Bike rentals and paddle boats are available in nearby City Park. Fishing can be done in the park, at Bayou St. John or down the street off the seawall at Lake Pontchartrain.
Restaurants are located in Lakeview at the Lakefront as well as along Harrison Avenue. Easy to find places from Po-Boys to casual family dining to high end places like Cava and Mondo.
In the Lakeview neighborhood we enjoy the benefits of City Park, our own parks, Lake Pontchartrain and the bars, coffee shops and restaurants that are nearby. But, we are still in New Orleans and the major attractions such as the French Quarter, WWII Museum, Superdome and many clubs and world renowned restaurants are conveniently close. Literally minutes by Uber or Lyft.

Enjoy a laid-back, open-air streetcar ride while checking out the grandeur along St. Charles Avenue. Best place to catch it is in the front of City Park.
Take the city bus or hop on an open-top bus for a fun "Hop-on Hop-off" city tour.
Dance all day at the Jazz & Heritage Festival at the Fair Grounds with a bowl of gumbo or some hot crawfish bread oozing with spicy, cheesy goodness in one hand with a large strawberry lemonade in the other.
Toss a napkin with your hand-written requests onto the piano at Pat O'Brien's and wait for them to play your songs; prepare to sway, tap your feet, and sing along while enjoying your favorite drinks.
Meander among 20+ bars and clubs on Frenchmen Street with every style of music you can imagine...Jazz, brass bands, Latin, funk, rock, blues, zydeco, etc.
Stroll through the Botanical Gardens/Sculpture Garden/New Orleans Museum of Art at City Park, take a gondola/paddle boat ride, enjoy beignets, sit under the beautiful Live Oaks, take the kids to Storyland/Carousel Gardens Amusement Park, and enjoy an array of incredible alternative music acts at Voodoo Fest....
Head down the street and enjoy some freshly-caught, amazingly-delicious seafood while catching glimpses of sailboats on Lake Pontchartrain passing each other on the horizon.
Keep it tame Uptown or head into wild and crazy territory in the French Quarter during Mardi Gras season.
Do a little shopping in Lakeview, the French Quarter, Riverwalk Marketplace, Canal Place, etc. Bring home a memento or two; plenty of stores!
Enjoy taking an informative riverboat cruise while listening to the sounds of the calliope or take a swamp tour for a little more adrenaline-pumping excitement.
History buffs always enjoy the National World War II Museum; it is massive and super-informative. Don't plan on seeing it all in one day! They have recently added a PT Boat tour at Lake Pontchartrain at Southshore Harbor. You can tour or pay more and ride the authentic, restored World War II PT boat.
