Nice, if you don't have your hopes up too much!

  • 3 of 5

The cottage is clean, but very Small (the kitchen is actually just a sink and a small frig. The shower is build for a small an very fit person and there is no cover to scape the rain on the patio. Even a small umbrella table would do.

The animals are nice but they don't just visit (the dog) they were always there and had to watch not to step on a dog pope every time we were outside. The very first night, He stole my food as soon as I stepped inside. I could tell he was very proficient at his craft, the little thief. :)

We were looking forward to spent time by the pond. (Half dry and infested with bugs). We looked for the waterfall that was shown online and supposedly on the property. Later we found out that there were none. The pictures are rather deceiving and seasonal, to say the least.

I told Harvey that we were there to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday and were looking forward to spent a lot of time on the property enjoying the pond and the waterfall. I would've appreciated a heads up!

We only used the cottage for sleeping and did not spent much time at the property.

The care takers were very nice and accommodating though. Having said that The little Fairhaven downtown is very charming and filled with great café and restaurants. the surrounding trails and parks are easy to get to and made our little weekend unforgettable.

We definitely will be back to the area but not sure if we'll return to the Pond cottage.

Owner's Response: So sorry the cottage didn't meet your expectations and we are surprised by your comments. If you examine the other reviews, almost all of our guests find great pleasure and satisfaction staying in the cottage and have had much more positive experiences than you. We work hard to make sure all of our guests enjoy their visit but, unfortunately it just doesn't meet everyone's needs. We appreciate your suggestions and will work hard to make sure other guests don't have the same challenges that you did. Not much we can do about the waterfall and the pond as it is the dry season and had no intention to be deceitful. We can assure you that the pond is not bug infested-all are healthy members of the ecosystem. We would be happy to provide a refund if that would be of compensation for your unsatisfying experience.

Beautiful, peaceful, tranquil.

  • 4 of 5

Loved the location, the animals, the pond, the bed, so comfortable. Really close to town yet felt so out of town. I would recommend to someone who just wants to have peace and quiet for a few days.

Quiet and Peaceful

  • 4 of 5

This a great property for a couple looking for a nice little getaway in the beautiful Fairhaven or Chuckanut area. The animals are friendly but not obtrusive. The accommodations are comfortable and cozy. We really enjoyed our stay during some of the greatest August weather possible. The location is close enough to town to be convenient but remote enough to have a nicely secluded feel. The natural surrounding was comforting. Something to note; the cottage is located on the other side of a grass area from the parking. In the Winter, this may be wet. It was just fine in the Summer. But if you come in winter, be aware that your shoes may become wet getting to and from the car to the cottage.
