Authentic New Orleans

The "Balcony" condo was great! We felt like we were living in the middle of the historic French Quarter while having all the modern amenities. The Decatur Street location near Frenchman Street is always lively yet we never felt that it was out of control. Music is a constant backdrop, restaurants are close, the French Market is not even a block away, the Mississippi River is just across a couple of streets and Streetcar tracks. The decor is comfy with its overstuffed chairs, sofas, carpets on original hardwood and perfect bed while the kitchen is modern with granite, stainless appliances, dishwasher and a great washer and dryer. The A/C and furnace worked very well. The bedding and the towels are of great quality. But, most of all, the unit is a feast for the eyes with the paintings, lamps, ornaments, etc. Security is not an issue as the unit is on the second floor and the outer door is also locked. We would definitely recommend this location as the best way to see a more authentic New Orleans rather than staying in a hotel. Carol was accommodating and helpful and provided excellent suggestions for activities and restaurants, etc. We had to pick up and drop off the keys. . .a drop box would have helped, but Carol's house is only about a five minute drive away. This rental is an integral part of our NOLA experience and we recommend it to other couples.

Like our third home

We have been New Orleans regulars for years, but two years ago we discovered this condo on Decatur. It's a great location in the Quarter. The condo is clean, cozy and neat. We absolutely love the huge balcony for people watching, hot tea in the mornings and wine in the afternoon. The hustle and bustle in the morning is part of the charm. We like watching the shops open and the fresh fish being delivered. Having the city at our feet is one of the things we go to the city for. The balcony is shaded in the morning and late afternoon, both good relaxing times before touring and dining. Coops, across the street, is a great pop-in for delicious eats. You can watch and go when there is not a long line waiting to get in! Café du Monde is a short stroll down the street. Beat the crowd in the morning for a great sugar rush and bold cup of coffee. We love it and we look forward to returning soon. Carol is a real asset and very helpful. Hi Carol! Love you girl!

Great Location in the mix of the French Quarter

My husband and I chose this condo due to the location and previous reviews it met all of our expectations. Since we were there over the weekend we anticipated it could be noisy at night which proved true fortunately we can sleep through the noise. Only downfall was having to drop the keys off by Carols house at 5:30 am before heading the the airport a drop box at the Condo would be great.

Carol was great to work with I'd recommend staying here to anyone wanting to be in the mix of everything while experiencing NOLA.

Owner's Response: Hi Nancy! glad you enjoyed your stay and my recommendations. Thanks for the suggestion but....A drop box for a key is not a viable solution. Guests forget to return keys and it works out best if they have to return the keys to me. My house is only 5 short blocks from the condo so this really isn't a very big deal.....and everyone is either in a cab or driving their own car. It takes 5 minutes to get to the condo from my house.

Great location very comfortable

My husband and I stayed there for 6 nights. Carol was a great help and very informative. The condo was well appointed and didn't miss a thing. We were 1/2 block from Coops and just a couple of blocks to Cafe Dumonde.

We knew we were going to be in heart of the French Quarter so we made sure we had ear plugs

It's a good think you didn't stay anywhere near that area if you were concerned about noise. This is a relatively quiet part of the French Quarter by comparison. Remember folks.....this is a city!

Comfort in the Quarter

Very comfortable and quiet apartment despite location on Decatur which is a fairly busy street. Really well-appointed with a new kitchen and that amazing, huge, balcony. Carol is delightful to work with. Friendly and efficient. Everything just works. Awesome location with everything in the French Quarter in easy walking distance. I rented a bike Just across across the street to pedal to the Convention Center. Easy ride and a great way to see the neighborhood. Cabs easy to come by too. Music bars and art market on Frenchmen Street a really short walk away and way better than the Las Vegas stylings of Bourbon Street. Would definitely repeat. Thanks Carol!

Memorable French Quarter stay

French Quarter visitors have several options when selecting accommodations: Efficient chain hotels with predictable, cookie-cutter inns with rooms that are charming but typically pocket-sized...or rental apartments. This property epitomizes all the right reasons why NOLA visitors should choose a rental apartment.

A classic Vieux Carré setting – high ceilings, gorgeous hardwood floors, tasteful furnishings, and lovely French doors that open to the apartment's pièce de résistance...a sprawling balcony that renders non-stop, entertaining views of the colorful canvass known as Decatur Street.

Granite counters in kitchen, spacious bathroom, comfortable bed mattress, an icy A/C system, and all the necessary appliances complete the package – a perfect refuge that my wife and I looked forward returning to after a day/night soaking up the city. As other reviewers have mentioned, in-person impressions exceed those in the photos.

As a former NOLA resident I've seen many of the city's apartments. Due to the climate and relative age of this historic town, properties seem prone to decay. But this apt. has been well maintained, and is among the nicest. Carol, the property manager, is great - the booking was seamless and fast. Her local recommendations were excellent.

Consider disregarding the critical reviewer who devoted a paragraph to the lack of TV channels. There are plenty of channels available, unless I suppose TV is your life. More importantly, the vast majority of NOLA visitors find far better stimuli for the senses than staring at the boob tube.

Really hope to stay here again.
