True Country living modern quality home, hiking, mountain biking heaven

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,500 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Welcome to our second home in the high mountains of New Mexico, bordering Carston National Forest. This home is a rare combination of functionality, quality, and unique personal touches while preserving a warm cabin feel. It's a great place to retreat for anything from a short stay to an entire season. Right out of our property you can go on hikes, find mountain bike trails. Nearby it only gets wilder and better with some of the best hiking and outdoor possibilities of New Mexico. Not far from Taos, and fabulous spas. And in Peñasco you have the famous child circus and theatre to entertain your kids all summer.

Warning: Great place to chill. Not a great for people who get flustered with the little things that can go wrong in a house. Even though we have ironed out all the wrinkles of a new home, if something does happen, it can easily take 24 hours to have someone make a repair. I have a vacation rental business mainly in urban areas, and I respond quickly to any issues no matter how small - don't expect this here. This is truly rural, and that is also the beauty of this place. Better for people that are not complicated and rather self-sufficient.

4WD vehicle strongly recommended, especially in the winter. The last 1.5 miles are unpaved.

Secluded retreat

  • 5 of 5

Very secluded. Near the end of a road that gets a bit bumpy. Might be an issue for some cars in bad weather. Home well equipped and comfortable. Great place to get away from it all for a few days.

La Luna: A Place of Magic

  • 5 of 5

If you want to stay in a place of magic in the middle of New Mexico paradise, this is the place for you. This house is pristine, modern and everything is new. There is a mudroom for all of your mountain toys- mountains bikes, skis, etc; rooms that accommodate the family, a beautiful vista of the mountain range and a wonderful terrace to watch nature. Take a nature walk down to the stream on the property and sit among the reeds listening to the wind blow. There is no noise or light pollution here, so get ready to be amazed by the stars as you gaze upward. If you are looking for a place to retreat, this is it. If you are looking for a place to play in the mountains, you have found your place. Easy access and close enough to Taos to enjoy the town life. But once you are at La Luna, you may not want to leave! I can’t wait to go back!!
