home in the Butte! After a couple of visits to CB, staying in my son's guest room, I knew if I wanted to visit more often (who wouldn't) I needed to find our own space. Skyland Lodge fits that need for us, and more.

Back home in Connecticut, I am a Floral and Garden designer, which gives me many weeks in the winter to enjoy what CB has to offer. My husband is a Automotive Restoration specialist who loves the moto sports in the mountains that is not as readily available in the East.

Noreen Driscoll purchased this condo in 2009

Quiet and small

  • 4 of 5

Size-wise, A Sweet Haven is certainly cozy. It is a studio apt, with a small, yet functional, separate bath and a teeny kitchenette. Everything Noreen writes in her description is accurate, there weren't any unpleasant surprises. The building was very quiet during my stay, which I appreciated. The location is convenient, situated a couple miles south of CB surrounded by mountain McMansions. Two items kept me from giving this property five stars. One, I didn't like having to purchase a damage insurance policy to rent the condo. I'd rather put down a deposit I can recoup than being required to pay an unknown insurance company a non-refundable $59. Two, the bed was much too firm for my liking. I know that is a personal preference, but for me it was so uncomfortable, I ended up spending four of my five nights on the pull-out sofa instead of the bed. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay at A Sweet Haven, finding it an excellent alternative to more expensive lodgings in town or on the ski hill.

Great!!!

  • 5 of 5

It was perfect for one person. The view was great. I enjoyed being away from town where it seemed a little more quiet but only a 10 minute bike ride on the trail to town.

Simple living

  • 5 of 5

Nice location with a simplistic studio approach. Perfect for 2 people just passing through the area with not a lot of needs for amenities.

Lovely location!

  • 4 of 5

We spent a week in Crested Butte at Sweet Haven for our nieces wedding. The view was beautiful and we loved the location. Not too far out of town, close enough to enjoy the town activities and access the fantastic hiking, but far enough away to feel like you had escaped. The condo is the perfect size for 2 adults. Being a "studio" floor plan there isn't enough privacy for more than that. Bed was extremely comfortable, amenities were great. Enough cooking essentials for basic meals, but not set up for preparing a 3 course gourmet dinner. Which for us was fine!

There are only two things we saw as possible negatives. If you have trouble climbing stairs, do not stay here. It is on the 3rd floor and there is no elevator. In addition to the wedding, we came to get in as much hiking as possible, so it was fine with us. The other thing is that there are a lot of personal items of the owners in the only closet that you can hang clothes in. Having to bring clothes for the wedding, this was an issue for us. And the fact that there is no place to stash your suitcase etc. that is out of sight when not in use. Other than that, we found Sweet Haven to be a perfect get away and would definitely stay there again.

great location

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our little mountain condo. There was plenty of space for two people. Great views from the balcony. And the walk around the nearby lake was lovely. There were tons of wild flowers and several bluebirds. It was beautiful!

My only disappointment was the damage deposit options. I felt trapped into paying for damage insurance rather than a huge damage deposit. I have never encountered this policy in any other vacation rental. I almost didn't rent this unit because of it.

Breathtaking View

  • 5 of 5

The rental was spacious and plenty of room for two people. The condo was located in a great area, with easy access to hiking and only an 8 minute drive to Elk Avenue (A $12 Uber ride - only 1 Uber driver in town). The view was breathtaking and the hot tub was the perfect way to relax after a long day of hiking.

Crested Butte is one big outdoor playground, integrated with a great arts scene, fine restuarants and a multitude of locally owned, unique shops. There is something for everyone!!
