Overview

About the property

3 bedroom, 2.5 bath, sleeps 12, great character, Highland Lake access

A wonderful old colonial New Englander on Highland Lake. Built in the late 1800's and renovated over the past 10 years, it has a stunning kitchen with a huge island and all soap stone countertops. The replica gas cook stove adds charm. A formal dining area for family meals and the living room has a number of comfy couches and chairs. There is a gas fireplace in the living room for those cozy winter nights.

The 3 bedrooms upstairs are spacious. The bunk room has 1 queen bed with a double bed above it and 1 twin bed. Perfect for sleeping all the kids. Downstairs the bonus room has a queen sized futon. Easily sleeps 10+. The house has an attached barn and the El is a great place to store your water equipment during the summer or your ski/snowboard equipment in the winter.

Just across the channel is the Rail Trail, the old rail line pulled up and maintained for walking or biking in the summer and cross country skiing or snowmobiling in the winter. If you like outdoors there are plenty of things to do:

- Highland Lake Beach 0.5 miles away

- Canoe/kayaking on Highland Lake

- Boating on Highland Lake

- Mountain biking on numerous trails

- Skiing at Ragged Mountain (18mi), Sunapee (24mi), Gunstock (28mi), Waterville Valley (52mi), Loon (58 mi), Killington (77mi)

- Golf

Or if you just want to relax in a comfortable house and a stress free environment the place is for you. The house is on a dead end road with only 3 houses on it, including ours and they are all vacation homes so there is no traffic. You can sit on either of the two porches facing the water or lounge out on the well manicured lawn and watch the afternoon pass by.

About Greg & Chelsi Mickle

We currently live in Romania. My wife takes our children back to our lake house each year to spend part of the summer with our friends and family in the area.

Greg & Chelsi Mickle purchased this house in 2010

Why Greg & Chelsi Mickle chose East Andover

We bought this property because the house across the street has been in our family for 50 years. My Aunts still own it. My parents live a few miles down the street. This place has been on the periferals of summer family fun as I was growing up. It became central to my children's summer fun when we bought it in 2010.

Charming NH home

  • 5 of 5

Clean, quiet and comfortable for 4 adults and 2 young children, with lots of toys and books that they enjoyed. Beautiful floors! Amazing kitchen!! Flexible check-in and checkout time. Our only problem was that the propane ran out just as we were staring to grill steaks for 10, and the nearby gas station was out of propane also, YIKES! Fortunately we were able to load the steaks in the car and grill them at the home of nearby friends and bring them back... Guess it’s hard to know when propane is running out.

Wonderful

  • 4 of 5

This home worked out perfectly for our son’s wedding which was held right across the street at the Highland lake Inn. The front porch was lovely for having coffee in the morning and looking at the lake. The owners were wonderful and very responsive to any questions that we had. The kitchen was amazing and had plenty of room for everyone to gather, chat and eat. And the three bathrooms made it very easy for us all to get ready for the wedding.

Great stay with kids!!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here during the middle of June. On the channel right near the lake, a short walk! Also, on the bike path and a twenty minute bike ride to Proctor academy. House is perfect for little kids: Toys, movies, butterfly nets, outside toys and picnic table. Washer/dryer are located on the first floor. Kitchen is perfect and has everything you need. Bunk room makes sleeping for the little kids like a sleepover. Our family really enjoyed our stay here. The owners were very helpful and responsive. They arranged to have the lawn cut the day we arrived and left fresh flowers for us around the house. Great place and hope to come back.
