About Cathy Bittrick
Meet Barry and Cathy Bittrick. We live on Mona Lake and know how much fun it is to live on water. We've lived in West Michigan for over 40 years and although Barry is a "Cheesehead" from Wisconsin, once in awhile I can get him to cheer for the Lions! Our favorite restaurants are Dockers, The Deck, Hearthstone and The Lakehouse, but we're only minutes from Grand Haven and Kirby's Grill House is also a favorite. Although we both still work in Grand Rapids, we love to get home in the summer and hop on the pontoon and tour around the lake. If you need anything, we live right around the corner. (To be compliant with Michigan Real Estate License Law, I am a Licensed Real Estate Broker with RE/MAX SunQuest Realty at 6255 28th St. S.E., Grand Rapids, Michigan 49546 and this is our personal investment property) Hope you enjoy renting this fun beach house!
Cathy Bittrick purchased this Cottage in 2016
Why Cathy Bittrick chose Norton Shores
We chose Mona Lake because it has access to Lake Michigan, but even on the weekends, the lake doesn't have a lot of traffic, so it's safe for jet skiers, and boating, great fishing and the most beautiful sunsets on Lake Michigan. The lake also has a sandy bottom so we like that. Come and make some great memories. We hope you enjoy our home away from home.
What makes this Cottage unique
The kitchen is all remodeled with granite counters, tile flooring, new appliances, new carpet in the living room. New king-size bed in one bedroom and new twin beds in second bedroom. Pull-out couch in living room gives lots of room for another couple or children. Great lawn for volley ball and beautiful lakefront swimming. Michigan Adventure Water Park is right up US-31 and Lake Michigan Beaches, USS Silversides Submarine Tours, Art Festivals, Bike have it all!!

My family and I had a great time. The house was perfect for our needs. Staying right on the water was the relaxing vacation we needed. I will definitely be back.
Thanks for your kind words, Elizabeth, and we certainly hope you and your family will visit us again soon. So glad our little beach house was perfect for your stay. Kindly, Cathy
My husband and I spent the week after Labor Day at this charming cottage. It is very well appointed, and provides all the necessities to make our stay super comfortable. The sleeping provisions were comfortable, the living space was wide open, and the wall of glass with sliders made the lakeside a natural part of the living space.
The kitchen was also great with granite counters and appliances that were up-to-date and easy to use.
Convenient to Muskegon restaurants, points of interest and shopping; as well as a short trip to all the fun that Grand Haven has to share. Located close to several parks, some with beaches, others with great trails.
We did a lot of fishing off the dock, and had luck with bluegill, perch, catfish and even a large mouth bass.
The only downside was the weather: it is Michigan! Quite cool and windy most days, so unable to make comment about the swimming or paddling.
So happy to have you join us and wish we could have waved a magic wand for warmer weather. August and September can be quite unpredictable in Michigan, and we hope you'll join us again earlier in the season. Thank you so much for your kind words. Kindly, Cathy
Cathy and Berry were Awesome, they made every effort to make sure our stay at the Beach House was great. The boat ride on the lake was an enjoyable evening ! The house was well stocked and clean, Thanks for having us
We hope to come back soon to enjoy your hospitality and great lake views
Terrific location with great yard and dock on quiet lake
We had a terrific stay with our family of four, including two kids, 10 and 12. Cathy and Barry were great hosts, both with what they provided at the house, including access to kayaks, and in taking us out on their pontoon boat and to the Tiki Bar on the lake.
The indoor space was perfect for our needs, with a master bedroom and a twin bed for each kid. The kitchen was well-stocked with dishes and cooking ware. We took great advantage of the shaded picnic table and gas grill, grilling and eating outside at least daily. The outdoor space was wonderful, including the picnic table, firepit, and adirondack chairs facing the lake. We loved having our own dock and direct water access for swimming, fishing, and just taking in the views.
The location was also great for short day trips, including to breakfast and the beach in Grand Haven, for horseback riding, to Silver Lake to ride the dunes, and for taking a family rafting trip down the White River.
I would highly recommend. It is a great place to just stay and enjoy, but to also use as a great base to enjoy the surrounding sites and activities, without feeling like your trapped amongst the tourists.
Thank you so much, John! We really enjoyed meeting you and your beautiful family and are so glad that your stay at our little beach house was perfect for your needs. We hope that you will come and visit is again. Kindly, Cathy and Barry.
Great vacation on Mona Lake, again.
We had a great vacation on Mona Lake, again. The owners are very cordial and gracious, and even treated us to a night of food and entertainment. They also appear to have influence over the weather, since we had fabulous weather for 6 out of 7 days - just like last year. I want a piece of that power!
Last year we engineered a secure and protective way to moor our boat to the dock. We left some notes on suggested adaptations to the dock. This year all of those suggestions were in place and several extra padded mooring posts were sunk in the shallows. Put a big check mark next to "Responsive".
The lake is a nice size, with plenty of room to explore and fish by boat. There is an underused public beach directly across the water in case you suddenly find 20 relatives and friends want to join you. The channel to Lake Michigan allows moderate size powerboats to enjoy that jewel of water and beaches when the weather cooperates. Mona Lake is pleasant in terms of water quality and minimal weeds. It is surprisingly quiet in local sounds and lake traffic. Lakeshore living encounters zero road or other noise that would indicate you are 1/2 mile from a major road and surrounded by a mid-sized city. Boat traffic likewise belies the lake's proximity to a significant population. Weekdays, we seemed to own the lake. Periodically a bald eagle would soar by - a nest is atop a tree visible across the water.
We make so many awesome friends when we share out little Beach House and you and your friends are among the best. Thank you for your kind words and we are so happy we could keep the "rain gods" away for you. Unfortunately some of our other guests had some rainy weather this year, but they were all good sports. Hope to see you all again next year!! Kindly, Barry and Cathy
We had a wonderful stay at the lake house. Cathy was extremely hospitable, even purchased a high chair and small toys for our kids to make our stay enjoyable and stress free! We had so much fun fishing and swimming off the dock and the seaweed was not a bother. Pere Marquette beach was a 20 min drive for a change of scenery as well - beautiful! The crooked floors were a bit of an annoyance but everything else was great. Thank you so much for a great stay!
Thanks so much for your kind words, Dana! We enjoyed having you and hope you'll visit us again. Glad the views made up for the crooked floors. LOL! They've been that way since the 1980's and will have to stay that way for a few more years. Safe travels home! Kindly, Cathy and Barry
