A wonderful old colonial New Englander on Highland Lake. Built in the late 1800's and renovated over the past 10 years, it has a stunning kitchen with a huge island and all soap stone countertops. The replica gas cook stove adds charm. A formal dining area for family meals and the living room has a number of comfy couches and chairs. There is a gas fireplace in the living room for those cozy winter nights.
The 3 bedrooms upstairs are spacious. The bunk room has 1 queen bed with a double bed above it and 1 twin bed. Perfect for sleeping all the kids. Downstairs the bonus room has a queen sized futon. Easily sleeps 10+. The house has an attached barn and the El is a great place to store your water equipment during the summer or your ski/snowboard equipment in the winter.
Just across the channel is the Rail Trail, the old rail line pulled up and maintained for walking or biking in the summer and cross country skiing or snowmobiling in the winter. If you like outdoors there are plenty of things to do:
- Highland Lake Beach 0.5 miles away
- Canoe/kayaking on Highland Lake
- Boating on Highland Lake
- Mountain biking on numerous trails
- Skiing at Ragged Mountain (18mi), Sunapee (24mi), Gunstock (28mi), Waterville Valley (52mi), Loon (58 mi), Killington (77mi)
Or if you just want to relax in a comfortable house and a stress free environment the place is for you. The house is on a dead end road with only 3 houses on it, including ours and they are all vacation homes so there is no traffic. You can sit on either of the two porches facing the water or lounge out on the well manicured lawn and watch the afternoon pass by.
