About Pete and Debra Wedin
Captain Pete and Debra have lived in Homer for 20 years and Pete had his own fishing business until 2014. He is back fishing aboard the Julia Lynn this year for Eric Lehm of Maverick Charters who is the new owner. Debra is originally from Skagway and loves Alaska's beauty and majesty. They love hosting guests and having them enjoy the beauty and convenience of their Anchor Watch house. Homer is a great place to visit and live.
Pete and Debra Wedin purchased this House in 2000
Why Pete and Debra Wedin chose Homer
Close to the highway and close to town, Anchor Watch is a lovely little slice of Homer Alaska, a homey comfortable place to relax and watch the boats and floatplanes and an occasional helicopter go by. The ocean breeze keeps the mosquitoes at bay. Birds and wildlife abound and it is a great place to relax after a long day on the water or spending a day enjoying the sights and sounds of Homer. Many attractions for all to be enjoyed here - Pratt Museum and Islands and Oceans to start, as well as many great places to dine. There are lots of outdoor activities and great fishing to be had here. We have enjoyed living in one of the most beautiful places on Earth, Homer Alaska.
What makes this House unique
There are many lodgings in Homer but this property is close to the highway and close to town and has a fantastic view and lovely southern exposure. From its location right on the Sterling Highway it is easy to find and convenient to Homer town center and beaches.

Beautiful, Comfortable, and Relaxing
We stayed here as part of a 3 week trip in Seattle, Juneau, Anchorage, Homer, and Denali. This house was our favorite house (me, my wife, 13 month old daughter, and my father) and Homer was our favorite location. The pictures of this house really do not show how incredibly beautiful that it is. It is comfortable and has million dollar views. Even on cloudy/ drizzly days we were able to relax inside and watch the beauty through the huge living room windows.
The house sits on a huge bluff overlooking the ocean and from the deck/living room, we were able to see: whales, eagles, otters, seals and a stellar jay. Around Homer, we went Halibut Fishing and came home with 90 pounds of fish. As a family, we we took a float plane to Katmai and it was AMAZING. We also did some tide pooling and saw some pretty amazing aquatic life as well.
As far as the house itself is concerned, it was perfect: comfortable beds, fully stocked kitchen appliances, clean, books for adults, and even toys for my daughter! It was all perfect!
Thank you for staying at our vacation rental in Homer, we appreciate what it takes to get around our great state of Alaska. So glad you could come stay with us in Homer. Sincerely Pete and Debra at Anchor Watch
Great Homer location...absolutely stunning view
Debra and pete were wonderful hosts and the home overlooking homer spit and the water was fantastic! Big picture windows in living room and bedrooms. Close to town but secluded site. We highly recommend this rental.
So glad you enjoyed our place and Homer. It's great people like you that make us happy to be able to share our home. Sincerely, Captain Pete and Debra
Well kept. Everything we needed
I have spent what feels like more than my fair share of time in this home - it's just that magical. From waking up to the sun splashing color across the bay to watching it set over volcanoes, basking the scene with alpenglow; listening to the surf and studying the pulse of the tides; watching eagles glide by and searching for whales' spray on the horizon; this location is captivating and breathtaking.
Add to that the home itself, which is conveniently located just on the edge of town - you could easily bike downtown if you wanted to. The walls of that house have gathered and sheltered hundreds of loved ones, usually feasting on bounty from the waters just out the window. The kitchen will produce wonders and the beds restful slumbers. Ample parking makes the whole shebang feasible for whatever experience you look to create - sizeable or secluded.
I could not give this property a more enthusiastic review. If I could, I'd scoop this haven up for myself - alas, it is now a gift to be shared with the public! Enjoy and cherish the space, you're not going to forget it.
You can find our house just as you come in to Homer on the Bluff (right side). Homer is located on Kachemak Bay and there are many water activities such as fishing, tours to Across the Bay, kayaking across the bay, along with a great museum, lots of great eating establishments. Homer is a great place to come and relax and just enjoy the abundant scenery and wildlife.
