Tucked into a quiet neighborhood in the heart of Victoria, BC, Dragonfly Cottage offers both the charm of a heritage home and proximity to the area’s most popular attractions.

We’re steps away from the restaurants, cafes and shops on trendy Cook Street, and only one house down from the 200-acre Beacon Hill Park. Another two blocks will take you to the ocean with walks along Dallas Road and the beach, with views of the Olympic Mountains across Juan de Fuca Strait. And if you’re looking for museums, heritage spots, or nightlife, downtown Victoria is just a short walk away.

Much like Victoria itself, Dragonfly Cottage is for the traveler who longs to be surrounded by beautiful things. With its mélange of antique furniture and modern accents, the eclectic designer decor invites you to settle in and relax. The cottage has beautifully sunlit and spacious rooms, with more than enough room for everyone. There is a choice of two or three bedrooms, each with their own unique atmosphere, and a lovely bathroom with a claw foot tub and shower.

The fully-equipped kitchen boasts stainless-steel appliances, a large island, and black counter-tops. Off the kitchen is a small laundry room a new stainless-steel washer and dryer. The cottage also has a glassed-in front porch, an open-design living and dining area, and a secluded garden where you can savor your morning coffee or a glass of wine. In addition to all this, we have child-proofed the house to make sure your little ones are safe.

Dragonfly is a beautiful, serene and comfortable home. Sun-lit rooms and a sense of spaciousness create a lovely and relaxed atmosphere. You have the feeling and the charm of a cottage, while in the heart of the city..... and it's only only steps away from Beacon Hill Park!

Beacon Hill Park......

This beautiful and interesting park is described as one of Victoria's 'crowning jewels'. It would be difficult to argue with this once you have spent a day exploring its 62 acres of natural beauty. It doesn't matter what you're in the mood for, a day in this magical park will offer you something.

Beacon Hill is a beautifully landscaped and manicured park with gardens, ponds, stone bridges, and alpine, rock gardens.There are also large areas of the park that have been left in their natural state, the fallen trees creating a sculptural landscape among the natural grasses and native plants.

The park is home to many exotic and native trees, including Garry Oak, Arbutus, Douglas-fir, and Western Red Cedar - to name just a few. A colony of Great Blue Herons, which once numbered over 100 nests, has returned to its nesting grounds in the park this year, after being chased away by a family of Bald Eagles in 2008.

Beacon Hill park is for visitors and locals alike, regardless of age. It's a delightful place for children to spend the day..... there's a petting zoo, playgrounds, a wading pool and picnic areas, live music in the band-shell and one of the world’s tallest Totem Poles.

It goes on and on.....

Now, let's move on to the Village......

Cook Street Village...Lively and colorful, it is full of charm and character, with something for everyone.

The streets are pedestrian friendly with a small village atmosphere. There are outdoor food courts, fruit and vegetable vendors, markets, cafes and restaurants, a butcher, a bakery, antique shops and boutiques.

Patios and cafes? Well, you have over ten to choose from along three city blocks, year round! Oh, and did I mention the neighborhood pub?

Our beautiful little village is practical too! You can find all of the day to day things you might need... banks, clinics, pharmacy, post office, hair salons, spas, chiropractor.... We have it all!

A walk along the ocean on Dallas Road?

I hope you like dogs. It's an off-leash area, and there are lots of great dogs and owners to watch and share the space with. Walk along the walkway, or sit on a bench and enjoy the view of the ocean and the snow-covered mountains across the way.

You might decide to spend the day down on the beach collecting rocks or reading a book .....and in case you forget your book..... not to worry. We also have a used-book store in the village, which is right next to one of the antique shops, and directly across from the wine store. Well, you get the picture.

I could go on and tell you about how you can walk downtown to the Parliament Buildings, the Empress Hotel, the Museum, Thunderbird Park, Inner Harbour and the night-life. I could also mention that by simply going in the other direction from Dragonfly Cottage, you come to the Art Gallery of Victoria, the Governor General’s House, and Craigdarrogh Castle.

And the best part? You've barely left your front door.....I told you it was paradise.

Perfect Home and Location

We stayed 5 nights at the delightful, spacious Dragonfly Cottage and loved every minute. Toula is a fabulous host, providing every item needed for a home stay( spices, coffee, soap for bathing, dishes and clothes) as well as tips for sights and shopping. The house is just like the photos and feels like your home. One of the best things about the Dragonfly is the location, near the Cook St Village and Beacon Hill. We were able to walk to the grocery story and excellent restaurants in 5 minutes . Although a little longer, we were able to walk to the harbor, museums, and shopping downtown. One of my favorites near Cook Village is Dallas Road with a walkway next to the beach and view of the Olympic Mountains. We highly recommend the Dragonfly.

Cozy, clean, GREAT location!

Toula made sure everything was perfect. All you need is here. Cozy, warm, 3 bdrm space with one bathroom and great kitchen. The location is amazing: right beside Beacon Hill Park and close to downtown. Great space for up to 3 couples if you can coordinate bathroom use.

Very small children may be a challenge as there are many beautiful and delicate decorative pieces. I would definitely go back. I'd definitely recommend this place to a friend.

Beautiful cottage, fabulous location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dragonfly Cottage! It is a lovely home-away-from-home. It's beautifully decorated with a light dragonfly theme, very comfortable, and very clean, in a quiet residential neighborhood. The kitchen is well-stocked with equipment. Bedrooms are comfortable, and we slept well. The location is absolutely fabulous! The Cottage is one block from Cook Street Village, where there are several nice restaurants, two grocery stores, and a good butcher shop. Parliament and the downtown core are a 10 to 15 minute walk or 5 minute drive away, and the shoreline is closer than that. There is parking for a vehicle, but unless you plan out-of-town trips you really don't need one here. All in all, this was a great place for us to stay! We would definitely stay at Dragonfly Cottage again.

Charming Cottage

Dragonfly Cottage is a charming residence situated in the ideal location in Victoria. It is walkable to most of the highlights of this wonderful city and also to coastal walking paths. It is only a short drive to hiking trails and other outdoor activities. The cottage itself is appointed with everything needed to cook at home. In fact the stay was very much like being at home away from home. The only reason for the four star review was the quality of the mattress and pillows. Unfortunately that made for difficult sleep for my husband. Even so we would not hesitate to return. Brava Toula!
