We absolutely loved our stay at Shore Thing. Check in was a breeze and the staff at Boardwalk Realty were very helpful. the beach house was everything we expected and more. It's right on the beach. We stayed with my family of four (two young children) and my parents. My mom is disabled so she can't walk on the sand but she loves the ocean. She was able to sit on the enormous deck and watch the kids play in the sand and ocean and felt a part of the whole thing. We all slept with windows open and let the sound of the waves put us to sleep. Some may complain that the property needs a little updating but that would never deter me from coming back here. Thanks for the great vacation.
The perfect place for a vacation.
We had a wonderful time at this house. The beach is private and quiet with very little walk through traffic. Having a secured entrance was very important to us. The Residence were friendly and helpful giving us information for the best sunsets and sunrises. The management group that runs the property was outstanding. I would highly recommend this place to all my friends and family. The house has everything that you need to make your vacation relaxing. Being close to the bird sanctuary was a real treat as we had many visitors land on the deck while we were there. We were able to see dolphins swimming in the Gulf Coast every morning and sometimes in the day. You will not be disapointed with this location of the Island.
Great house overlooking the Gulf
We enjoyed our stay despite crummy weather, only had sunshine one day....bummer!! We were still able to walk the beach and pick up shells most days. Also, enjoyed walks through the bird sanctuary, Fort Gaines, and the Estuarium. The house is in a quiet, gated community where we walked our dog daily. Most of the island, beaches...are dog friendly, which is a big plus for us! The deck overlooking the water was perfect for letting our dog enjoy the outdoors when we were inside. The house had everything we needed, including linens. We would definitely stay here again if we came back.
Great house, beautiful area of Dauphin Island!
We spent a week in this house and had a wonderful stay. The house had everything we needed - the open kitchen and living area was nice and was perfect for our family. It also opens to a large deck that looks out over the gulf. The kitchen was well-stocked and there are 2 flat screen TVs with Dish. The linens and bedspreads were newer than the pictures show. We also liked the location close to Audubon Bird sanctuary (the trails around the freshwater lake are not to be missed). The neighborhood is gated and the streets are quiet so there was a lot of room for our kids to roam. We also went to Fort Gaines and the Sea Estuarium which are a mile or so away. You won't be disappointed in DI or this house, we are looking forward to coming back to both.
House is as advertised! Back deck is perfect for watching the pelicans swoop into the water for breakfast. There aren't stairs to access the beach from the back deck; however, we found it in our favor as the dogs could lounge outside without worry of escape. Beds are very comfortable - like the split plan with kids. The house was immaculate. It was great not to have to pack linens. Loved the open kitchen and that it was well-stocked with pots, pans and dishes. There was plenty of hot water. The neighborhood is quiet. Our kids rode their bikes all over the east End. It was our first stay on the East End, but it won't be our last. Considering Thanksgiving beach trip to this same house. Thanks for the wonderful memories. The big surprise was the Art Trail. We came home with shells and beautiful prints of Dauphin Island.
This is our second trip to Dauphin Island and we love it there. The house has alot of room and the view is beautiful, right on the beach. We enjoyed sunrises and peaceful walks. And the shrimp from Skinners is a must!! We were disappointed with the house, seems as if it has been neglected. You go by the photo's and somethings were not the same. We will not return to this house. We wait all year for our vacation and to have a place that is not up to our expectations is somewhat of a let down.
