About Erin Friday

My husband and I each had a parent who worked on Seven Mile Island (Avalon/Stone Harbor) in high school. They were so taken by the beautiful towns that they brought their families back here to vacation when they could. We both grew up with Stone Harbor traditions like searching for shells at the Point and ice cream at Springers.

After graduation from college, my husband and I met in a shore house on Seven Mile Island and got engaged on the back deck of our rental house the following year. When we had children, we wanted to share with them all of the wonderful summer experiences that we had growing up. We have often vacationed here with other families to share with them the perfect beach get away.

We looked for many years to find the right place to call our home and couldn't be happier with the perfect location and amenities that you'll find if you come for a visit. We're happy to share our home with you and hope you make the same wonderful memories of Stone Harbor that we have created with our family.

Erin Friday purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Erin Friday chose Southern Shore Region

We looked for many years for a space that would be large enough to comfortably fit our family. We looked at many South Jersey shore towns but couldn't imagine wanting to live anywhere other than Stone Harbor. It is the right mix of family attractions and nightlife. It is close to the Atlantic City casinos and the Ocean City and Wildwood Boardwalks without being next door to them. It is a relaxing town with friendly people.

The reason we picked this particular property is because it was clean, comfortably furnished, and the BEST location on the island. We are so close to everything that we usually park the car for the week and never need to get back in it until it's time to go home.

What makes this cottage unique

Enjoy the cool breezes on the back deck and the quiet of the residential neighborhood surroundings. The beds and couches are comfortable and the open kitchen area is perfect for gathering your group to eat or play.

Clean. Bedspreads could use to be replaced. Deck in back. Didn't like the fact that I received emails from both realtor and vbro-very confusing. Could have also provided toilet paper! Good location.

Cute house in a great location!

  • 4 of 5

The house was cute, clean, and perfect for our needs. It was also in a great location...we enjoyed being able to walk to the beach as well as the Stone Harbor stores and restaurants. We gave 4 stars instead of 5 because some of the furniture/appliances were a bit dated, but we did not experience any issues.

Owner's Response: With the exception of the oven and microwave which are scheduled to be replaced when they need to be, all kitchen appliances are brand new within the last few years. Much of the furniture is new as well, especially all of the living room furniture that was replaced in the last year. We will follow up with this tenant to see what pieces they feel need to be updated and take care of it.

Family week in Stone Harbor

  • 5 of 5

My sisters and I have started a family tradition of renting a house in Stone Harbor for 1 week in August, as we have cousins who have done it for years. This was our second year, and due to one family not being able to attend, we needed a smaller property and this rental was great. This second floor, 3 bedroom unit is located only 5 short blocks from town and 2 long blocks from the beach and has a view of the bay from the second floor. The back deck is great, with a nice new table, chairs, umbrella and extra space and chairs to hang out or dry towels/bathing suits, etc... The three bedrooms are a good size with sufficient closet space and it was nice to have 2 full bathrooms (plus outside shower). Dishwasher is quiet and I thought the washer/dryer might be in the way, since it was right in the kitchen, but it was not. Living space was also larger than expected, living room, but then partially separated (kitchen) table for 6 and comfortable reading chair. Also, the owner was good at replying to various questions we had leading up the rental time. Only 3 minor quibbles... 1) It is a second floor unit, but we knew that going in, 2) You have to drive to/from Avalon to get keys from the realtor. Previous rentals had a lockbox, which worked better for us. 3) And the cleaning people did not arrive until 1:10PM on the day we checked in (as I arrived), but they were out by 1:30, and the unit was very clean.

From Mapquest: 'Stone Harbor is a borough in Cape May County, New Jersey, United States. It is part of the Ocean City Metropolitan Statistical Area. It shares the barrier island Seven Mile Island with its northern neighbor Avalon. Development began in the late 19th century as a beach resort along the West Jersey and Seashore Railroad line which was replaced by a traffic island in 1932 along the length of Second Avenue. It continues as a resort community for visitors enjoying beaches and a thriving commercial center centered along 96th Street and 2nd Avenue, bringing in a summer population in excess of 20,000. As of the 2000 United States Census, the borough had a year-round population of 1,128.

In 2006, Forbes magazine ranked Stone Harbor (08247) as #47 on its list of the most expensive zip codes in the United States, based on median home sale prices. As of 2001, Worth Magazine put Stone Harbor at #101 on its list of the Richest Towns in America, which was based on median annual real estate prices. Most vacationers come from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Maryland, Delaware, and Quebec. It was ranked the tenth best beach in New Jersey in the 2008 Top 10 Beaches Contest sponsored by the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium.

Stone Harbor was incorporated as a borough by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on April 3, 1914, from portions of Middle Township, based on the results of a referendum held on April 28, 1914. The borough gained a portion of Avalon on December 27, 1941.'
