About the property

3 bedroom, 2.5 bath, sleeps 12, great character, Highland Lake access

A wonderful old colonial New Englander on Highland Lake. Built in the late 1800's and renovated over the past 10 years, it has a stunning kitchen with a huge island and all soap stone countertops. The replica gas cook stove adds charm. A formal dining area for family meals and the living room has a number of comfy couches and chairs. There is a gas fireplace in the living room for those cozy winter nights.

The 3 bedrooms upstairs are spacious. The bunk room has 1 queen bed with a double bed above it and 1 twin bed. Perfect for sleeping all the kids. Downstairs the bonus room has a queen sized futon. Easily sleeps 10+. The house has an attached barn and the El is a great place to store your water equipment during the summer or your ski/snowboard equipment in the winter.

Just across the channel is the Rail Trail, the old rail line pulled up and maintained for walking or biking in the summer and cross country skiing or snowmobiling in the winter. If you like outdoors there are plenty of things to do:

- Highland Lake Beach 0.5 miles away

- Canoe/kayaking on Highland Lake

- Boating on Highland Lake

- Mountain biking on numerous trails

- Skiing at Ragged Mountain (18mi), Sunapee (24mi), Gunstock (28mi), Waterville Valley (52mi), Loon (58 mi), Killington (77mi)

- Golf

Or if you just want to relax in a comfortable house and a stress free environment the place is for you. The house is on a dead end road with only 3 houses on it, including ours and they are all vacation homes so there is no traffic. You can sit on either of the two porches facing the water or lounge out on the well manicured lawn and watch the afternoon pass by.

About Greg & Chelsi Mickle

We currently live in Scotland. My wife takes our children back to our lake house each year to spend part of the summer with our friends and family in the area.

Greg & Chelsi Mickle purchased this house in 2010

Why Greg & Chelsi Mickle chose Dartmouth-Lake Sunapee

We bought this property because the house across the street has been in our family for 50 years. My Aunts still own it. My parents live a few miles down the street. This place has been on the periferals of summer family fun as I was growing up. It became central to my children's summer fun when we bought it in 2010.

Wonderful house and lake!

  • 5 of 5

This rental comfortably fit three couples and three children. There is access to a dock on the channel to the lake making it very easy to put in kayaks and paddle boards. The lake is really quiet too. We also enjoyed the town beach which is a very short walk from the house. It is also very quite and great for littler children. The kitchen and living spaces were wonderful as are the outdoor spaces. It was a very kid friendly rental with games and outside toys. I highly recommend this very special location for a getaway with family or friends!

We stayed at this house for several ski weekends and it was perfect. Comfy, cozy, clean. Kitchen was big and inviting. Owners were great too. Easy to deal with, and completely reasonable!

New England Lake House

  • 5 of 5

We needed a BIG house with sleeping for 7 adults and this was the PERFECT home.

We were in NH for our daughter's wedding and had other family from 4 other states join us at the house. It made us feel right at home. We all LOVED the beautiful kitchen. Would DEFINITELY stay there again!

Wonderful place for family vacation

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for our family vacation. Very clean and well maintained, nicely renovated. It has the charm of a country house with updated kitchen and baths. The location was quiet and we really enjoyed our morning coffee on the porch. The owner was great to deal with.

Perfect for family gathering

  • 4 of 5

Our daughter was graduating from Proctor Academy. This home is only a 10 minute drive from the campus. It gave us a place to stay and celebrate. The kitchen is well equipped with everything imaginable. Plenty of sleeping space, although too many rainy days and it might feel a bit small. But overall, we enjoyed the home and would recommend it.
