There were five of us who stayed at Misty Mountain Getaway. We enjoyed sitting around and visiting with each other as we all live in different states. The cabin was quite comfortable and cozy. The beds were Great! Slept so good! It was nice to just get away to the peace and quite and enjoy doing nothing but visiting, watching a little TV, and reading. We brought our mother, who is in a nursing home in Waynesville NC, to the cabin to have Christmas with her, and she enjoyed getting out and enjoyed herself. We would without a doubt stay at Misty Mountain Getaway again. Nancy was very nice and answered any questions that we had.
We enjoyed our short vacation very much. The location is good and the cabin is quiet. The roads are a little more than curvy in and out, but once you are there you only need leave if you want to. We enjoyed the Apple Harvest Festival in Waynesville and recommend that for anyone that has not gone. We did not get as much of the fall colors as we had hoped but it was enough to make the trip worthwhile.
I hope next time we head to Maggie Valley that this rental is available. I am thinking the spring maybe.
Perfect secluded getaway close to restaurants and shopping!
A quiet secluded place. The house had all things needed. Everything was clean and ready when we arrived. It is located close to attractions
so if you don't golf, there is plenty to do. We enjoyed driving to see the elk and over to Cherokee. Don't miss eating at the Buttered Biscuit
in Maggie Valley.
Tom and Nancy are great to work with, wonderful communication, the property is as advertised. Easy to locate, clean, tucked into a nicely wooded area, well stocked with supplies and bedding. The deck has plenty of seating, private. The only issue we encountered was the early morning mowing at the nearby golf course but I am a light sleeper, the early mowing and weed eating made sitting on the deck and enjoying coffee a bit difficult.
Located between artsy Asheville, home of the Biltmore Estates/Winery and Harrah's Cherokee Casino and Reservation, the mountains of Maggie Valley offer a friendly and serene alternative to the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Nearby activities and attractions include: the Wheels Through Time Museum, the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad, Cataloochee Valley elk viewing, Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Cataloochee Ski Resort and Ranch, numerous waterfalls, the Nantahala Outdoor Center, horseback riding, gem mining, hiking, fishing, golfing and rafting to name a few.
Nearby quaint Waynesville offers lots of shopping and dining choices as well as the Hart Theater.
In summer, enjoy the cool breezes of the highest valley east of the Mississippi. In autumn, take in the beauty of the ever-changing foliage and aromas of apple season. Festivals and special events abound year round.
Come on up to the mountains where you can lay back and have fun!
