Hi there! Jeff and Mary Jo here, we lived in Colorado from 1999 - 2012. Due to job change, we have moved to Minnesota. We bought the mountain place as second home in 2007 - new, so we are first/only owners. We added the walk in level bed/bath/living in 2009. Married, no kids, one spoiled dog named Ginger (Boston Terrier). We have had so many great times up at the mountain home - we hope you do to. If you have any questions/concerns, please call me directly . We do not use an agency - it's just us.
Jeff Skogen purchased this house in 2007
We searched for a mountain get away for many years. We landed on this property and the Fairplay area because it was within 2 hours from Denver, a true get away (you are in the mountains, not in a city in the mountains), yet easy access to small town charm of Fairplay and a short drive to Breckenridge. It's simply a beautiful area with Silver Heels Mountain Range, South Platte River, open ranges to thick forests.
Bright, light open concept with beautiful log accents. Comfortable. Awesome views of mountains and forest from being on the ridge line.
We had 6 adults and 1 child (7) with us for 5 days and 4 nights. Everyone had their own private sleeping space and bathroom. Very clean and well kempt. No one felt cramped, plenty of space. Dinner table was great as it seated 8 comfortably. The cabin was warm and inviting. We would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone that is looking to travel to CO, and we are hoping to make it back again soon as well!
We had yet another amazing Thanksgiving stay in this perfect, secluded home outside of Fairplay, Colorado. Our third annual Thanksgiving getaway was another opportunity to make family memories, relax, and take a deep breath before the oncoming holiday season. Cooking a large turkey and all of the trimmings once again added to the coziness of this visit. The beautiful, large kitchen is fully equipped for a home cooked meal of any kind. Our favorite features of the home are the floor to cathedral ceiling windows that allow you to feel as though you are sitting out on the deck while enjoying a soft snowfall or gazing at the mountains in the distance, all while being warmed by the fireplace. This mountain view is the first sight to be seen each morning from the upstairs master bedroom bed. We enjoyed Christmas movies on the crystal clear picture on the living room television. Each day we walked our lab on a mile or so loop, and rarely saw another person. I could go on and on. We are so thankful to have discovered the perfect home away from home for our annual Thanksgiving retreat. We miss it already. We will be back!
We had a wonderful stay in this amazing home that has beautiful views. All the rooms were spacious, the house was clean and there were enough towels, kitchen supplies, blankets, etc. to make our stay comfortable. The homeowner was always reachable for questions. The ONLY reason I did not give my stay 5 stars is because the mattresses on the two pull out beds on the lower level definitely need to be replaced and were not comfortable. Other than that, we could not have been happier with our stay.
What an amazing house, we had a great time fishing, ATV tours and relaxing in the house. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could need (spices galore) and enough movies, puzzles, and cards to keep our kids entertained. Would highly recommend this place!
This cabin is close to town, yet secluded. There is a huge living room with comfy couches, a large kitchen, two fire places, and plenty of room to sleep a large group comfortably. We had no complaints and hope to visit again for another family reunion. We hiked in the area, visited some art galleries in Fairplay, went to a brewery in Buena vista, shopped in Breck. It was the perfect long weekend. And again, the views are gorgeous from this cabin!! Lots of aspens changing if you come in the fall. Jeff, the owner, was in great communication with anything we needed and any questions.
We've been coming to Fairplay for the summer for the last 17 years. During that time we've rented 12 different places for periods of 3 weeks to 3 months. This is definitely one of the best--and may be our favorite. The view is beautiful and it's such a bonus to wake up in the morning and see the mountains in the distance. The house is open and spacious and very comfortable. It backs to National Forest and we often saw deer there on our evening walks. Jeff is very responsive. We had a little problem with the Internet and Jeff got it fixed within minutes of us contacting him. This is our final rental because we're building a house in the area. But, if we weren't building, we'd be trying to book next year for the entire summer!
Mountain get away. Million dollar views of the Rocky Mountains, specifically Silver Heels Mountain range. Out door adventures, sportsman paradise, family friendly. Activities include hiking, snow shoeing, fishing, horseback riding, ATVing, snowmobiling, white water rafting, mountain biking, rock climbing, relaxing. Fairplay town of 700 people in South Park County - check out the late 1800's museum, small town shopping, ice cream shop, restaurants, panning for gold, bowling alley, etc. Fairplay is 25 minutes from Breckenridge for more shopping, restaurants, skiing/snow boarding, tubing, spas. Avoid the I70 traffic and hassle by going Hwy 285 from Denver to Fairplay in less than 2 hours -and it is a very pretty drive. Enjoy!
